    Great recap! Love your synopsis of the show. Lots of funny comments. Very insightful look at the show. Thanks for coming to the show and showing everyone what it like to be at the show and what it has to offer!

    Great recap, and the best commentary on exhibits that I have seen so far in VCF recap videos! Nicely done. I appreciated your feedback on the consignment too, it's spot on.

    Thank you. One of the best (and most professional) presentations and videos of VCF I've seen.

    Lovely recap! Beautiful camera work and interesting story telling. I usually get motion sickness watching videos like this but the steady cam and panning is what I need lol

    • @userlandia
      @userlandia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Would you believe 99% of it was shot on a handheld iPhone without a steadicam/gimbal? I left my big camera in the car because there was just too many people and it would get in the way. The secret is to tuck your elbows to your sides and use your upper body/torso to do the move. It's all about slow, deliberate motions. I do have a grip (which helps) but even if you don't have one you can still record steady video!

    I did not know this existed, but I am so incredibly excited that it does! Time to dig through the bins of old gear for some (possible 😅) gems

    My first VCF, and I can't wait to go again! There was so much see and do, and too little time to cover it all!

    Thank you for the review. As a volunteer who helped work and organize consignment, I appreciate your fair assessment of everything good and bad about the consignment area. You hit on a lot of talking points that were discussed amongst the consignment volunteers before and after the event.
    I wish we had more space, and a separated food vending area, but there are constraints to the amount of space made available to us. More importantly, we did not expect the consignment turnout this year, both for vendors and customers. It seemed to have doubled this year. The POS system we implemented for the past two events helped greatly to manage both sides of the processed transactions. This year's use of nearly automated online forms was a result in response to last year's first use of the POS system, to improve upon the process. We still have improvements to the process in mind, but we're glad to hear that you appreciated the improvements we implemented this year.

    • @userlandia
      @userlandia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the insider perspective. I recognize the difficulties with estimating turnout and I'm happy that the team had similar thoughts. The year-over-year improvements give me a lot of confidence that feedback is welcome and that things will be even better next year.

    Seeing that Mac classroom reminds me of when I worked as a tech for a school district. In a warehouse they had hundreds of pallets stacked with 70's- 90's era Apples and Macs, printers, drives, monitors, of all kinds. They literally couldn't give the stuff away. No takers, including me! 😫They eventually PAID an e-waste firm to haul it all away!!!!

    That Prolinea 4/33 was a great find and and being weird as I am, the first thing I would have gravitated to. I have a thing for pre-HP Compaqs. I plan on going to VCF southwest next month, but hopefully not as cramped. I don’t do well with that many people. Worth the chance though.

    VCF East 2023 was a fun event to experience. I was the one who had purposely put an ugly parts ProLinea I bought from Computer Reset in Dallas next to the one you bought, hoping that the two would go two would leave together. It did eventually sell to someone else, though. 😅

    awesome video. I don't know why I wasn't notified when you uploaded it! I usually only go to vcfse but was planning on going to this one at some point but there are just so many people at the events these days. Long gone are the days of 300-400 people but its neat to see so many interested in the obsolete gear. By chance you still have that dual socket PIII Dell server?

    • @userlandia

    You jest about free laser printers but I would always look as you could find one with a rare Coldfire v5 400MHz CPU in it as the last Coldfire generation was only used in printers.

    My car makes a cameo in the parking lot. That Amiga 600 was indeed sold to the 1st or 2nd person in line. The 4000T was there still when I got in there. I've never seen this event that crowded before. Saturday was nuts and I have a feeling way more then 600 people were there. Sadly I missed a few talks on Sunday while waiting for my Amiga 4000 to be repaired.
    Also "Lower Decks"!

      You're lucky I couldn't figure out a way to work in "The Bag-o-Change Expressway" into the script. ;) My understanding the 650-ish was just for the presales, tack on however many people bought tickets at the door and I'm sure they had a very big number.
