Anyone else notice he turned on the light in the shower room, and even though there was a sign asking to turn it out, he left it on. Lol MEN!🤣🤣🤣 Love yalls videos. I'm from hot springs national park. Found yall recently and can't stop watching!
Awesome vlog. You both make me feel comfortable watching as it is family friendly and I can show it to my students in class on the big screen without worrying about inappropriate content like profanity or other stuff. Great photography, narration and just your positive attitudes toward life. Thanks!
Love the Big Bend area, one of our our favorite places on this planet! So glad y'all have been able to enjoy and share it's beauty. The plant is an ocotillo, in the spring it's covered in beautiful red blooms.
"Bo-kwill-us" 🤣 It's pronounced "Bo-Kee-yus" OMG, I can't believe you turned back around. You were right there! The Canyon was just down the hill. Very nice area to stay as it's mostly shaded by the Canyon and cool even in the summer time.
Welcome to Texas, guys! Lol! Can't get out of ur vehicle! Nice composure going out the other side! Yes! U will b fine on ur hike! Take plenty of water and wear ur hat! Wide open space and so peaceful! Nice hike to Santa Helena Canyon! What were the daytime high temps while u were there? The sky so clear and blue! Glad u didn't have to go all the way to Alpine for groceries! That hour and 20 mins takes forever! Thanks for sharing ur Terlingua and Big Bend adventure🌞🌝✨!
Great video y'all. I'm so happy to see a video from TX! Big Bend is my favorite place to explore. It harbors an incredible amount of biodiversity - which is great for a nerdy biologist like me. Can't wait to see part 2! Keep up the great work. Cody - I'm really enjoying your cuts. Kellie - I'm literally planning to try and recreate all your camping meals!
I love to see her cooking I love it when people show themselves eating in a restaurant I'm not exactly a foodie but a lot of the meals that people make simply don't look good to me but the video where she made the hummus tomato toast oh my gosh what was that a vinaigrette on the tomatoes it looks so good. And then the pasta in the forest that also looked very good.
Always enjoy your videos! Outside of our son pleading with my wife and I to start a channel ourselves, your videos amongst others have provided extra inspiration! Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Hey Cody and Kelly.....In Big Bend N.P eh!!!!You are about 10 hours drive from us. We visited Big Bend several years ago and had a blast....Don't know the date you were there, but here are a few tips....the River road to Presidio...Rt 118 is a very nice drive along the Rio Grande....And go up to the Chisos Mountain Lodge, its about 5200 feet elevation and cooler there...Also a campground, but don't know if it is open yet due to Covid .Go on two hikes around there...The Window Trail and the Lost Mine Trail...Also in Terlingua, visit the Starlight Theater for a good meal and the locals sitting on the porch...Loved your pics at Santa Elena Canyon and at Balenced Rock...was a nice hike there right...scramble over rocks at the end though....Would love to return to Big Bend....but how is Covid doing there???Anyway, all the best to you both from Hank and Pam from South Texas...
You can grocery shop at Cottonwood in Terlinqua. Long Draw Pizza right down the road from you. It is good all the locals go there. Great BBQ at DBs Rustic Iron. The scenic drive on 170 is worth it when you have exploded all of Big Bend. I am from SC just got back from there. That fellow had his wares when we were there too but river had flooded and ramp was blocked.
I believe that plant you were wondering about, with the long skinny branches, green leaves, and thorns, is an ocotillo. We even have them here in our Southern California deserts. Enjoy your videos.
@@CodyandKellie When they die, they usually leave a skeleton that some people will plant in a pot and bring into their house for a novel decoration. My cousin had one.
Big Bend is probably my favorite place! I've been maybe 10 times - both in the middle of summer, during spring break and the first weekend in November. You hit some of the best places. Paint Gap #4 (you showed us 1, 2 & 3) is an awesome back country campsite. Our favorites, though, are McKinney Springs and La Noria #2 - both are on Old Ore Road (definitely 4wd). Love your videos - recent subscriber! Oh and BTW, those canyons are pronounced "Bo-KEY-us" and Santa "Uh-LAY-na.' Keep up the great work!
Crazy to watch this video after I watched one where they went on Jan 1st (only 3 months later) and they had snow and super cold temps. I can't wait till I get to go there myself cause it is amazing. I read a bunch a books on the history of the Texas Rangers and a lot of things happen in that area back in the late 1800's. Also the chase video was awesome as you went to breakfast.
I just found your channel. I really like your easy going, natural style, plus I tent camp with my Jeep. Nobody tent camps anymore. So of course I had to subscribe. I appreciate that you pass on information about the area you are in. Big Bend was on my list for a road trip this year. But COVID-19 put and end to that. However from what I could see, I think I could have easily social distanced. So I'll try for next year. Take care.
Nice video, my wife and I and 2 springers plan on stopping there and this video was helpful. You have a new subscriber. By the way your cooking made me hungry.
Congrats on 20k. It'll be 100k before you know it. I'm a relatively new subscriber, but I've already gone back and watched on the older content and look forward the next one.
Hi Dome Life! Really enjoyed this video. We were there in early Nov 2012, and it was still hot. I've always wanted to go back, so thanks for going and sharing your trip. An interesting book I picked up at the visitor center is Death In Big Bend by Laurence Parent. I think you'd enjoy it. Looking forward to your next video.
Great episode! I have a couple of suggestions for making things easier for airing down and backup. Boulder tools has a kit for airing down and once you set the pressure are super easy to use and are about $40 on Amazon. For airing up, the Smittybilt 2781 Compressor is awesome , it will air up a 35 tire from 16psi to 30 psi in a couple of mins. 4WP usually has the best price on them, around $130. Should cut your air up time down to 10mins.
We are at BBNP and BBRSP in a few days. I make that grilled cheese sandwich with green apple, I’m going to try the pear. But we use jalapeño jelly that gives it a little heat
