Andy would you mind doing a video on easy to load quickly gunss, please? I've had a Sig MCX for ages and its a great laugh but reloading the clips is a chore. I'm considering either pistol or rifle but I just want something I can keep firing without forced, long breaks and which is accurate and powerful enough for medium distance targets. For instance I can group the Sig within around 1.5-2.5 inches at around 50 yards which I feel is pretty good for what the gun is - though granted thats with cheap pellets and a lot of practice. Ideally I want to drop a handful of pellets/bb's in and let it run but I don't want something throwing projectiles in all directions. Is there a good, accurate bb gun or a better way of loading pellets? I would be really interested to see a comparison of a few with the ups and downs of each. Oh and cost isn't really a big issue unless we're getting into really high end stuff. I don't mind a few hundred quid or even a little more if its a good gun that I can look after for a long time.
I would be careful with this paintball marker, because it is capable of firing both shots (each shot exceeding 1ft/lb muzzle energy) with one pull of the trigger. I would stick with markers that only allow one shot per trigger pull.
Underrated. My wife wants to fight everyone. She unfortunately got CHF and has a pacemaker, and still wants to duke it out with anyone who stares at her wrong.

Great video as always Andy, glad your firearms team has backed up what I've suspected for a long time, I bought my 16 Joule HDS 68 and 11 Joule HDP and HDR 50's from a well known U.K. RFD and was assured by them that they was classed as paintball markers and did not fall under the same rules as air pistols and rifles for power limits, they sent the 3 guns through the post to me at my work address. I trusted what they said and uploaded a few videos to my TH-cam channel featuring these guns and as a result many of my friends went out and bought the same guns at the same power level from the same well known RFD, thinking there was no power limits I even converted some to run on HPA which resulted in crazy high power outputs. I do volunteer work for the Police and have asked several colleagues how they class the T4E range of "Home Defence" guns after they had a play with them at the range and they have also agreed that they should be classed as air pistols and should not exceed 8.1 joules or 6 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. I have now had all my T4E guns apart and fitted air restrictors and softer springs to bring the power down to below 7.5 Joules and updated my TH-cam videos to try and warn others not to be in possession of what in the U.K. is classed as a section 5 firearm.

Great job Andy. I have the 16 joules version over here on the "other side of the pond", and it hits HARD...really HARD. I've actually purchased some .68 caliber pepper balls for it and have it tucked away for when its needed. Hopefully I NEVER need it, but it's there just in case. This is what I really want to know. How do paint balls fare at the higher pressure? A pepper-paint combo with indelible paint would be awesome for deterring an assailant and identifying them later.
@@rich7447 Yeah. Hitting “hard” isn’t going to do much. That’s not stopping power. People on drugs have taken 6-10 actual 9mm shots and still been able to attack. Being shot fatally (though took them minutes to lose consciousness) didn’t stop them. Slight pain on a mucked up creep won’t be noticed. You will have a home defense air gun enema.
Just found this and yes what fun to own, very practical when offered up to someone that had broken in. loaded or not. Plus you can get really ingenuous with a 4mm threading tap, drilled in the centre of cheap plastic target slugs, which happens to be any arrow head screw in size. I have the torch (which is very bright) with the laser dot, and the dot with the torch off so the HDS can be seen can prove a very strong point if needed, again loaded or not.
I watched both reviews, as an American in the UK. A RCO , Instructor and well alot more.. These look freaken fun. I will be purchasing both soon. I can think of soo many reasons to have these over my section 1 & 2 🙄 goodies. Keep it up from a new subscriber in Yorkshire.
The baddie will most likely give you a good 'Judging' after you have shot him with a rubber ball gun.. I have been shot by a fully tuned up ram .68 shotgun and it hurt like f**k (army training excercise) but it did not stop me or any of my group in proceeding..
@@todderstaffes Two shots just ain't enough. Moved out to Canada and ive played with some tuned Pepperball/Riot ball guns. I might take 2-3 Rubber Balls and keep moving, but after the 5th, 6th, 7th shots it becomes a bit depressing. These are magazine fed rifles and handguns though. Theres no FPE restriction here, so some of these nylon coated balls dent frying pans. But between you and me, when pusb comes to absolute shove...the .357 Big Bore PCP I have is all I need (I have one that doesnt require a license and therefor doesnt get held to the same storage standards) Edit: To everyone else: Pain compliance weapons and less than lethals like rubber balls require big volume of fire. Thats why Police walk in big firing lines and lay down fire on groups.

But, come into my home and threaten the safety of anyone in it, and all bets are off. The idea that "home defense" would make anything prohibited is just beyond me.

You can buy this gun in Canada , replicas aren’t banned. I own a bunch of replica air guns, air soft, crossbows and compound bows and I live in Toronto
This will not protect your family, even in the 16 joules version. It just doesn't have enough stopping power. A determined/drunk/drugged up aggressor will keep coming even if you hit him with both shots. The only kind of aggressor who would be discouraged by this (most petty burglars, for example) would run away as soon as they realize the house is occupied anyway. The real psycopaths, those wo will in fact hurt you and yours, won't be stopped by this. Your best options, aside from having strong locks and doors and a large dog or two, are: -A large can of strong pepper spray/gel (actual pepper spray, OC, not CS), gel is preferred indoors -A good melee weapon, baton (collapsible ASP-style batons are compact and easy to wield even if you're not very strong), baseball bat, club, machete; a knife is good as a last option but since it requires to get within kissing range of the aggressor, expect to get injured/killed in the process -A modern self-cocking crossbow like the EK Adder or the AR-6 Stinger. These have a rate of fire comparable to a bolt-action rifle, not great but a hell of a lot better than a conventional single-shot x-bow, and still higher than a classic hand bow (and easier to aim). If you pick that route you will need broadhead bolts, especially on the weaker types like the Stinger or the EK Vlad, the field tips will penetrate but won't stop the threat right away unless you hit the heart or brain (never aim for the head, always aim for the torso). And I now realize this comment is 2 years old but ih well. Hope it helps somebody.

I know it's not the same but there's a chap who's designed a 3D printed Nerf flintlock. With the new printing materials I can't see it being too hard to upgrade that to an airgun. Pirates forever! ;)
I'm in the USA. I live in a 55+ RV (caravan) park so I don't want to fire anything that can pass through thin walls. But BTW a common practice here is modding these to get 40 or more Joules.
Indeed, old 'Too Tall' from Defcon Paintball has used both the revolver and the shotgun as a sidearm. But then he likes sneaking up on people and unleashing full auto on them, so he has a sense of humour.

I was an avid paintball player with family and friends years ago. With paintball you have 200 in a hopper an at least 200 or more on your person. Heck we even played shirts and skins (ouch!) I think "capture the flag" would be a hoot with 2 teams armed with these! As far as home defense, well, if it's all you have then have at it! I would definitely use pepper balls though. That's not quite what he means. You can within reason use pretty much anything to defend yourself BUT having an offensive weapon specifically for that reason is a big no-no.
take note of how a certain city in the uk has a higher murder rate than the US also the uk has a complete lock down on weapons the only loop hole is black powder weapons
The greatest thing of this gun, is to load whatever you want. I have made some shells whit stonsalt, schrot(hacked fishingweights), broken glass, etc. But to have the n essentially power, its needful to remove the plastik plug in the valve. Its more then 24 joules. Very effective...
@@Adz24z Criminals have been known to press charges in the UK against people who have defended themselves - and the police have then gone on to then arrest them. I even know an Irish chap who beat up two assailants who tried to violently rob him at an ATM. They reported him to the cops, he was arrested and it went to court.
Home defence and self defence is not a crime, there is specific legislation allowing for self defence and protection of property. If the force used was necessary, proportionate to the threat and reasonable in the circumstances you are fine.

I can't believe how many people leave comments without actually listening to what you say (or possibly skipping to the "fun stuff"), so maybe some will read other comments first. Andy did not say nor implied that he approves of this for Home Defence use. That is just the name of the gun, as decided by Umarex, which Andy has no control over and wouldn't be providing an accurate and informative review if he renamed it himself.

Looks like England's self-defence laws are even more restrictive than Sweden's. Though they are vague here, you're allowed to defend yourself, or someone else, with the ammount of force the situation requires. At least in theory, it's kinda up to the whims of the court wether you're in the clear or not. There have been people convicted for defending themselves by just punching the attacker, but othertimes someone was cleared in court after beating the living hell out of their attacker with an axe, to the point where the attacker was severely brain damaged.

You do realize the HDR pistol can be modified to 20 joules? That's definitely enough to get an intruder to back off. Not sure about this shotgun though.
it can break bones when tuned correctly also you can buy harder rubber balls it's not pleasant getting shot in the face would feel like an aluminum bat.

In general, a lot of us in the EU aren't allowed to do anything in case of a home invasion and it´s messed up. We have been brainwashed with pacifism for years and years and years. But with the growing number of killings and extremely violent home invasions, many of us are more than willing to go to jail.

No homicide indictment but since he didnt have a permit for the shotgun he was charged by information - a summary offence of having a shotgun without a certificate
Two rounds would hurt yes but they aren't powerful enough to incapacitate a threat. Most likey it would escalate the attacker into more violence. I feel terrible for folks in a country that can't legally defend themselves and their loved ones.

14j is enough tbh, it’s mostly going to be used for cans and stuff and if someone did force me to use it I’d rather just make them think twice, not kill them and I’m pretty sure 40j would do a pile more damage. Plus 18 rounds of rubber bullets to any part of the body in quick succession would do just that.
People with political power tell you that you don't need weapons, tell you weapons are for bad people but they have bodyguards shielded vehicles and of course weapons.

I have a 68 caliber rhino spitfire paintball gun that has a quick anytime use 24 oz tank on it something like this system this has, hit a button on the gun & it engages & opens the pin in the tank & dumps Co2 into the chamber .It has a velocity of 540 FPS turned all the way up & I run a ported barrel for a straighter shot & a full auto hopper . I use 68 caliber steel balls with rubber coating , I can get off 6 shots with one pull of the trigger or go semi auto with the flip of a switch . It took a long time to get the gun to run the way it does & to get parts to make it work & well worth the money I paid for everything & the time I put into it . I can put a round through a1/2 inch piece of plywood .
Protect from what? Rain? Feral pigeons? Strongly worded letters? I'm a shooter but there only Gun Crime around my way is 1 bloke took out a drone that was overflying his land with a 12 guage. The number of illegal guns in circulation is so small it's virtually a non issue, hence why you're more than 4x less likely to be murdered or a victim of violennt crime in the UK than the USA and if you compare cities Chicago has about 30 times the murder rate of London. Part of it is due to living on an island with easier to police borders, partly due to concentrations of Poverty. In the UK basically poor people can't afford illegal guns, so armed robbery is very limited.

More so than that, the gun is a symbol of trust between the people and the government. We all need a way to keep things flowing and organized. Difference here is that we treat the feds as a necessary evil rather than a man-made god that we must ask permission from for the slightest thing. The government didn't create us. Nature, god, parents created us. We respect natural rights and look at the feds as just an organization of people, which it is. They've crossed lines here and in other places, massacred the innocent when unchecked. With a gun, if all else fails, we can ride those people out of town on a log if needed
Its a shame that our silly airgun laws restrict alot of our fun. A gentleman named Rune Rebel has done the modifications that are legal in his homeland Norway. He also does power tests with his Norway legal versions of the Home Defence Series. A thoroughly nice chap and great content on his channel. He loves his airguns and loves showing us his collection. It’s crazy watching these videos. I love this channel, and as an American viewer I think it’s so funny that people try to find loopholes for fake BB guns in the UK, and I am here sitting in my living room with my 30 round A.R15 with a Glock 17 on my waist band and a fully decked out sniper rifle on my wall 🇺🇸 god bless America! And hopefully the UK Government will give they’re citizens basic rights to defend themselves

I love Britain, I’ve traveled there myself and it’s beautiful. And I hope our American ideals will transfer over to the British people and maybe one day become a free nation as well.

This is what I really want to know. How do paint balls fare at the higher pressure? A pepper-paint combo with indelible paint would be awesome for deterring an assailant and identifying them later.

Yeah. Hitting “hard” isn’t going to do much. That’s not stopping power.
People on drugs have taken 6-10 actual 9mm shots and still been able to attack. Being shot fatally (though took them minutes to lose consciousness) didn’t stop them. Slight pain on a mucked up creep won’t be noticed. You will have a home defense air gun enema.

Just found this and yes what fun to own, very practical when offered up to someone that had broken in. loaded or not. Plus you can get really ingenuous with a 4mm threading tap, drilled in the centre of cheap plastic target slugs, which happens to be any arrow head screw in size. I have the torch (which is very bright) with the laser dot, and the dot with the torch off so the HDS can be seen can prove a very strong point if needed, again loaded or not.
I watched both reviews, as an American in the UK. A RCO , Instructor and well alot more.. These look freaken fun. I will be purchasing both soon. I can think of soo many reasons to have these over my section 1 & 2 🙄 goodies. Keep it up from a new subscriber in Yorkshire.

Moved out to Canada and ive played with some tuned Pepperball/Riot ball guns. I might take 2-3 Rubber Balls and keep moving, but after the 5th, 6th, 7th shots it becomes a bit depressing. These are magazine fed rifles and handguns though.
Theres no FPE restriction here, so some of these nylon coated balls dent frying pans.
But between you and me, when pusb comes to absolute shove...the .357 Big Bore PCP I have is all I need (I have one that doesnt require a license and therefor doesnt get held to the same storage standards)
Edit: To everyone else: Pain compliance weapons and less than lethals like rubber balls require big volume of fire. Thats why Police walk in big firing lines and lay down fire on groups.

You can buy this gun in Canada , replicas aren’t banned. I own a bunch of replica air guns, air soft, crossbows and compound bows and I live in Toronto
This will not protect your family, even in the 16 joules version. It just doesn't have enough stopping power. A determined/drunk/drugged up aggressor will keep coming even if you hit him with both shots. The only kind of aggressor who would be discouraged by this (most petty burglars, for example) would run away as soon as they realize the house is occupied anyway. The real psycopaths, those wo will in fact hurt you and yours, won't be stopped by this.
Your best options, aside from having strong locks and doors and a large dog or two, are:
-A large can of strong pepper spray/gel (actual pepper spray, OC, not CS), gel is preferred indoors
-A good melee weapon, baton (collapsible ASP-style batons are compact and easy to wield even if you're not very strong), baseball bat, club, machete; a knife is good as a last option but since it requires to get within kissing range of the aggressor, expect to get injured/killed in the process
-A modern self-cocking crossbow like the EK Adder or the AR-6 Stinger. These have a rate of fire comparable to a bolt-action rifle, not great but a hell of a lot better than a conventional single-shot x-bow, and still higher than a classic hand bow (and easier to aim). If you pick that route you will need broadhead bolts, especially on the weaker types like the Stinger or the EK Vlad, the field tips will penetrate but won't stop the threat right away unless you hit the heart or brain (never aim for the head, always aim for the torso).
And I now realize this comment is 2 years old but ih well. Hope it helps somebody.

I'm in the USA. I live in a 55+ RV (caravan) park so I don't want to fire anything that can pass through thin walls. But BTW a common practice here is modding these to get 40 or more Joules.
These are good for firing paintballs. The HDR 50 in particular has been used as a sidearm paintball marker.
Indeed, old 'Too Tall' from Defcon Paintball has used both the revolver and the shotgun as a sidearm. But then he likes sneaking up on people and unleashing full auto on them, so he has a sense of humour.

I was an avid paintball player with family and friends years ago. With paintball you have 200 in a hopper an at least 200 or more on your person. Heck we even played shirts and skins (ouch!)
I think "capture the flag" would be a hoot with 2 teams armed with these!
As far as home defense, well, if it's all you have then have at it! I would definitely use pepper balls though.

That's not quite what he means. You can within reason use pretty much anything to defend yourself BUT having an offensive weapon specifically for that reason is a big no-no.
take note of how a certain city in the uk has a higher murder rate than the US also the uk has a complete lock down on weapons the only loop hole is black powder weapons

The greatest thing of this gun, is to load whatever you want. I have made some shells whit stonsalt, schrot(hacked fishingweights), broken glass, etc. But to have the n essentially power, its needful to remove the plastik plug in the valve. Its more then 24 joules. Very effective...

@@Adz24z Criminals have been known to press charges in the UK against people who have defended themselves - and the police have then gone on to then arrest them. I even know an Irish chap who beat up two assailants who tried to violently rob him at an ATM. They reported him to the cops, he was arrested and it went to court.

If the force used was necessary, proportionate to the threat and reasonable in the circumstances you are fine.

Looks like England's self-defence laws are even more restrictive than Sweden's. Though they are vague here, you're allowed to defend yourself, or someone else, with the ammount of force the situation requires. At least in theory, it's kinda up to the whims of the court wether you're in the clear or not. There have been people convicted for defending themselves by just punching the attacker, but othertimes someone was cleared in court after beating the living hell out of their attacker with an axe, to the point where the attacker was severely brain damaged.

You do realize the HDR pistol can be modified to 20 joules? That's definitely enough to get an intruder to back off.

in 2017 a house breaker was smashing his way through the door of a caravan with a axe, the victum shot him through his door with a short barrel 12 gauge killing him . No homicide indictment but since he didnt have a permit for the shotgun he was charged by information - a summary offence of having a shotgun without a certificate

I have owned both versions of this Umarex and I would strongly advise against considering this a home defense tool.

Two rounds would hurt yes but they aren't powerful enough to incapacitate a threat. Most likey it would escalate the attacker into more violence. I feel terrible for folks in a country that can't legally defend themselves and their loved ones.

It was legal in Spain (even the 11 joules version) until the Government made it illegal recently, blank pistols either. Nothing harmful can be used to defend yourself at home. This is gansta paradise, you know, all the rights to criminals.

Depending on where you are it can be converted to 40j
14j is enough tbh, it’s mostly going to be used for cans and stuff and if someone did force me to use it I’d rather just make them think twice, not kill them and I’m pretty sure 40j would do a pile more damage. Plus 18 rounds of rubber bullets to any part of the body in quick succession would do just that.
People with political power tell you that you don't need weapons, tell you weapons are for bad people but they have bodyguards shielded vehicles and of course weapons.

I have a 68 caliber rhino spitfire paintball gun that has a quick anytime use 24 oz tank on it something like this system this has, hit a button on the gun & it engages & opens the pin in the tank & dumps Co2 into the chamber .It has a velocity of 540 FPS turned all the way up & I run a ported barrel for a straighter shot & a full auto hopper . I use 68 caliber steel balls with rubber coating , I can get off 6 shots with one pull of the trigger or go semi auto with the flip of a switch . It took a long time to get the gun to run the way it does & to get parts to make it work & well worth the money I paid for everything & the time I put into it . I can put a round through a1/2 inch piece of plywood .
In the U.K you can't defend yourself? You gotta just HOPE the bad person doesn't hurt you or your family and children? NO SIR.
I think you should be able to make an arms license to have the roght to defend yourself with a gun as many bad and untrained people could use the guns
It might not be ideal for home defense, but it'd be perfect for people who are too tough for airsoft but not tough enough for paintball

I'm a shooter but there only Gun Crime around my way is 1 bloke took out a drone that was overflying his land with a 12 guage.
The number of illegal guns in circulation is so small it's virtually a non issue, hence why you're more than 4x less likely to be murdered or a victim of violennt crime in the UK than the USA and if you compare cities Chicago has about 30 times the murder rate of London.
Part of it is due to living on an island with easier to police borders, partly due to concentrations of Poverty.
In the UK basically poor people can't afford illegal guns, so armed robbery is very limited.
He does have every natural right and it supersedes any government who may be infringing upon it. Just because the state violates an individual’s rights, doesn’t mean that right disappears. That’s what differentiates rights from mere privileges any ruler or ruling class might condescend to grant its subjects. Every human being has the natural right to self defense, regardless of what anyone says, particularly the still mentally and martially subjugated commoner progeny of loyalist tyrants….

It's actually a really fun paintball gun .....as a home defense weapon against an adrenaline and probably drug fuelled person I'd rather chance a tin of beans or anything hefty to be thrown
At least a baseball bat or be in America where if someone breaks in you can shoot them. I have my .357 in my desk loaded if anyone gets the bright idea to break in.

More so than that, the gun is a symbol of trust between the people and the government. We all need a way to keep things flowing and organized. Difference here is that we treat the feds as a necessary evil rather than a man-made god that we must ask permission from for the slightest thing. The government didn't create us. Nature, god, parents created us. We respect natural rights and look at the feds as just an organization of people, which it is. They've crossed lines here and in other places, massacred the innocent when unchecked. With a gun, if all else fails, we can ride those people out of town on a log if needed

Its a shame that our silly airgun laws restrict alot of our fun. A gentleman named Rune Rebel has done the modifications that are legal in his homeland Norway. He also does power tests with his Norway legal versions of the Home Defence Series. A thoroughly nice chap and great content on his channel. He loves his airguns and loves showing us his collection. I love this channel, and as an American viewer I think it’s so funny that people try to find loopholes for fake BB guns in the UK, and I am here sitting in my living room with my 30 round A.R15 with a Glock 17 on my waist band and a fully decked out sniper rifle on my wall 🇺🇸 god bless America! And hopefully the UK Government will give they’re citizens basic rights to defend themselves

NEVER HAPPEN ,rulers spent 970 years dissarming british people, why should they reverse it, unless theres a new Hitler or an oil/gold field they need to take oves (sorry i meant, helpless iniginous people who need protecting from who knows) and they need canon fodder. and it looks like USA is headed the same way ! even air guns are regulated stupidly.....a gun hand or long firing softplastic bbs requires club membership unless two tone painted when 18+ is only requirement so if your waving it in public the police know if to shoot or not. this activity requires bullet responce regardless.terrorists can access two paint colours.. if the weapon fires pellets or harmfull steel bbs, its classed as an air pistol or rifle and requires 18+ only ,two tone not required. so i can own a black uzi rep no questions as long as its pellet or steel bb firing, if i wave it in public i risk getting shot, fair enough, only the braindead and criminals brandish weapons in public and require removal from the gene pool ASAP.
I love Britain, I’ve traveled there myself and it’s beautiful. And I hope our American ideals will transfer over to the British people and maybe one day become a free nation as well.

would you oil the barrels with air gun oil? or leave them dry? thanks.
You only need to oil the barrel if they are not smoth bore (apart from cleaning)
