- A young, relaxed and barefoot Linda Ronstadt sings the John D. Loudermilk song, Break My Mind, live with her 1970 band, Swampwater. Break My Mind was a track on her first solo album, Hand Sown ... Home Grown.
Swampwater are Gib Guilbeau (guitar), John Beland (lead guitar) Eric White (bass) and Stan Pratt (drums).
A year later Linda's band would include future Eagles' members, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner.
The performance was featured in the 1970 film Calebration, made to highlight acts booked by kdf reynolds.

That dress is sooooo cool! Love her style in that period.
First heard this song when Wreckless Eric did it. Great song

This is one of the only videos I've ever found of Swampwater, making it a gem despite its horrid quality. Here we see the early Eric White version of the group (Eric was the brother of Clarence & Roland White and later dropped the bass to become their road manager). The cameramen must have been autistic because there isn't one shot of John Beland, even during his solo. This version ain't as good as the studio version (which featured Clarence White on lead guitar), but it's such a treasure to see Swampwater in a video.
This was uploaded in honor of Gib Guilbeau, who recently passed away. RIP to the founding father of Country Rock.
Thanks for the personnel info, I've amended the header text. I'm glad it's back on the net in better quality now. It's strange the way John Beland is ignored throughout the video.
The Mike Douglas show also has Swampwater.
Wow...this old video of Linda Ronstadt and Swampwater is a real Gem. Thank you for sharing such a Classic video of Linda's early days.

Usually we hear “Break my heart”. Interesting lyrics. I wonder if Linda wrote this song (?).
