It's only just now that I've realised that's not Andy's house lol! You can see the creases in the sheet that's behind him! Oh man... had me fooled for so long :P Your videos are absolutely incredible Andy, I've used them to buy my FX Dreamline .177 and my Oh so beloved Glock 17 Gen 4 (Umarex). Thanks for all you've done for the sport and industry!

The obsession with "Star" in the naming is a nod to the old BSA motorcycles which often had star in their name, such as Goldstar, and Empire Star, and even Star fire.

Yes more and more air gun manufacturer are selling pellets with their name on the tin, but they don't have the factory to make them. Obviously these are re-branded H&N pellets: weights / packages are the same but for the stickers. That's quite fun to see a Gamo owned company, BSA, reselling pellets from H&N. This says a lot about what Gamo thinks of its own pellets.

    • @brorjordas1979

...I really regret selling my Crosman Air-17 177 rifle I got new as a 12 or 13 year old lad back in the mid 80's. It was pretty accurate for a low powered beginner gun & great fun with it's 4x mag pellet clip. Just going to throw it out there. Yes they are clearly H&N in the same way FX and Daystate are the same as JSB and Air Arms. However, my R10th in a 177 hated all the pellets, spat them all over the card. With the exception of the Silverstar, they were 5p 10 shot groupings at 30 yards all day long. Andy is absolutely right the wand chooses the wizard. Buy a sample pack and see what happens.

I also am aware and was as soon as I saw this video , that these are all H&N reebranded pellets, but they are cheaper, I've only tried the Green stars, and my .22 R10 SE was at first terrible with them, un till I realized it wasn't the gun or the pellets ! it was me at 25 meters I was easily able to get 5 pence groups of ten shots. I didn't find they were any faster than a 14 grain lead pellet and they only achieved around 10.3 ft/lb , I already know that the H&N Terminators are extremely accurate in my R10 , so therefore the Silverstars will also be. I haven't been overly impressed by other H&N pellets and therefore will not try the Goldstar as I already know that JSB Exact Jumbos will work better. All barrels are different and some will like them and some won't but at the end of the day, if your gun likes H&N buy BSA as they are cheaper but exactly the same :).

Tried BSA pellets twice, last lot about 10 years ago ''Storm'' i think they were called. Total rubbish!! my 2 super 10s hated them, only use AA field, all my BSAs love them & even my Steyr Hunter 5 is laser accurate using them. Now pellets are not 50p for 500 like they were when i was a kid, i'm not wasting £12 a tin!

I'd be interested to know how closely these and other pellets match (or fail to match) the weight claimed on the tin, and how consistent is the weight of pellets within a tin and between batches. I used to always weigh a number from any tin I bought so I had an idea of what I was shooting simply because I often found there could be a noticeable difference between one purchase and the next.
Sure, these are clearly H&N pellets and can probably be relied upon to have good quality control, but I've sometimes seen a considerable difference even in "name" brands.

Hi Andy, another brilliant review, thank you.
Just before Christmas I had a few tins of pellets in the garage that had been opened a few months, thus they looked a little dusty. I had a look round and found some FX365 rust inhibitor. I sprayed a very light coating on the top layer of pellets.
Well I was out shooting some paper yesterday to keep my eye in and my regular pellets that I know shoot pellet on pellet are all over the place. Have I made a big mistake, could you do a video on pellet lub, pros, cons and how it affect performance please?

Others may find BSA pellets viable, but my personal experience agrees with Andy's statement regarding pellet choice and how they may or may not suit your gun...
... To be honest, my personal experience with BSA brand pellets isn't that good; The BSA storm pellets I bought for my .177 seem fairly accurate, but not what I would deem pest control quality, whereas the BSA elite's I bought for my .22 were... odd.
I've got my .22 pcp hybrid zeroed well enough at 25 yards to get a very nice grouping with every other pellet brand I have used, yet the "elites" shot a minimum of a foot to the left and the grouping was... inconsistent. They were barely good enough for shooting random junk in the garden, (tin cans and whatever else I can find) but I would NEVER consider using them for pest control!

I'm an occasional air rifle shooter purely for vermin control. I have & still do use lead pellets, But I shouldn't & nor should anyone else. I'm in no way a scientific person but I have seen at first hand the effect of lead on a handful of people who unknowingly have been exposed to lead in their water & it's not good. The same applies to wildlife, especially in the water fowling world where lead is still the preferred choice. It's got to change, the lead needs to go. Give the birds a chance not to have their brains addled by lead poisoning then maybe you'll get a better days shooting, or is that murdering! I am and always will be against hunting for the sake of hunting. Live & let Live & we'll all be happy. 👍

Fancy shooting two of my old vintage airguns for accuracy and a laugh?? I have a ASI sniper in 22 and a Diana G80 in 177. The Diana I'm Certain is unmolested, however the ASI had new seals and a Titan spring fitted.
It would make an interesting video and show the difference between expectations of old airguns vrs new airguns, also it could possibly show why tinkering is either right or wrong (the original ASI spring is available for refitting, if needed).
It would be nice to see these two used in the hands of someone like you. 👍🏻👍🏻

BSA and the STAR moniker have been a pairing just like bread and butter o bacon and eggs ever since the BSA company started toying with entry into the Motorized bicycle arena. in fact the pairing had blistering success from 1920s until 1971 and their fatal new broom incident. I am glad to see the old company (name only) version of Fred astair re teaming with the STAR version of Ginger Rogers. WARNING ! Understanding comparisons may reflect a certain age or dietry position. other celebrity or food couplings are available.

I suspect my new HW100 in 177 is not delivering the power I need from sub 12 ft , what s the best & easiest way to check if its a faulty model. Also, in the box came a small box containing two large brass threaded heads with various small o'rings attached ! What are the used for?

I remember the days when all you could get was Marksman pellets and if you had the money Eley Wasps.
Now there's loads of different pellets marketed by countless companies but only made in two main factories namely H@N and JSB. Why cant companies innovate and produce there own stuff. The only original stuff at the moment are the new slugs which development has bee driven by the US market and high power.

These pellets have definitely been produced in conjunction with H&N a quality pellet producer and are worth a try, but as always stated they may not suit all guns and barrels, much the same as daystate/JSB’s dont suit all guns, even some Daystate. Thanks for watching, stay safe. Andy.

Pellet smple packs are a good thing. I still have not found my preferred pellet of choice for my Sig Virtus .22 PCP.. Approx 3" groups at a distance of 30 meters. Tested RWS Hobbys, 3 different Gamos 2 different H&Ns....all about the same.
Surprisingly the H&Ns (Baracuda Green and Sniper Light) being the worst performing. RWS Hobby pellets been best (and cheapest) so far..
