    What's crazy is how much technology is actually old but new to us, the military get to play with prototypes and experiment with all kinds of advanced tech that we don't get to see for many years.

    • @RedCnMn
      @RedCnMn ปีที่แล้ว +27

      Obviously new prototypes won’t be released for the public. Imagine how many of them aren’t working properly or have unwanted malfunctions. The amount of returns would crazy high. So I’m fine with not having the craziest tech right from the get-go so that they can polish the tech and make it suitable for the public.

    • @jroc721
      @jroc721 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only tech that the military uses is for military application. If there is no military application than the military hasn’t seen it.

    • @lisandroCT
      @lisandroCT ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The military is using insanely old technology. They have a stupidly high budget because as every governmental branch, if they don't use the whole budget, it gets reduced. (Awful incentives on the government, who would have guessed?) So they spend ludicrous amounts of money very inefficiently on private contractors that can develop a couple of cool technologies from time to time. Not that they really have to deliver, it just needs to look good on paper to justify the budget and all the money that was stolen from the tax payers. Under the hood, the military and government in general is a bunch of very old tech, very poorly optimized and synced with each other.

You can actually protect its beauty without sacrificing biometrics and comfort with an OSleeve.

The total gimmick is the readiness scoring , the time it takes you to fall asleep ( doesn't account for people on their phone in bed which means they aren't trying to sleep right away. Wind down time not accounted) . There can be no generic formula for readiness scoring that applies to every individual. Definitely not scientific!

    I love the design of the Oura. It's the only type of wearable I'd be able to tolerate, especially while sleeping. However, the forced subscription model is an absolute deal breaker for me. I am truly infuriated and disgusted by this push toward ongoing subscription fees ro access your own damn data. It's happening across all industries, even in cars, so it's becoming more difficult to avoid. Not only do they extort this monthly fee out of you for access to your own data, but they also will sell your data to other their corporate partners for additional profit and you will have absolutely no control over that. Data mining is becoming the core business model in just about every industry and, in many cases, you are paying a fee for the privilege of being a product for them to sell. As much as I love its form factor, the Oura is off the table for me.

      @@summondominion I clearly stated above that I don't want any wearable that will be uncomfortable to sleep in...and watches are the worst.

    Oura Ring versus Apple Watch .. don’t know detail of data differences.. but adjustable strap makes it likely the watch sensors are always making good skin contact, whereas the fit of a ring varies with body temperature.. And you’d want to buy a ring that fits well from the off.. watch straps can be adjusted.
    Battery: Oura told me that the 15mAh (yes, very small) cannot be replaced. I believe them. Apple Watch batteries can be replaced - even a good amateur repairer can make this replacement. I don’t like totally non-replaceable lithium batteries in premium devices. I wonder whether @iFixit have looked at the Oura device..

    I have had this V2.. good, very effective but bulky on the finger. Really wish they made the thickness thinner. Tough to wear in weight training.
    And now they charge for the app... wish they didn't do that.
    For Regular users and who can pay for subscription get it!! Worth every 💵💸

    I really want to like the Oura Ring Gen 3 but the price plus monthly subscription fee is asking too much. Think of it this way..what if Apple wanted to charge you $6 per month for your own health information after you have spent $400+ on an Apple watch. Would you still buy one?

  • @JANDL4EV
    @JANDL4EV ปีที่แล้ว

    $300!?! You know, growing up I was told as technology got better, prices would go down on new electronics. All I am seeing is the price keeps going up and up. New tech is old tech and old tech is primal technology
