This is superb. So relevant when employees are being 'invited' back to the office following lockdowns. A real, real test of trust.

I love this. I don't trust people who can't be vulnerable when needed or cant be past their ego. Its a big turn off. Like he said, how can I trust you when you can even be yourself.

It's amazing how someone can introduce this to a team, then can do the exact opposite in his organization and bring dysfunction -- all the while thinking that he is bringing functionality. Just because you have this book and read it, etc. doesn't mean you will know how to implement it.

How true! Wow, I have been seeing that myself recently upclose and personal.

At my company the CEO uses books like this as an excuse to avoid paying people more. Some people are really unhappy and causing problems but at bottom it's because they have been working there for years and haven't had a raise even though they work constantly. The CEO just points us to a book and sais "you aren't quite there yet, you need to read this". But it's really a deflection mechanism to change the topic away from offering a higher wage. As his expectations of us continually raise of course.

Trust is earned though and you don't walk into any work or team environment and expect trust right away

Trust is two way and you can make a new person feel trusted by being open and by helping them in an honest and caring way rather than a back biting political way.
