The way you describe the treble is confusing; You say it's nothing special yet at the same time you describe the sound as smooth, neutral and detailed without peaks, which is exactly what really good treble should be like.
Silentsky that’s why reviews aren’t good when it comes to sound. Just check the frequency response graphs. Reviews are good when it comes to build, comfort and things of that nature though
@@WillJukedTheBox Measurements are essential and useless at the same time. FQ Response charts are a helpful indication, but there's so much more to the spectrum of how equipment can sound that we can't get from looking at graphs.
@@WillJukedTheBox No offense, but that's an absolutely terrible idea. He should describe the sound to the best of his ability, because what graphs say and what you actually hear when you listen to them are completely different.
I use these at night when I play online and listen to music for hours on end...These are so heavy and can also be an issue in a warm room as the materials don't allow for much breathing. I really enjoy the sound signature though and I'm glad I have them.
I like the background and the different colors of the lights that are matching the wallpaper on your monitor..

The 10 decibel peak from 1 to 2 khz is like an icepick to the ear drums. I like mids...but not THAT much. Surprised you thought mids were lacking considering that peak...
Thanks for saving me some money as I was really really curious about monoprice’s planars. Planars are supposed to be great for vocals because of how it makes it sound realistic , shocked to hear this doesn’t do it for vocals!

I owned the open back M1060 for a while, but I ended up selling it. Don't get me wrong, they sounded great, but I could not live with the build. I knew that I was going to end up braking them at some point in time. I upgraded to DT1990's and have never looked back.

I felt a bit off-put by these headphones. The mids were very grainy..lacked detail or smoothness and had a nasty peak..I wanna say around 1k-2k. Otherwise, everything else was great..the mids killed it for me, though.

@@alfredoblanco3265 M1060C go on sale as low as 260. Getting them stock, I'd probably go with sundaras. But getting them with an open back cover is worth every penny Imo.
if i could actually bloody get the modhouse argon i might actually consider it, but the whole, not in stock thing and waiting over a month to get it, not really wanting to do that

Good review! These are nice looking headphones. I get confused by all the Monoprice products out there- 560, 565, 565c, 1060, 1065, 🙀🙀🙀 - which are the best sounding?
BTW, If you like forward vocals, you ought to give the RS2e a listen, the vocals sound so natural and clear without the veil of the 6xx
The 1065 isn't one as far as I'm aware but the 1060 is generally regarded as the best with mods.
You should mod them to be open back and re-review/compare it if possible!

could you review the monoprice m560
I bought the Monoprice M560s and they are the only headphone I've been disappointed in (luckily they were refurbs and cheap.) They have such a weird sound and are super uncomfortable. I believe they are unrelated to the M1060 but I'm hesitant to buy another Monoprice planar.
I had the same experience with the M560s, and for me, the M1060Cs were totally worth it. They're much more balanced and lack the harshness in the highs, but they do have a peak apparently around the 1k-2k range. I noticed the peak, but it didn't bother me for more than the first 20 minutes, and I genuinely like the sound now, because it feels more "exciting" in that range than any of my other headphones. And according to other owners, the peak can be tamed if you mod them to be open back.
If that peak is a dealbreaker, I wouldn't buy them, but if you can live with it or mod it out, they're fantastic headphones for the price. Along with the HD6xx, they're my personal favorite headphones under $350.
@@tuuudes3449 I have a 6xx and a he4xx, i am a bit dissapointed with the hifiman now, as the bass quantity is almost the same as the 6xx and i like the 6xx better. Would you think it makes sense to exchange the he4xx to the 1060c? The monoprices are so criticised that it takes almost all of my willingness. Would be fun to have the 6xx for balanced sound, and another earphones for Bass.
@@criarcanal I don't really know what the HE4xx sounds like, so I can't really help you there. The M1060C has good, fast bass and it goes pretty low, but there are better headphones in the price range if you want a headphone that emphasizes bass.
I've had very mixed results buying bass-focused headphones. So the only thing I can recommend is to listen to a reviewer who you trust and who accurately describes the sound of the headphones you already own.
Do they slam like the dt 1770 ?
I appreciate this review, but it seems weird not to mention the ability to easily make them open backs. Many people mod them to become open with the consensus being it's a much better headphone when opened up.
As a fellow grandpa and wearing the 1060c's right now, I haven't had the chance to try them modded as open-backs yet. That's because I've found something I don't like about them. The nut/bolt assembly holding the earcups onto the frame have a tendency to come undone when the earcups swivel over much, like when I go from their holder to my head. I've already lost one set of nuts/bolts and that leads to my next complaint. Monoprice does not have any parts to replace. They can only replace the entire headphones, which they will cheerfully do for the entire five year warrantee, but if you're like me and don't have access to a printer ( I also don't drive, so that and Covid has made things very complicated ) it's a pita!
The sound is the only reason why this crap is tolerable. I love the neutral sound, which resembles what I hear from my ADS 910 loudspeakers.

Almost always black. Sometimes I will throw milk if I am really tired and don't want to wait for it to cool.

Could U write down in the video comment Ur suggestions 'bout songs/music U mention in the video?... I think that this could be useful as reference to test own headphones and compare 'em to those U review in the video, and it could also be a way to find new music/songs.

Probably Sundara. I haven't really seen any complaints at all about it's sound, but make sure wherever you get it has a solid warranty as the build is really hit or miss with it. The M1060C on the other hand has a solid group of people that don't like it's sound, but the build isn't as shoddy.
This review is so confusing. I came here because he has it as his silver medal for closed back headphones under more recent videos, but he directly says at 5:35 the imaging and soundstage are good but not class leading at their price point... this review also sort of makes it clear it's very mixed. Not sure what to believe here :/

@@MosoKaiser I think too and the driver is not "so" capable and the bass dial and the harsh true that the cable itself sucks so much that even that part im so dissapointed i sell this thing like 100€ its so shitty :/
