    Retired dispatcher here. Kudos to her for keeping her cool. Especially when there was total radio chaos and officers stepping on each other and not responding to her requests for information - a description and whether anyone had eyes on the shooter. I am heartbroken for the officer who gave his life to protect others. He died a hero.

    Kudos to the dispatcher trying to figure out what’s happening as she is getting officers telling different things. First he’s Mexican then he’s white. Then he’s in hospital, then on a bus, then in a white car speeding away......truly shows how chaotic the scene can really become. Glad officers stuck with it and finally got their man. Rip officer Jimenez

    listened to this live, pretty terrifying. the dispatchers! dispatchers are angels with headsets on, i swear! and to think all this was due to a domestic.
    i should mention that CPD actually had trained for something like this not too long ago. it's sad that they had to apply it to real life

    Awesome job to the dispatcher and everyone who put their life on the line, however I will say, these, dispatchers are trained to repeat everything, in relation to that, I think it holds,up lots of airtime as she’s repeating everything, this happens in my city as well, and sometimes the officers or helicopter unit have to tell the dispatcher to stop repeating everything word by word as it doesn’t, give, the other parties chance to say something vital

      most of the time in large cities like this, your radio only communicates to your squad, or unit, and dispatch. It isn't on the citywide. The reason they repeat information is she is repeating it back out on the citywide.

    This hospital is a "gun free zone" like all others in Chicago. The security "officers" working there ran away and hid somewhere when the shooting started. Perhaps a dangerous emergency room should have properly trained and armed security. RIP to the officer killed in all this confusion and chaos.

    Those from Chicago is this an actual hospital or just a doctors office? I am wondering because with officers/citizens shot they are requesting paramedics but why are they not just requesting doctors to help out? I understand parts of this hospital is a crime scene but if it’s life and death then those people need to be worked on there.

      Some hospitals have policy that wont allow them to go outside and get people. They wont see them unless an ambulance or private vehicle brings them in front of the emergency room. Not sure if that applies here.

    • @abnjmk
      @abnjmk 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is an actual hospital in a "campus style setting. There's a large surface lot in front of the ER where it all started.
