Another job whilst the car is at the body shop. This time it's the heater matrix / unit. As you will see from the video...it's a real mess. I've no idea how these things get so bad but I can't have this in the car like it is. So it's time to give it a total refurb and fingers crossed, at the end I'll have a fully functioning unit, because apparently you can't buy these new anymore :-(
Thanks for watching and a special thank you to my Patrons David Shrive, Charles France, Mad Hamish, Chris Gilboy, Barbara Joseph, Ryan Davies and all of my other Patrons.

Always a pleasure 😊 I think if these were readily available new I’d probably just have parted with the cash…but all I could find was reconditioned (£700 😮) so repair it was. Knowing my luck…I’ll finish it and then find out they can be bought new for £50 or something 😂

Really good vid mate. Good job you've done on getting motor running too. This will be a good ref for me.

Everything relied on the motor working really. If I didnt get that working, Id probably be stuck. There used to be a shop local to me that fixed motors but shops like that slowly disappeared. I was a bit disappointed that the control panel was ruined from the blasting but ive found a supplier of new ones...although they aren't original shape...but they should be ok.

I've just watched your heater matrix vlog, very good. Did you do a part 2 or not on this refurb? Cheers

The plan was to film the rebuild of the unit but when the car was at the garage we were stuck for time and had to throw it together as fast as we could so I didn’t really have enough footage to use. It was literally just a case of putting everything back but it was quite tricky. Getting the flaps to operate correctly was probably the trickiest part, and knowing where to put the sponge…as mine had all perished. In the end it was trial and error and putting sponge in the places it needed to stop everything rattling. I also bought some new screws as the old ones were rubbish…but I did have to cut them down carefully…they were too long and prevented the flaps from operating. But although it was fiddly, it wasn’t a hard job.
