If anyone here is wondering "Why Do I have so low fps and my PC ain't that bad" it's because is still in early access and it's really badly optimized. You could switch from Ultra to Low and see barely any changes in FPS, hopefully this will be fixed within next few updates.
When you switch from ultra to low and see no increase in fps then its likely the resolution that's too high. I'm playing with an RX 580 8gb and I5 9400 with everything on high except for shadows on 1080p and get 50-60 stable fps.

the difference between low and high cloud settings is whether or not they cast shadows. i'd recommend leaving it on high if your gpu can afford it. the low setting makes the lighting look pretty flat, especially when it's raining
played around with the settings a bit, i'd recommend putting view distance to high or even ultra possibly. the pop in is quite noticeable on bushes and such when walking through the forest otherwise. ambient occlusion does have a nice look on plants at medium, i'd consider it but off is fine. anisotropic textures does add more detail to things like the ground in the distance, but not by much. shadow quality is fine at low or lowest in my opinion. clouds actually do add some nice shadows to the game so i'd consider turning them on / putting them to high and checking for yourself. grass either low or high, the grass does look nice at high but i haven't had enough time to tell if it obstructs visibility too much. potentially set to low. everything else low / off so far seems fine.

My problem is I don't see any difference in fps from High - Low settings. The dips in fps is constant and I have well above the recommended requirements.

I'm getting 40-60fps regardless of settings on my 2060 (laptop) like the game set itself to high and there was literally no performance increase when I put everything to low

I9 10900k oc 5.1ghz across app 10 cores 64gb ddr4 3600mhz aorus rtx 3080 exteme game was running Hella bad it's now running great thanks alot man first time playing this game prolly should have started with the first one but absolutely enjoy this gem hope they expand the story line and or make it truly open world kinda like dayz
playing on a laptop(has 3050ti and 11th gen i7 so its not horrible by any means), and its not optimized too good on this game so hopefully this helps me out!
@@ivansalas1070 right now i’m sitting around 40/50 somtimes 30, im playing with the settings in this video but i made the texture resolution half even though i have 16gb ram. our laptops can surely run this game much higher and at better graphics but i think we’re just gonna have to wait a bit, developers usually forget about laptops when they first drop games lol. besides the fps issues i think the game is so far really sweet, just hoping they help us out a bit

honestly I knew going in it wouldnt be perfect but its crap ton better then expected, we had 8 people in a call at launch took about 30 mins after launch for steam servers to let all of us get out copy and then it worked seemlessly the MP, the only glitch weve found that is kinda game breaking is sometimes the host has a different season then the rest of the players, so we walk on ice while he swims under it XD but honestly im impressed if I had paid 50 dollars id still be happy
with a 3060ti and 13400f getting 100FPS solid at 1080p with DLSS maxed out settings besides clouds turned to low and fog turned off as i noticed a 10fps gain with that

I think you got the FSR 1.0 Dynamic Resolution Target wrong, you set the target fps that you want the game to run. For example if you get 50fps you can set FSR and Target 60fps and the game will try to maintain 60fps but dont set it too high.
This game mainly utilizes the gpu more than the cpu so for most people it is unplayable because of that fact, I have a decent pc and it runs at 60-70fps my specs are Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1650 super, 16gb ram 2666mhz and 2tb hdd and 1tb ssd
Got a 4090 and I also have 75-80 on the very lowest and also ultra settings 4K or 1080p, literally no setting in the game changes my framerate in any direction. My theory is that it's extremely CPU bound at the moment. I only got a 10700K so maybe a 13900K or 7950X might yield a better framerate.

3070 Ti and an i7 13700kf and luckily it runs perfectly fine.. only problem is it runs so STUPID FUCKING HOT even on MEDIUM settings. Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk with ray tracing don't even get it heated up this much, I'm concerned

@@byundai bruh, the point of his comment is the temperature, with a 3070 ti at 100% he should be getting way more than 60 fps so capping It at 60 will solve his problem since the load on the gpu will decrease and still be playable. Obviously its devs opitimization fault, but this is what can be done in the moment until they fix It. And dont have to be 60 fps, the objective is lower the gpu % so It will have less work resulting in better temps. If he got like 120+ fps at 100% gpu he can lock at 90fps or something and will work the same way and being more fluid than 60.

Have an i5 10500 w/ RTX 2060 6GB VRAM, 24 GB RAM (still haven't made it 32 i know) Settings: Generally medium to high, draw distance set to medium. Getting an average of 60-80 fps which is fine considering it's early access with a small team so, not being optimized is expected. Can't wait for it to get optimized tho!
Anyone having some weird anti Aliasing issues? SMAA and FXAA have a very jagged look to them, while TAA is the only one that looks somewhat decent, but gives a blur to movement

thats weird, with the same settings and dlss balanced im getting about 70fps with my 2070s in 3440x1440, about half the power of your 3080 but still keeping up
I think one of my biggest problem in Sons of the Forest is my CPU, the game itself runs on 30-50 fps, even though my pc isn't that bad. I tried to change the graphic settings and there is not a noticeable difference in fps between ultra and very low. While playing the game with friends, I had the problem that my pc suddenly restarted itself without any warning. It happens only once, my theory is that my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) was overheating. Is there a way to fix those problems?
I have the same processor and it is a very powerful processor. For this processor, you have to go into the Bios settings of your Motherboard and do Undervoltage. Bios / Advanced part. You should fix the CPU speed to 4.00 Ghz and make the voltage 1.15. If you don't know, you can learn the voltage drop setting for Ryzen 5 3600 from professional youtubers. In this way, you will gain a lower temperature and performance.

don't set clouds to low, game will look like shit when there's rain, it will look like its a sunny day but there's rain, with clouds set to hight it will look way better, like whole lighting will change, you can only see the difference at rain time

This is one of those games where setting don’t take effect until you restart. So that might be part of the issue

Lowering grass from high to a lower setting made the biggest difference in performance with the change being barely noticeable.

3070 Ti and an i7 13700kf and luckily it runs perfectly fine.. only problem is it runs so STUPID FUCKING HOT even on MEDIUM settings. Doom Eternal and Cyberpunk with ray tracing don't even get it heated up this much, I'm concerned

@@byundai bruh, the point of his comment is the temperature, with a 3070 ti at 100% he should be getting way more than 60 fps so capping It at 60 will solve his problem since the load on the gpu will decrease and still be playable. Obviously its devs opitimization fault, but this is what can be done in the moment until they fix It. And dont have to be 60 fps, the objective is lower the gpu % so It will have less work resulting in better temps. If he got like 120+ fps at 100% gpu he can lock at 90fps or something and will work the same way and being more fluid than 60.
@@Bowlt don't know if there was a stealth update or something but temperatures are much better today for whatever reason (70 degrees). (no changes to settings were made.)

Changing the graphics settings doesn't really help me because I have like 80% gpu load but 100% cpu load on high-ultra and 50% 100% on lowest.
i get around 50-60 fps with rtx 2080S and ryzen 5 3600 on ultra 2k dlss quality. drops sometimes under 60 bc of cpu bottleneck. i expected a bigger gap to rtx 3080ti xd. i also noticed it uses almost all 16 gb of my ram.

Settings: Generally medium to high, draw distance set to medium. Getting an average of 60-80 fps which is fine considering it's early access with a small team so, not being optimized is expected. Can't wait for it to get optimized tho!

Anyone having some weird anti Aliasing issues? SMAA and FXAA have a very jagged look to them, while TAA is the only one that looks somewhat decent, but gives a blur to movement
use DLSS it looks better than TAA

Disable V sync or capped fps at 60fps. Keep around 100 and it gets smooth for me. Hope it helps.

I am facing a problem where my game only goes up to 1920x1080 resolutions. Not sure why, but I have a monitor connected to my laptop and the resolution for that is 3840x2160. Would anyone know how I can get the game to play in that resolution?
Fullscreen works but its based off lower res, I want the the full hd experience haha
Are you using display port? Maybe it's an old hdmi cable thus not supporting higher resolutions. But that's only my guess, i domt actually kmow

i was playing this game well for a while and now i just updated it its taking like 5 minutes to load my server or start game. i have gtx 1070 8gb vram so why would geforce optimize to low/ultra low? its never had to be set low on any game in my life until like now. also they got FSR 3.0 im guessing its better and newer?

I think one of my biggest problem in Sons of the Forest is my CPU, the game itself runs on 30-50 fps, even though my pc isn't that bad. I tried to change the graphic settings and there is not a noticeable difference in fps between ultra and very low. While playing the game with friends, I had the problem that my pc suddenly restarted itself without any warning. It happens only once, my theory is that my CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 3600) was overheating. Is there a way to fix those problems?
I have the same processor and it is a very powerful processor. For this processor, you have to go into the Bios settings of your Motherboard and do Undervoltage. Bios / Advanced part. You should fix the CPU speed to 4.00 Ghz and make the voltage 1.15. If you don't know, you can learn the voltage drop setting for Ryzen 5 3600 from professional youtubers.
In this way, you will gain a lower temperature and performance.

don't set clouds to low, game will look like shit when there's rain, it will look like its a sunny day but there's rain, with clouds set to hight it will look way better, like whole lighting will change, you can only see the difference at rain time

I don’t know why but my game looks so pixely, I got a rtx 3070 and i5 10400 and I get 60-70 fps on all ultra settings 1080p, dlss barely gives me fps and looks kind of bad, without dlss it looks extremely pixely, idk if I have to change something in nvidia control panel or sumn. I see how other peoples games look so sharp an everything in the distance looks great. Even the day counter on the gps looks almost unreadable. If anyone knows a solution lmk.

At least they released it as early access and not full released. They'll get some optimization going soon. I mean, they could have delayed it again, for the 5th time? But people probably would have gotten really pissed.

@@speedborg3173 I think the cpu might be the problem. I gained like 40 fps in most games when I switched from r5 2600 to ryzen 7 3600x. The game is also more cpu intensive
Right can anyone help me, i have a geforce 1050 ti and no matter if i have low settings or high settings my fps almost always stays around 20-30 fps. Im not very knowledgeable when it comes to settings for games. Also my cpu is a amd ryzen 5 6 core processor. I know the game is in early access and many ppl say its perfomance isnt good but even like loading into a save it takes almost 3 to 4 minutes and the same goes for closing out
