A very interesting discussion. I don't know the Wing at all. But if I understand correctly it was a women only space? Building a business model where you prevent half of your potential customers signing up will certainly make it an uphill struggle unless you can really incentivise the remaining customer base.
There are many successful coworking spaces that focus on women as their ideal member...but the model has to be right-sized for the market and has to have a product mix that is purpose-built for the end-user.
I followed this company for a while and never knew why they just abruptly closed and this makes a lot of sense. She actually received a lot funding for this business, so that’s a big yikes. You would have thought they had a-lot of traction because they were opening up new locations pretty quickly. There was also some controversy about how they treated their employees as well.
