    Great video. I also had to source one from the UK as they are almost unobtainable elsewhere. Mine was for a Rover P4, but common to many 50s cars - Austin, Jag, Daimler, etc. Like you, I'm restoring it. It looked restored on ebay, but when opened up, lots of rust inside, but nothing that can't be fixed. The squirrel cage is all metal, so an older design than for a Mini. Thanks for posting.

    Very good job, just done mine for my mk3, very satisfying when you can feel heat coming from it! Peter

    Great work. Had to do mine a few years ago when it began it leak. A lot of the "rust" that falls out is decayed foam. The motor on mine nearly drowns out the car engine so I fitted a computer fan into the intake on the driver's side; perfect. I had the same shiny sticker label issues and broke up the edges with a mat black thick poster paint to match the crinkle. It turned out to just be the hose clamp. Dave

    Great video. I’m fitting a recon heater to my Morris minor 1098.

    Great job, well done. Just a bit of friendly advice on future projects where you might not be able to remove all the surface rust, especially on the inside of the heater. You may want to look at paint products like POR-15 that will stop moisture from getting into the rust and allow it to continue to grow and rust underneath the paint. It is single pack and moisture activated. I don't work for any paint company or am trying to sell anything. I am a painter and mini enthusiast that like to share what knowledge I have. Love the videos and the Mini. Well done.

    Spray painting rusted sheet metal is a short term cosmetic repair. The parts should be sand-blasted to remove all of the rust. An alternative method is to use a rust converter after de-rusting with a wire wheel.

      Kar Guy I found it easier to use the wire wheel on a drill to remove the rust. Not all of the footage was included because most viewers don't want to watch the same thing for 30 minutes!

    Great job. I was wondering if your car had the heater mounts on the firewal? My car which is from Adalaide did not and i had to make them. thanks

      Yes it did. Cooper S and Mini Deluxe had the brackets spot welded from the factory.

    quick question? I have the same style heater in my morris minor. what was the material you used behind the heater panel, and the strip of sticky tape like stuff, which when new the heater would have had foam, but that degrades over time giving poor output to the screen, thanks from the uk

    • @CafeRacerLab
      @CafeRacerLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, the tape like material is foam with a sticky backing on it. You may be able to find it in hardware stores, the product is used in building and construction, it is used to seal gaps in windows and doors of buildings.

      @@CafeRacerLab thank you for your prompt response! What was that stuff you put behind the heater control panel? White square material

    • @CafeRacerLab
      @CafeRacerLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lucythemoggy1970 The white material is just foam, but really thin about 5mm thick.

    Hi, can I ask were you got the repair kit for the electric motor please. What was included and a link to a website much appreciated. A fantastic job on the heater unit bye the way. I’m planning on doing the same.

      Team Stockdale Classic Mini Diy Stockdale I didn't get a repair kit, the switch was purchased from an electronics parts supplier (Jaycar Electronics in Aus). The motor still worked and didn't need replacing and is still working now.
