    Good morning everyone!
Thank you Andy, for a great review.
I've read the comments so far and I detect some ill feeling towards BSA in respect of their pellet magazines.
I have the R12 CLX Pro. I haven't had any magazine issues. I absolutely adore everything about my air rifle. The thumbhole walnut stock, cocking lever, the looks, accuracy. The workmanship, craftsmanship, thought. To me its fantastic and l look forward to every time I use it.
I think the carbon bottle looks great too. However, I dont think I'll be getting one.
Yes, they look fantastic, though my original steel bottle works just fine and for me personally has enough shots per fill.
Yes, I'd say the carbon bottle looks better, though I've read that they have a life span and at £200 a chuck, I think I'll stay with what I have. My kit all works absolutely impeccably, though in my humble opinion, can get a little silly.
If anyone is considering one of these air rifles, I'd say get one yesterday. I adore mine, absolutely love it to pieces. To me, its just beautiful, beautiful kit and when Im looking the right way, fiercely accurate and at a very competitive price for the working man.
    Best wishes, everyone.
    Ps.
I sympathise with BSA and other manufacturer's as some people seem to think kit like this should be given to them.
It takes much time and effort, thought, etc, to produce kit like this, which obviously costs. Just look at the mechanics of what happens.
We go out, we work hard and sacrifice for our pleasures and things we like to do. We then part with our hard earned and receive fantastic kit like this. This is how we appreciate what we have and worked hard for.

In the interest of balance I'll add my experience, I have shot and owned a lot of BSA's over the years, I have had two Scorpions, an Ultra, a MK2 R10 and both the Ultra CLX and R12 CLX, in fairness I have had 0 issues with the magazines on all of those guns except the R12 which was a very tight fit and quite finnicky as to how the magazine was loaded, my R12 also had a slow leak out of the reg (as did my R10), I still have a scorpion and the R10 (now with Huma reg), and they are great guns, my advice to anyone considering a BSA gun that is regulated out of the factory would be to leave the gun as is until your warranty has expired if something goes wrong you can go back to BSA, once it is out of warranty swap out the factory reg and have your rifle re-sealed when that happens so you get fresh O rings throughout, the unregulated rifles like the Scorpion are built like tanks in my experience and plenty accurate a little light on air capacity for a range session but plenty for some pest control.
Essentially if the rifle you want is an unregulated model using the older style 10 shot magazine I'd have no hesitation recommending it, if its the new 12 shot CLX range just check in the store and make sure both mags seat nicely, for me my ultra clx mags were smooth the R12' magazines were unfortunately not great seems to be something that varies from gun to gun, now for anything regulated with the BSA reg it does seem that eventually the factory reg will give up the game over time, thankfully there are better aftermarket options out there, I would still recommend them as guns just be aware of the potential pitfalls.

Purchased one today , super carbine black pepper from Vector air. I absolutely love it, what a fantastic rifle, I was using BSA BlackStar pellets and it is super accurate. Done about 200 pellets through it this evening and no issues so far. I also own a HW100 carbine laminate that I also purchased from Vector air, I thought nothing would equal the HW for accuracy but the BSA matches it in all departments. My first Modern BSA and I love it ❤.

I'm the one that had issues with my R12, I was told it would take 3 weeks but it came back in just 2 weeks. I had lost confidence in the BSA, it did not feel right so I kept going to the Gamo GX40. So I locked the GX40 away and just used the BSA, I bought BSA silver stars, 5 tins, I have put 3 of them through the barrel of the R12, it has not missed a beat. It did have an issue with one of the magazines, BSA just sent a new one back with my gun. There are only 2 thing I want from BSA, an R12 single shot tray, and a Blue, grey and white laminate stock. Happy BSA owner 😀👍👍👍

Shame they're discontinuing the bolt action, that was near the top of my wants list and a lovely bit of kit. There's something about a bolt action that makes me take my time over every shot, it's too easy to just bang through a mag in ten seconds with a side-lever. Fabulous walnut stock too.

Nice gun. Great review as always. My experience of BSA is not so positive. I would consider purchasing this gun were it not for the poor post purchase support, which BSA are woeful at providing. I think I would wait a few months and wait for any modifications to be undertaken, particularly from experience with my CLX, where small modifications post release appear to have addressed some of the issues which caused me some angst.
As always a very entertaining review and it is nice to see that you are now struggling to keep up with your performances shooting a PCP over your natural ability with a springer.

I had multiple issues with my brand new R12 . So much so that I exchanged it for an Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter R Laminate, which in my humble opinion is superior in every way. I would be tempted back to BSA if I had confidence that all issues were sorted . Due to the fact that magazine issues are still being worked on does not give me confidence that the issues are sorted .Also, the customer service from BSA pitiful.

    • @stefanmorawiec4565

@@cedhome7945mine went back to BSA twice. It started to play up after less than 1 magazine full of pellets and the only response I had both times was one word “pellets”. It spent in total over 10 weeks with BSA. Compare that with a Weibrauch 97k which I had an issue with, which was repaired under warranty in a week, door to door.
I do think BSA design good guns, but reliability and after sales is questionable. I have to say that some two years since my BSA was last repaired and after fitting a HUMA regulator to it, it is a changed gun.
I checked back on all of the reviews and interesting whether it be online or in print, every review on my rifle was based upon the .22 version, whilst every problem I have seen reported has been on the .177 like mine.
I am really interested in purchasing this rifle after seeing the review but I think I will wait 6 months and see what problems are reported first and what BSA do to correct it.

Morning Andy, really interested in this review, having bought a R12 clx pro in Fac with the black pepper stock in September this year I can say it’s absolutely amazing to shoot, handle and look at.
I’m doing pest control with it as I believe a rifle should be used for its intended purpose.
I’m putting JSB exact jumbo Diablo 15.89 pellets through it and haven’t experience and not had any magazine problems at all. I’m getting a 20 mm group at 70 m off quad sticks which is well with in kill zone of what I’m after.Faultless rifle from my experience. Bought the R12 off the back of your reviews and haven’t been disappointed.👍

Pellets can fall backwards when the barrel is elevated. The pellet can then either rattle about where it shouldn't be or jam the trigger requiring the stock to be removed. I have heard of people loading pellets in the magazine with a small stick to ensure they are correctly seated. The BSA instructions say something about fully seating pellets but the inference is that it is the shooter's fault when it goes wrong.

I have had 2 R10se and both had accuracy issues and mag jams despite BSA saying they were the new improved model 🙄.
I thought they would have sorted out the issues on their new models, new mags and regulator apparently but no, It’s a great pity as the basic lay out of the rifles is all I would ever want, but if it doesn’t shoot straight or isn’t reliable 🤔 good looking means nothing

Using both AA Diablos and H&N FTT (which I understand are the same pellet as the BSA goldstars) I still get magazine jams usually around pellet 7. Is there still a known issue with these magazines and are you aware of a fix?

Sorry to hear that bud I bought one then had accuracy issues 😔 so just figured it was a one off glitch. So bought another one for for hunting thinking I could use the new one while the other was being repaired. But sadly the new one had accuracy issues just like the first one, 😔 would group 👍 then for no apparent reason send pellets all over the place. The magazines would jam on both rifles, especially when shooting up at a angle ( I shoot a lot of Crows). In short, BSA looks good but consistently fail in function, even the new improved ones The R10se, and now the CLX .🙄 It seems BSA management launches new improved rifles with the same old faults 😔 which is a tragedy as they are just what I was looking for, but if a gun can’t shoot straight 😳what’s it worth?

Hi Andy, I’m a new air rifle enthusiast, I would love to buy the Bsa you reviewed, it looks stunning and looks like it shoots so well.
I recently joined my local air rifle club and over heard a couple of members talking about a lead pellet ban coming into force in the uk.
Do you have any inside information on this ?
    Cheers
    Dave

Hi Dave, The UK government is no longer considering a ban on lead pellets for air guns & rifles after the recent consultation. Regards, Paul

Great video! I really like the SLX, but choosing what version is not going to be easy 😂
Is it just me or is your voice moving from the left to right channel? It feels a bit like shooting @ a windy day ;-)
When you want to center it, make your voice channel mono in the edit.
    Keep up the great video’s!

Considering the throw of the side lever, biathlon style it isn't. Pretty rifle, as was my original R10. It went back to the factory 5 times in a short space of time and wasn't just the regulator issue. Just hope these are much better made. I've not bought a new BSA since then.

Are the CLX regulators working properly now.? I had R10se with the new improved reg😉 from BSA , so good BSA owners had to stump up 💵💵for after market regs as the BSA ones often failed

I have an R12 CLX Pro. Does anyone know how best to fit a Harris style bipod. I’ve had it fixed to steel buddy bottle but some say the forces will damage the threaded connection and cause air leaks. I tried fixing bipod to front stud but force of folding out the bipod legs pulled out the stud and a puff of sawdust. Now I have no confidence in either method of fixing and have doubts that the BSA factory fitted stud is capable, but of hole is enlarged how can I strengthen fitting without epoxy or drilling another hole in that lovely Minnelli walnut stock?

Out interest unless I’ve been really blind and missed it after watching through twice by adding a carbon bottle what are the weight reductions on both sizes bottles and also you said £199 is this the same price for either sized bottles 300cc and 500cc?

I have had 2 BSA R10se and they both had accuracy issues with good groups then shooting all over the place then group for a while then all over the place. The magazine on the R10se would jam up if you had to cock the gun while was at a angle, eg , like shooting from a rest at squirrels, very frustrating when you need a quick second shot. When they realised the new R12 with the new mag and regulator I thought I hope they have fixed the issues with reg, and mag. But no, lots of unhappy customers who spent a lot of money only to disappointed

This rifle should have an adjustable cheek piece like the CLX Pro. And if the adjustable cheek piece matched the rest of the stock (as AA have done with their ultimate sporter) then it would be worth considering. Should a would a could a.

Here’s hoping BSA see the light and a bottle is made for my rifle, as these will sell like hot cakes, and the thousands of R10 owners out there will be very happy with this upgrade 👍🤞👌

I Definitely would have bought one of your AAR special editions ... but.... I had just purchased a Daystate huntsman revere .177 and broke the bank 😢....of course I’m not disappointed in the Daystate it’s a fantastic rifle I genuinely can’t fault it at all..... but if I could turn back time I would have had an AAR special if I could have got one or a beautiful BSA ... I may even sell my Wembley mk2 service air rifle and my Sheridan silver streak and get one anyway
