Yes officer, this is the room the vibraphone was murdered in.
RIP indeed
after watching the end I can now solve the murder: it was the bad bad man in the recording studio with the rubber headed sticks
I can't. I just can't. The song brought me so much joy, and then I read this comment like it put a neat little bow on the package. One like isn't enough, but it's all I can give.
Yes, and his friend bass guitar as well.
What?
Lavos heard this and decided *not* to destroy the planet.
Can confirm
@ Shh, no spoilers!
@@LavosTheOneEyedTick xD
But the future accepted to change.
YOU GUYS NEED TO MAKE A COMEBACK FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, THIS WAS SO GOOD!
Guys you all are exactly what I've been waiting for my whole life. An actual Jazz band (real trained jazz musicians) playing video game music. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!
bboyspaz Thank you so much for the kind words. It's so cool being able to play the songs from games I used to pay as a child now when I'm an adult. It brings back so many good gaming memories.

@@adramirez76, please, no.
@@adramirez76 I love PPF
@@PeyCa Why no ? PPF is really good. And I prefer his interpretation.
Akira Toriyama has now left this world. . .and this is the VERY first song my mind jumped to in his wake. He brought a much younger me so many happy memories with Chrono Trigger. Sleepless nights. My very first F in school, Algebra. The god damned professional level you madmen play at does such unapologetic justice to his work, pulling back the veil of time for just a little while. No way to say thank you enough.
To be fair, Akira Toriyama only did the character design for Chrono Trigger. Yasunori Mitsuda composed the soundtrack and isn't gone from us just yet.
RIP Toriyama. You will be missed.
Where have you gone? Will we hear from you again? The world is a better place with your music in it.
I have several statements and questions:
1. I'm so glad this is 11 minutes long.
2. The solos are damn good, my favorite being the bass guy. Either you guys love this game or love this game.
3. Why is this not on spotify?
4. Why only 55k views?
5. How could people dislike this?
Heh. We have the same profile pic
3.This really should be.
4.A perfect mystery to me. Maybe the algorythm dont work.
5. We deffinetly live in a strange strange world.
Dislikers are probably session pros that would play it better. I know a few such folks cuz I played in a band of this kind for 5 ish years.
This deserved much more views. And it gives a hella good time to listen and watch.
@@steamlilly now we dont have a problem with dislikes anymore!
5. They were in tears and could not distinguish the like and dislike button. I know I'm in tears and it's not even my first listen
8:26 to 11:08 is probably the best solo I have ever heard out of any song from any genre
I don't even care for vibraphone much but this solo is just so fucking insane that I keep coming back to listen to it rather often
HOLY SH*T!! THE SOLOS HERE ARE INSANE!!!
Haha. Thanks a bunch! Yeah, the solos were pretty killer all the way around. We tried to do a slow build of solos to lead to the vibe solo finale. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
@@ContrabandReloaded Amazing 👏🏾
This song is still legendary to this day.
totally agreed!
to THIS day still
I'm still on loop
@@cooldebt same
I just can’t stop coming back to 4:00 it seriously plays in my head all the time. Such a good performance from everyone
Same!
This is still by far my favorite cover of Secret of the Forest. Thank you all for putting it together. ❤️
The jazz cover by The Consouls with strings is also great listening.
The percussion on this was absolutely killer. The vibe solo was stunning and I'm surprised the drummer didn't get lost in the infinite depth of his own pocket.
Imagine if the BGM was actually this version? I wouldn't have passed through that forest!
LOL! That's hilarious. :)
Same. I'd stay in the forest just for the music.
I’ve done that in the actual game... just hang out in the forest just to hear the track because otherwise your time there is way too short to appreciate it.
If you close your eyes, you ARE in that forest!
@@thiagotai AM
You know your vibe solo killed it when the sax players are doubled over laughing because of how badass it is. 🤣
Best bass line I've seen for this song
Thanks, Gabriel! Farko plays seriously sick lines.
I have been enjoying The Consouls versions of this with acoustic double bass but really enjoying the electric bass here - Farko is brilliant!
There are tears in my eyes...
Mine too...the last minute or so really brought em out. This mix is composed so emotionally. It's so fire I love it
Props to the drummer for playing amazingly! Nothing but respect for this man.
Wow! Beautiful performance, y’all! ❤❤❤
That was incredible!!!
you are incredible!!!
Hey there Mikey! Good taste in music too, I see👌
now THIS IS TRUE QUALITY. Absolutely beautiful.
i cant believe im so late to this, this is probably the most outstanding take on this amazing track. I was always a fan of this ost and would stay in the forest just to hear it, I am in love with this jazz rendition and there was no skipping out on quality either, the harmonies and melodies blend together so well. absolutely phenomenal job, best version of this song on this site. thank you
You aren't the only one late to the party but better late than never! This absolutely blew my mind.
@@MarleneAngel09 we are late but we are here now...!
I bet Mr Mitsuda has this on his fav's list just like the other 100k of us. Sickening jam fellas, this is the trump card to play in the redemption of humanity when the scales come out
5 seconds in and I already liked it. Then I heard a bit more and then I heard more and it's absolutely blowing my fucking mind and there's 10 minutes left and holy shit it just got better.
This isn't just a cover. This is a fucking passion project and tribute that exceeds all else.
Wonderful piece of art. You definitely hit the spot with your interpretation.
I loved all the solos and your overall flow you were in. Thank you guys!
That vibraphone guy need to chill! The house cannot whistand so much fire!
Their reaction at 09:51 is priceless, exactly how I reacted first seeing this cover, incredible!
Holy shit, this is what I fantasized about playing one day when I heard this BGM six years ago! Chrono Trigger's Soundtrack in general is a goldmine in the terms of musical exploration and improvisation.
Congrats!
This game was so much fun to play as a kid. It's fun to relive those memories decades later by performing the music. You're right; the Chrono Trigger soundtrack is a goldmine.
Thou can't be THIS brilliant... have a mercy...
Thank you so much! We're really happy with how this track turned out.
Who knew that the vibes vibing in the corner was actually just waiting to be unleashed.
Had to warm us up first with the rest so we wouldn't be killed by the sheer power of that solo hitting us all at once
..can we talk about how the pianist was killing it for two minutes straight, starting at about 2:40 . and then that guitar solo. and that moment at 8:48 / 9:52 when you realize the sax player and drummer were watching their vibraphonist KILL it! this was the dopest experience I've had in a minute! just subbed. I hope they're still making music.
That vibes solo is pure fire! Loved the bass throughout as well. Sick arrangement!
Thank you, Darius! We hope you enjoy some our new material coming out too. Cheers!
Love that the pianist is rocking an NES controller. Beautifully done folks!
Closed my eyes for eleven minutes and went directly to a magnificent nebula. Thank you for such an amazing piece of art. 💖
The slower tempo allows for so much more feel and groove to emerge from the piece. Incredible instrumentation and performance. Stunning the whole way through, props all round!!
I cannot come up with a compliment good enough for this piece of artwork. You've combined one of my favorite games and music genres. I could listen to this all day every day.
WOW! Thank you so much. Please feel free to list to this all day every day. It will help us with our video counts! :)
This is so crazy. The solos are out of this world and when they all play together.....INSANE!!!! This is the sound track of my childhood's greatest moments!!! SO AMAZING!!!!! That xylophone solo was ridiculousness.
The heart and soul that pours out of this takes my breath away every time.
This song has been my emotional core since middle school... way back in 1995.
Thank you for the most beautiful rendition of this masterpiece to date
I had to stop working to actually see you guys playing
I don’t comment often; but everybody’s playing on this was too good not to leave a complimentary message. Liked and subscribed.
The piano solo is perfect. The pianist builds it up slowly into an amazing climax.
All the solos on this are really great. Imo bass solos are soooooo hit or miss and can be really hard to pull off, but I really loved this one.
Also classiest lick ever @3:32-3:34 😉
Dude on the xylophone killin it like Roy Ayers..
Two of my favorite things, jazz and video game ost..
#blissful #eargasm
16bitBoomBap Roy Ayers is filthy! We're glad you enjoyed it. Welcome aboard! Always nice to meet fellow jazz fans.
Vibraphone*
@@robzea4011 on behalf of mallet devotees, i applaud u
This alone is enough to get me fully into jazz. Also, way to pull off a bass solo. Few groups actually do it well
Dylan Cruz Thanks a bunch! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Dylan. Jazz is definitely my favorite style of music to play, but unfortunately less than 1% of the population actually enjoys it. It's a blast covering video game songs in this format to open up solo sections. Farko always takes great bass solos!
This is the best version of this song I've ever heard.
04:37 - this is one of the sickest bass solos I’ve ever heard!
I've gotta buy a whole new wardrobe because of that vibraphone solo
I've watch this video 5 times over the course of 2 weeks and I think its one of the most amazing things i've ever seen. kudos.
It's been like 18 months, and I'm still coming back.
@@seppomuppit Been years and I still come back lmao, it's too good
@@aloysiusdevadanderabercrombie8 Still here. It's the best :)
I just started today and I've already looped it about 20 times. It's my new favourite after The Consouls' version(s).
This was posted well over a year ago, and only now reached my recommendations.
I listen tons of Chrono Trigger music interpretations. So thanks TH-cam for witholding the BEST ONE from me!
@唐三藏 It's so sad, now a year later. And other vids I rewatched do pop up in my recommendations. But not this one :(
Glad you commented tho' now I can listen to it again and bingewatch the entire channel
My man on the piano was doing WORK!!!
10:48 he actually missed the note but kept going like a badass to deliver the best solo the world has ever seen
Bad soloists make bad solos because of their mistakes, good soloists make good solos despite their mistakes
Yasunori Mitsuda would be proud!
How is good this jazz playing in the night
Dudes.... this could very well be the best arrangement of this song. Mad props to you guys. Excellent work.
Johnny Pérez Thank you very much, Johnny! We're really happy with how this arrangement turned out.
I love Chrono trigger and haven't herd a rendition quite like this before. Reminds me heavily of some of the Japanese jazz my dad would listen to when I was a kid. Love it!! ♥️♥️
That vibraphone solo was the most amazing vibraphone solo I've ever heard!!!
Also the bass tone is unreal. Honestly there are so many compliments that I could give you guys
@@benb4728 It's so hard to not just gush over this song because everyone did such an amazing job lmao, that solo was def the highlight (not only the most amazing vibes solo i've ever seen but probably one of the most amazing solos i've seen ever on _any_ instrument) but even without it this song would be a genuine masterpiece
That was quite possibly the best vibraphone solo I’ve ever seen. Gary Burton definitely has some competition
Always find myself coming back to this masterpiece. It’s just too perfect!
Absolutely everyone in this ensemble plays their part, it's fantastic.
Such a classic! Epic
y'alls vibes player is from another dimension...
Alto sax man is killing it.
5 years late to this gem. Wonderful solos. Magical production, everyone.
9:25 That accuracy
he missed one
It's hard to do this song justice with a cover but you not only did just that but you've elevated the piece to gamecover greatness. The timing, well balanced ad libs, subtle grooves and every solo was amazing in it's own right.
This band is amazing. I just wish that you guys came back with the videos.
Oh... my... God... That xylophone solo! You guys are way too good! This is by far the coolest version of this song I have ever heard. Great work all around! All of your solos are crazy good. You guys kill it every time, and then some. Keep up the insanely awesome work! :D
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yeah, Jacques was really slaying on that vibes solo. More VGM videos are on the way.
This is ridiculously high level. By far the best vgm jazz band performance i've seen on the internet. Hope you guys keep making these videos. Games like CT have some amazing and complex songs. Hearing them played in jazz that well is an extraordinaire experience. As everyone else already pointed, excelent job. And thank you.
WOW! Thank you so much for the kind words. That really means a lot to us. Chrono Trigger is an amazing game with an equally amazing soundtrack. We've got more arrangements on the way. Thanks for your support!
This is really amazing, i love this version !!!
Wow. The Algorithm has certainly blessed me today. You guys are something special!
You guys are too damn good. You guys gotta try to get in to play at MAGFest one of these years
We would LOVE to play at MAGFest! Right now we are just trying to complete the second half of the album for a 2018 release.
@@ContrabandReloaded you earned a new sub today and I'll be on the lookout for that album for sure.
awesome
That went right from "chilled out remake" straight to "melt your face off" in a way that I think would make Mitsuda-san proud!
Yo the way you flip the rhythm at 4:01 is chef's kiss! Stabs are delish
my god that xylophone guy is amazing edit: vibraphone oops
We agree!
Vibraphone*
With that bass line, perfection.
Vibrate
Man, such an awesome part of the song. I was skipping through and parts of the video and had to watch that entire part!
DAMN that vibes player is BURNIN! Props to him for a killer solo!
Absolutely ridiculous! That vibes solo... All the solos... just made me smile. All of you gelled so well together. It was beautiful.
Awesome arrangement. I love how the comping during the vibes solo sneakily hinted at the insanity that was to ensue~ from the guitar swells to the increasingly complex drum pattern. The envelope follower (?) on the bass added a really interesting texture to the whole thing. The production value on all this is excellent!
Thank you so much, Steven! Yes, the envelope follower on the bass was super cool to bring the song to a climax. We definitely wanted to gradually build the song intensity towards that ending vibe solo. We're happy with how it came off.
Super marine Dunkirk
And speaking of production, how about the production choice to add a bit of delay to the piano? Such a subtle nod to the original SNES soundtrack that I don't think many people would even think to do.
That’s the best vibraphone solo I’ve ever heard. Complete sorcery
So y’all just gonna mess with the space time continuum like this? +1 sub for sure
Still the best version of this soundtrack. Akira’s still hearing you guys!
This materia summon animation is really long but I gotta say, I watch it every time.
Every now and then I come back to this song and absolutely enjoy the buildup. The sheer joy of the drummer at 10:44 as he ramps up says it all.
I rarely listen to a 12 minute song twice in a row but here I am still. Vibraphone solo was nutty so hell yeah to that guy
What a talented group of individuals, bravo!
Big props to the bassist, that was quite the solo. 👌
Just found this...I was unnerved at first when the intensity picks up as I normally listen to this song as quiet background music to focus while working, but damn does this version JAM! I stopped working to really listen to it. Thanks for sharing with all of us! You guys just got yourself a new subscriber!
The bass line always drives this song. Love it. Great arrangement!
Vibraphone solo kill'n it too. Hot Damn!
The greatest xylophone solo of all time to one of the greatest tracks of one of the greatest games of all time.
Was playing some Mario Kart and clicked on this because it was in my recommended...a couple minutes in, and Mario Kart was muted to let this masterpiece take helm of my spoiled ears
Omg i do not have words tô describe this. I think even someone who does not know Chrono Trigger would be transported to another life while listening to this
The grooves and drum arrangements are incredible and made all the difference in this cover. Impressive how it changed this music and all the solos are killers.
Holy crap! Thanks for making and performing this for us! It's my fav song from the series! Please keep it up. Much love from Netherlands.
You are very welcome, Adolfo. It's our favorite song from the series too.
jeez that xylophone solo
11 minutes of gold
Andy Coe doesn't get enough credit for that crisp sound that really ties the layers together. Awesome job, Andy!
Jesus, that vibraphone precision. How do you even not miss.
This is the best version I've ever heard. Thank you!
That xylophone is AMAZING!
Audible "oooooo" at the start of that vibe solo
8:26 that moment i was not expecting and it had me jumping up in the air like i was at a concert and it just kept going and going. Such a awesome part.
Jesus, this is amazing. Thank you for bringing me to tears. Beautiful adaptation. Love jazz and never thought I’d even hear chrono anything especially by jazz musicians. Thank you! Keep up the amazing work
Love getting earraped by an unskipable ad while trying to listen to this
The tingling sensation I get from listening to this is almost overwhelming. I have so many goosebumps that I feel like my skin is going to crust off.
Giving a listener goosebumps is one of the highest forms of flattery that you can give a musician. We're honored that this arrangement resonated with you in that way.
