There is so much appreciation due for the long days you must put in to gather such valuable footage. Not quite sure how you organize it all, but the final results are fantastic. What a striking example of the mountainous desert terrain of Texas, and a great peek into Mexico too! I hope you get the opportunity to explore the lesser known deserts of Idaho, Oregon and Washington at some point, they are really something. Also, love your 4x4, but I agree, it would be wonderful to see another perspective of your adventures from an awd class C. Fingers crossed for that idea!🤞
The trailheads scattered everywhere are a great reason to camp there. Mexicans keeping their traditions moving their crafts on horse looks like something you could see 100 years ago.
Thank you so much for sharing your Big Bend travels. So much time and effort to show us this national treasure. I truly look forward to seeing what you have to share with us on Sundays! May God continue to keep you and your wife safe on your travels.
Wow! I really enjoyed seeing you in Mexico and enjoying the food there. Traveling Robert, this was AWESOME! Thank you so much. Looking forward to the next video.
Robert, this is one of your channel's best (if not the best) episodes ever. Now I am thinking of taking my family to do this leg of the trip. Cheers from Puerto Rico, Roberto!
Big Bend does have everything, doesn't it? I went back in April 2009 and had a great time. Very impressed with Big Bend and looking forward to going back...one of these days
I really enjoy your videos, especially when you go to the west. Thank you for showing my state of Texas. Our state is so huge that you should probably do a whole series on this state. But thank you for showing Big Bend. Look forward to your upcoming videos.
Thank you, Robert. Very nice presentation of Big Bend National Park from these last 3 posts. It's my "home park" so to speak, having first come here in the very early 70's. Only picked up on your channel 4-5 months ago when I started researching Alaska. I've really enjoyed going back through your content. You make me laugh quite often with your sly humor. Looking forward to more adventures with you. And in Texas, we call it the Rio GRAND.
I’m not fluent in Spanish but always prefer to pronounce words correctly in the native tongue….as do the many millions of Texans of Hispanic heritage.😁
ben türkiye den izliyorum hemde ilk günden beri .beni şehrin sıkıcı kalabalığından alıp dünyanın engüzel doğa harikası yerleri senle geziyorum adeta. çok teşekkür ler seni beğenerek izliyoruz.
Perfect place to be bilingual 😊...don't know why, but would love to drive those roads in a white Hemi Challenger 😊...need to get now a Serendipity Tshirt for a hat 👒 now...
Hey Robert, I’m sure you know how lucky you are to be able to do this for a living. It’s my dream to travel the country like this and I pray that one day it’ll happen for me. I don’t think I’ll document it for TH-cam, but I’ll enjoy it nonetheless. Thanks for all you do.
Mornin' Robert! love your "Didn't Bring My Hiking Shoes" shirt! 🙂 Watching this episode gives me a major sense of Déjà vu--in a way you are following my footsteps from the trip I took to Big Bend in '96. Same campground, same hikes, same hot spring, same dip in the Rio Grande...very cool! (my cooking wasn't up to your standards though...ha!) Until next time, happy trails!
Good you didn't take the burro, not to mention the guide, but the saddle wasn't fastened at all and slid sideways. Fell on my backside. Yeah, that and backing into a cactus there was a theme Ito the trip I could have done without.
Yay love this next time Robert bring a hiking stick those help a lot when you hike trails like that in the mountains Rocky Mountains, especially over there in the desert
Wow the music you add to your video makes it so Profesional . I would love to go into Mexico like that . Thanks again for taking us on and adventure with you !!
There is a section of the campground that allows generators. That's where we stayed, but even then it was hard to keep our batteries going for five nights. Those12v refrigerators are indeed power hogs. Especially when you load it up the first day with food needing be be brought down to temp. That makes them run extra hard. Was pulling 12 amps at one point. I felt like Doc Brown calculating his "1.21 Gigawats" every day to see how long we needed to run the generator to get back up to full. Kind of spoils the fun stressing. Luckily, I installed 250w solar before and got a spare battery just in case. Now running 2 100ah in parallel. Still not what you have there.
We visited last Thanksgiving and stayed in Terlingua near the Starlight Theater. You could see the Mules Ears from our AirBNB. Watching your videos was a great reminder of our trip. Still can't believe we got there before you did!
Fantastic video!! You finally made it to Old Mexico by a little boat. We always walked over a bridge in other towns...i think a horse ride would had been fun too ..Rio Grand..
If you are in Mexico , it is Rio Bravo, here in the USA, where freedom of speech still rules, you can pronounce it whichever way you wish. The correct name given is Rio Grande, Spanish for big river. Many original names for cities, towns, mountains, etc, unfortunately some have tried to switch, especially around the Austin area. Being born and raised in Texas, I choose to honor the correct pronunciations no matter what language. Robert, just pronounce them the way you see them. It’s all good. Your videos are great!
Still get some get laughs after years of watch your channel and you pronouncing Spanish names. There is a road along the river from the canyon all the way down almost to boquillos Little ruff but those wanting to camp primitive and some cool views. It is worth it. Need 4wd and high clearance. Take a tow roap
Congratulations for sharing this parts of Mexico. I did the same thing in 2022 and the current on the river was not as nice as you showed. The ferry as you call it, they struggle to take us accross, but it was alot of fun
I usually stay in Terlingua, Tx. Full hook ups with restaurants and other attractions. Your park pass is good for a week coming and going. I usually visit Big Bend in the daytime and then enjoy the nightlife in Terlingua. Enjoyed you video!
Was in Perry from 19th to 22nd :-) Too bad I didn't know where Pelicamp was so I could take a look 😞 I was able to visit my sister whom I had not seen in over 30 years...what fun!!!
another wonderful video. I have to agree with you with regards to those darn 12v fridges. We had one in our previous trailer, and we are so pleased to be back to a propane/electric fridge in our current trailer. Yes it is a little smaller, but we can stay off grid for days with this thing running on propane and save our battery energy for lights, and charging of our electronic devices, and running the furnace fan on chilly evenings, and know that with a 100 watt solar panel we can be just fine for a long time. Add a 12v fridge in the equation and we are doomed overnight. As always, safe travels....
Robert your a tech-ee. Have you considered getting a Ham radio license? Beautiful video. Did you say Tamales???? And didn't get any...I've told my friends that if they ask me if i wanna get Tamales or tacos and I say no, then get me to a doctor immediately .
It was really good to watch who's going to cool being able to just walk across the river and stuff to being in another country no guards really anything
Our Micro Minnie has a propane/electric fridge. I've only heard bad things about the 12v jobs. Your comments, more than most others, confirm the issues the 12v fridges bring, especially with no hookups.
Have you considered installing a DC to DC charger? We did it last year to charge out lithium batteries from the truck while we're driving. It's made a huge difference. Now we charge in the rain or at night while driving.
@@TravelingRobert Do you have large wires from your battery to a separate charger in the trailer or are you just using the 12 volts from the trailer plug?
@@TravelingRobert I'd love to get an imported JDM (Japanese) camper they're almost all 4wd. Mitsubishi Canter/Delica, Nissan Atlas, Isuzu Elf, Toyota Camroad, etc. Problem is they have to be 25 years old. But, like Euro-style.
What a marvelous landscape 😊 one question…When we visited Tombstone there was a control station and many border patrol in the area. Little spuky for us germans but everything was fine and everyone was very friendly to us so no matter of that experience. But this area is much closer to the border, so we are wondering about that 🤔
@@TravelingRobert thanks 😊 we are looking forward to your upcoming amazing videos! Especially about your actual trip…we go to the Mighty 5 in September 🇺🇸❤️
I’d get 2 dozen tamales and freeze what I don’t eat for lunch. I did that in Raleigh, NC in my apartment complex. The Mexican guys would go replace roofs and their wives would make tamales and enchiladas. They would sell them out of the trunk of the vans or cars. I would buy a bunch of each (cheap) $1.00 each, and freeze them, take them for lunch.
Did you get a permit to film in Big Bend? The NPS requires all commercial videos regardless of size of equipment and crew to get a permit before posting and videoing. The NPS can and will fine you and require you to pull down all NPS related videos. Please apply and get the correct permits so your videos can be posted. I love your content and would hate to see it go away.
Uggh. I hate 60fps. Has its downsides for lower spec PCs watching at 4k. Most professional film makers on youtube use 30 or 24fps for realistic cinematic video and slight "motion" effect as opposed to unrealistic "smoothness"

One of my favorite places. As a native Texan, I pronounce the river as Rio Grand(no E).

Sony AX53, GoPro7, GoPro11

Mexican or Cuban food? Similar?
Somewhat different. I like both of course.
