I love the movie because of it I think. It really helps add to the dark Scandi vibe the setting and story require. This and The Game are too often forgotten when mentioning his movies.
I've listened to this probably 12 times today. I really cannot recall a piece of music I have connected with more than these 7 minutes, especially the banshee like groaning bring out a dormant longing for change and adventure in my mind while at the same time freighting me from realizing those aspirations. Reznor is truly a master of music in such a revolutionary way that I believe he already is one of the movers and shakers in the music industry today, and will be a big part of music to come.
Don't forget about "The girl who played with fire" and "The girl who kicked the hornets nest", aside from "The girl with the dragon tattoo", the other books are quite amazing as well.
Trent Reznor has gone to the very darkest, bleakest, most unsettling and disturbing places of the the subconscious - best left undiscovered. His work reflects that. Now that he's in a better state psychologically, and he's turned out okay - everything he does professionally is triumphant. I can't wait for the film, but I can't wait more for the Reznor's score.
Holy shit!!! Thank you so much! I've been waiting for some type of preview of Reznor/Ross' score. A year later I still listen to their score for Social Network every single day and it hasn't gotten the least bit old.
There were many things running inside out when I first heard this track when it leaked last year, incredible faith and hope for perhaps a film soundtrack to be a timeless classic, this is really it man these people came through even better.
there is something more peaceful and elegant about this piece that outweighs the dark austere atmosphere it creates, I like it, It makes me think of walking in the woods on a cold night passing by some victims of a homicide yet at this point in time I cant get over how beautiful the night is
GOD! I can't wait to see this movie and hear the whole soundtrack! The Social Network kicked ass! Wow, two of my favorite things combined... movies and Trent Reznor's music! MORE! MORE!
Ready for the second score by Reznor => and the second Oscar ? ;) Awesome music. I have to work hard because I'm going to be a doctor. These recent quiet songs by Reznor helped and help me A LOT !
It's like peering into a memory a deep memory intertwining with good and bad feelings and emotions only to be remembered by the darker side that was fed. Interesting...
Wow!!! Great teaser track...really atmospheric and eerie...Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have definately done it again (hopefully another Academy Award will cement their tremendous talent once and for all?!)
Anyone who knows the ambient records Robert Fripp made with Brian Eno will delight that their influence can be heard in sound track scores like this. I love that Fripp-esque e bow feedback sound Trent and Ross use.
I never paid attention to Stieg Larsson books, I thought that was commercial stuff. I watched this movie by chance, without even understanding it was from the first of the Millennium Trilogy. I had it on Prime and decided to see it especially after seeing it was a David Fincher movie. Far from being a disappointment, I loved the movie (I've just finished watching it for the second time). Daniel Craig is excellent, Lisbeth's just amazing (how can't you have a crush on her??). Ah, awesome music.
This was the first track of the soundtrack that was released when the official website opened up. When I first heard it, I knew this film would be perfect. And it was.
I can't wait to see what scene this 7minute masterpiece fits into. Reznor used to heavily layer his music before (Purest Feeling, PHM, TDS, "The Perfect Drug" single), and it's nice to hear his stuff stripped of so much gloss (although I LOVED the "gloss")! It's his recent simplicity wherein we find more transparency, and thus he captures the precise feeling per chord for each bit of action happening in front of the camera. I really hope that Trent & Atticus score a Jeremy Podeswa film!
I was exhausted when I saw this song was online last night, but I couldn't wait to hear it so I played it anyways. I thought it was awesome but I nodded off for 5 minutes. I woke up in a shock and I had cold sweats.
Any of you guys heard the How to Destroy Angels? They are an experimental electronica collective from Los Angeles composed of Mariqueen Maandig, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Rob Sheridan. You can stream their new EP “An Omen” for free on SoundCloud. Check it out!
I love that long undulating wave sound that starts at 2:12 The sort of tone that just carries your mind away What NIN song does he use that particular effect in? I'm thinking of a specific one but the title is eluding me and I'm craving a listen.
Jeśli muzyka potrafi wpłynąć na osobowość i dotknąć najintymniejszej części umysłu, to właśnie ta wywarła taki wpływ na mnie. Nieustannie ze mną, od samego początku.
@rockomundo Totally agree. I'm looking forward to it, as a BIG fan of the book, and of the foreign movies. David Fincher, one of my favorite directors. Trent Reznor, one of my favorite musicians. This is too perfect!
@mrbrockpeters You speak truth, good sir. NIN and Floyd happen to be two of my most beloved artists. The way they can use music to scoop you up and carry you away from reality is something to be truly admired.
Have you read - ignoring preconceived biases - the arguments for global warming? If you did you'd know that the biggest contributor to global warming isn't just the fact that we use cars, but also our consumption of cow products. Each cow produces about as much methane as the average car does, which multiplied by the number of cows currently being farmed (far more than any other time in history) means that too much cow faming, as a result of overpopulation, is just as responsible as cars use.
@MimeOfBennetosh - It may appear simple on the surface, but when you listen closely and attentively you can hear the subtle complexity of the work; with discrete layers of different sounds. Only the work of masters who've perfected their craft.
The music without the movie is absolutely amazing. I mean , i don't even care for movie if i'll get a soundtrack like this. (Of course i love to see the movie , but just for comparison). :)
There's a particular special woman from my past who I truly think about when I here this tune, in a dark yet positive and protective way. I'm going to take a risk and send it to her now. 21 is my favorite number by the way... Born on 3/21 ♈ 🔥, along with her birthday eqauling 21 (11-10) ♏, the day before my Mother's. Nuff Said.
oh.my.god. this is amazing. kinda reminds me of ghost in the shell hmmm :))) congrats on reznor becoming the next big movie music composer of the century!! :D:D:D:D XXXX
@RatedR2O - Not just that, but Steven Zaillian (whose adapted screenplays such as "Schindler's List" and "Awakenings", and written films such as "Mission Impossible", "Gangs of New York" and "American Gangster") wrote the adapted screenplay for Fincher's adaptation.
@mrbrockpeters I think they used that machine for that sound rather than a guitar, i can't remember what it's calleds buts it an unusual intrument. There is a video about it on youtube somewhere.
Fincher has expressed interest, in fact he said he's just been figuring out how to adapt the next book. And if Fincher is in, guess who's gonna make the music.
Nine Inch Nails is apparently not dead, I just realized. It lives on in these Reznor+Ross soundtracks, which are as much NIN albums as Ghosts was, and even better. Which is good because I've listened to every NIN song ever at least 5+ times... XD
People seem the think movie soundtracks are like songs that they should listen to whenever they want. The Social Network soundtrack was very simple compared to Inceptions, but it fit the film much more than the epic orchestra music in Inception (which can pretty much be put into any other blockbuster and still work)
I just walked down the roads of Stockholm, at night, with this pumping in my headphones. It was the most beautiful experience in my whole life.
you are weird
Man I'm in love with the soundtrack. Horribly underrated
I love the movie because of it I think. It really helps add to the dark Scandi vibe the setting and story require. This and The Game are too often forgotten when mentioning his movies.
God...this song brings me to the cold and calm place, that I can call home...
I really can't explain this, it's mystical...
check out like home from gone girl. that song truly haunts me
Trent Reznor is an awesome soundtrack writer! Beyond brilliance!
this film was creepy, dark, suspenseful and fucking cool all at the same
Madness is a true genius. Herman hesse
this movie was truly trash ... however the score producers generated some sick tracks

This just has a dark creepy tone to it, people say its nothing extraordinary but the darkness in the subtle notes is...amazing.
This is how a pain from an old wound probably sounds like.
Indeed good sir
i have this repeating while i study 10/10 helps me concentrate and study longer
Same same same I can't revise without it
I have this repeating whenever I have sex with my wife. I'm messed up a little bit in the head so the music helps with imagining fucked up fetishes.
+Unknown i hear you on that one good for that to haha
Same reason I'm here.
Doing the same since 2012 for study and work
Don't forget about "The girl who played with fire" and "The girl who kicked the hornets nest", aside from "The girl with the dragon tattoo", the other books are quite amazing as well.
Shame they didn't go on to make the other 2. Am a fan of the Daniel Craig version
I watched them both after I heard about the original version. Really good ones
@@haydarhannachi9374 The Swedish versions with sub titles are amazing. 3 films Brilliant

Love this beautiful music....the Glockenspiel/Tubular Bells. The haunting melody throughout is achingly gorgeous!!
This is really scary score man I'm getting shivers from this, I can't wait to see it!
Very dark, brooding and atmospheric. Well thought out - it kind of tells a story. Brilliant work!

This music is making me consider watching the movie.

Seeing the trailer made me finally start the book, and I'm so happy I did..can't wait for the movie, everything's screaming EPIC!
the music alone takes the movie to a whole different level of excitement..
