Thanks for the video when I was a kid in the '60s my neighbor had a 68 Shelby Mustang he worked at a o Smith his was a four-speed car his name was Kenny crawl he's no longer alive the car is long gone who knows where it is if it exists he traded it in 1970 for a Superbird the super bird was a nice car it was new was a 4:40 4-speed car his wife conveniently destroyed it she rear-ended a big rig on the freeway boozing it up with her girlfriends sad to say the car was destroyed minor injuries to the occupants in the car I remember riding in the show but it was cool he always had cool cars he worked at any oa o Smith for 35 years he said he remembers making those fiberglass hoods he said it was a pain in the ass but it was one of his jobs have a great day thanks for all the information I remember when those cars were cheap I remember seeing is 68 GT350 for 3,200 on a used car lot but I bought a Camaro instead how dumb was that have a great day enjoy the weather I'll keep watching keeps me inspired I can't build cars or race anymore cuz I'm old timer
Growing up in a small town during the 60's and 70's, Car Culture was King. In High School I had a 60 Belaire 2h with a 348, Tri power. All the fast guys knew not to mess with 'Chins' Mustang. It was a 68, 500KR, convertable. Fastest car around bar none. No one wanted to race him. Same color as the car in this video, with a white top
The headlights on a 1967 weren't really a choice. They were supposed to be inboard, but several states required a minimum distance between the headlights and the outboard lights were made for those states. I grew up within walking distance of Koons Ford in the 1960's and 1970's. Super Stock Magazine was a local / regional magazine back then. it was sold at local speed shops and it covered local drag racers. My father drag raced semi-professionally from the late 1950's to around 1980 and had a subscription to Super Stock Magazine. In his early racing days, he knew the big names in racing and they knew him.
It's believed that the first approximately 200 cars had the inboard headlights until the laws was understood and the remainder produced were outboards...
Backyard Barn Finds Friend , Hello Great Show on this very awesome 1968 Shelby Ford Mustang pony muscle car !! I just wish the one thing, that you could have ,did and that's to start this car up ,so we could hear , that awesome V8 engine roar to life !! But thank you for sharing this !!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪
An excellent historical Vlog about the Shelby mustang! I learned quite a lot! A very nice unrestored example! Excellent documentation about the car's history.
Buddy of mine in PA had one of those 68's. Same color too. It's a 500KR with the 428CJ motor. I have pictures of it somewhere. Real deal car that had been parked since the 80's. Not sure if he still has it but it was legit.
Great video and podcast. That car looks like the car that was online auctioned off a few years ago (I bid on it). I remember it being in Luray Va (auctioneer was VA or W. Va based) and the Koon’s sticker. Cool….great info
Interesting indeed, but it would take a little more actual fact retrieval to convince us that it was the same car in the magazine. They should get Bob Perkins involved with this one, I can't think of anyone more qualified to do this inquiry. Certainly a Marti Report would be a good start.
Great video! Seems like the car in the magazine has the license plate visible. Can they possibly run the plate history on the car that you reviewed? 02-604
Great vid and history. My understanding of the 67 fiberglass problems, could be just an urban legend, is that the prototype 67 was thrashed and bent up, then given to Shelby to build the molds from, so the production pieces didn't quite fit and Shelby took a bad rap for poor quality. Partly why Shelby got out of the manufacture business with Ford, with Ford taking it over and Shelby basically just licensing his name from then on. The engines in '68 were not shelby-specific, like they were in 67. So 67 was the final true Shelby. I would love a 67 dual quad 500, but my bucket list is the Shelby-tweaked hipo 289 gt350 4speed. But any Shelby mustang is an amazing car.
More video of the vehicle, and less of your Sparco shirt and flailing of the arms may improve video quality. Anyway, this car is okay, but there was a 68 GT Mustang vinyl roof Hardtop I saw on Adam-12 which looked interesting.
hey Parker, thanks for this great video. I have 5 original tires dated 1968 for a shelby mustang. they are Goodyear speedway 350, E70-15 tires. contact me if the owner of this gt500 might be interested since it is a survivor. thanks for all you do with your videos. Joey
a big deal ? i bought two as a package deal when i was 15 washing dishes in a local restaurant they gave anything with a v8 away i regret selling s lot of those cars but i did in fact have 2 and a 67 convertible mustang.
Far too many lf these cars are "restored" which is just another word for taking any factory originality out of it. I hope the next owner leaves it as is. It's curent condition tells the story of its life - including the crack in the grille surround. It's only original once.
love this channel...very detailed on the information. Loved Super Stock magazine too!!

Wow, good video, that is a hell of a barn find.... talk about a time capsule🎉

I came here to say the same!😂
@@jackdeforrest You are confusing the upper roof lights in air extractor scoop with the inboard to outboard switch.

Dude you’re freaking killing it! You’re so knowledgeable about every topic you’re talking about. Respect brother!
Thanks paintitblack!

They should ask Fred Jones
So what did it run in the 1/4 in the Super Stock mag article?
WOW! I seen the first video of the car you did! What are they wanting for the car?
Love the channel!
Good video! 1969-70 Shelby s do have bow hoods like the 1967. Because of the strong springs
Was this the same car that's in the American Pickers tv show. The barn looks the same and the car too? Love these episodes. Keep it up
Great video! Seems like the car in the magazine has the license plate visible. Can they possibly run the plate history on the car that you reviewed? 02-604
67 had a beautiful wood steering wheel, 68 used a standard Mustang one with a Shelby horn pad
Amazing 🤩
Great video good sir
Can only imagine how much this gem is worth.
Damn cool video!!
It's interesting to basically backwards understand a subject such as this. There's lots of subtlies in the process.
Really well produced informative videos. Why didn’t you get the ‘Mari’. (?) report?

what were the times in the magazine?
It's a 428 Furd so it ran...junk@slow MPH. 🤣🤣🤣
Is this car still in the Shenandoah valley? I personally would service it in Harrisonburg in the early 80s
Beautiful, I'm Drooling. I Finely can pass away. NO But I thought it Fit.

That’s a pretty car faded paint all!
Pretty common knowledge that only a handful of Shelby Mustangs were built at Venice facility, most 65s, all 66s as well as all 67s were built at LAX.
To be honest, growing up on the east coast I just assumed it was all the same place 😂
Notes: You pronounced Metuchen incorrectly, and the plant was in Edison Township.

Koons Ford Falls Church, that dealership still exist exclusively Ford..
Just because you didn't know where it was doesn't mean it's lost!😅

Some inaccurate information, but overall interesting.
Remember Ford took over all production in 1968,hence the tilt, tele wheels,Air Cond, auto trans, power steering/p brakes.
Mantuchin??
