Love this series!! It's super helpful. I currently have a huge angel pair in my 150 with a pair of severums, salvinis, and schools or Rainbow fish and Cory's. They're all getting along super well but having the bigger space was definitely needed now that they're adults.

Have a single Angel in a planted 29g. He's about 5yrs old and the size of my hand. He continues to do very well. Lots of personality. I think the key is to find fish that live at different levels in the tank. I've tried a few things with him. Black neons are great, cardinals great. I've also got Hillstream loaches in there. I know an odd combo, but the loaches are happy and spawning right now. He has no interest in them whatsoever. The tank is 18" tall, The angel tends to reside middle level. The tetras are all over, the loaches are usually at the bottom or on the tank wall.

the angles don’t eat the black neons? that’s my biggest concern with the larger fish 😅

Thank you Mary 😎this is awesomeness. I feel like I get to know other people even if virtually to this fish community! I'm so inexperienced but extremely eager to learn everything I can. I'm a perfectionist by nature and take everything very seriously.
Here I go into any given fish selling establishment. That's not a .25 cent feeder comet goldfish in that disgusting overstocked tank that is a living being that should be treated with dignity respect and love 💕
And don't even start with me about the betta cups,! I want to buy the whole wall of them and take care of all of them

Thank you I am very grateful to have it I haven't stocked it yet with plants or fishy friends but I'm absolutely looking forward to it but using caution trying not to make any mistakes. I do have a 15 gallon column tank that I haven't used yet so I'm kind of using that philosophy of 15 gallon plus a lot of more depth. I'm going to have to stand on a ladder to be able to reach it into it but that's okay 😎😎😎👍 it'll be worth it

I have platies in with my Angels, along with Bristlenose. Heavily planted 180 with snails and a bunch of Mopani. Everyone is happy and spawning/breeding. There's also one fat ember tetra that got moved when we took down my son's tank. The platies are nice because the fry are enrichment for the Angels, and the Angels keep the Platy population from getting out of control.

Happy happy Monday guys!! I love these buddies series 💗
Thanks for how you always tell us everything that we need to consider when choosing our buddies for our fish!!
Great video, great fish, and always the most beautiful tanks😍
Thanks for being our buddies 🤣🥰 and helping us be successful!!
I'm always interested in what can be buddies with Bettas and nano fish ... Cories are always my number one Buddy's in my fish tanks!!
I also really enjoy the community tank that I set up for my daughter.. CPDs, Daisy Rice fish, pygmy cories, Guppies, mystery snails and shrimp.. there's a lot of activity and fun to watch!!
The worst mistake in my beginning fishkeeping journey on buddies that didn't work.. I had a whole school of albino Cory's in a 75 gallon, I went to the fish store and found the most beautiful juvenile African cichlids.. I only bought them for their beauty and had no idea what types of fish these were until it was too late 😭
Thank goodness I found you guys , so I don't have to live and learn with those mistakes anymore! Have a wonderful day and much love always 🙏🌿🐟🌿💚
PS.. what a surprise to see you guys on OFR Friday night I'm usually lurking... But it was a lot of fun to see Jason hanging out!! I hope you all had a great time in Ohio!!!

Thank you again for your response earlier to my post. I'm hoping to get to the aqua shella in Orlando next year. Oscars and angels have always worked out great for me. Same goes with blood parrots, electric blue acaras, salvini(mine was probably a huge exception), green terrors(you'd be surprised by how well they go together), firemouths and convicts.
Some of the riskier tankmates that I've seen work out are red devils, vieja melanura, arowanas and channa barca.
    Edit:
I forgot to add goldfish. I live in a tropical country and goldfish here are bred at the ambient temperature so that's not an issue. But my dad, who introduced me to the hobby very early on, loved this combination.

Love this video. My angel “Godzilla” loved 10 years with us and we just lost him. He ate all his buddies when he was young - hence the name , but was so happy and long lived as a solo in a beautiful tank. He liked all the attention. Now to consider what next. Thanks for all the ideas for possible buddies. Maybe my next one will be more of an angel than a Godzilla!

I have an Angel like that. Was yours a golden (orange and white combo) as well? He only tolerates the half dozen dwarf chains I built a tunnel system for. Alex on Fishtory channel has same Golden type has to be totally alone as well, so just curious. The only type I've been able to keep together for a long time were the common silver. 8 in a 150 well stocked community with the temp kept on low end did the trick

Great video; I’ve tried most of those suggestions in the past/present. I did try putting my Pinoy blue angel in with my Severums in my 125, and the Severums were having none of it. I then moved the angel over to my 55 with 5 redhead Geos, 8 peppered Corys and a bristlenose and everything’s been perfect there since.

Just had 2 brand new Marine land Penguin 350 filters arrive, putting them on my cycling 70 I'm setting up. I've used most every HOB filter there is over 30 years fishkeeping. I didn't realize how very good these are until just 2 years ago. Got a Penguin 200 for a snail/ crayfish tank. Do what this video says, you'll have a clean, clear, well filtered tank.

I've kept Pt. Santa Isabel, they grew quite large ( 30 cm)...
I' ve kept them with Rummy nose, Cardinals and Gasteropelecus. Worked very well. Watch out for small Corydoras, I found one in the mouth of one of my Angelfish.
What works well ( and a little bit smaller then regular Geophagus) with me are Biotodoma.
At the moment I keep Pt altums with Discus together with the previous mentioned ditter fish.
Small remark... in my opinion the C. Sterbaï is a perfect mate... large enough and not that timid.

Angels plus Uaru, Discus, Keyhole Cichlids, FEstivums, geophagus, rams, apisotgramaas, corys, otocinclus, tetras of all types if big enough Diamond, Lemon Serpe, Bleeding Hearts, black Phantom, von Rio, Flame, Cardinals, hatchet fish, Chocolate Ghost Knife Fish, Raphel Catfish (spotted and striped)pea puffers, fresh water flounders (Indian flounders). I've noticed that the botia loaches tend to bother angels by searching them for external parasites even when they have none.

I had a pair of young sibling angels with harlequin rasboras, and as they got bigger they started getting really aggressive...turns out they were M/F. All the rasboras were OK except the youngest who'd already been bullied by the rest. I rehomed the angels and it turns out they have mated! Had to rehome that 45 gallon tank to move, and boy do I miss it.

I have two angels in a 55 gallon with a few Corydoras, gourami and danios..
The only problem arises when the angel's spawn and they bully every other fish.. they drove the danios to the bottom of the tank with the Cory's. I'll be moving some fish around soon, get each of the gourami's their own tank. And move the swordtails out if my 40 gallon Corydoras tank they took over..
Angel fish are very nice, but very crazy when spawning and laying eggs.. I got lucky and managed to pick out a breeding pair for my 55 gallon, but it's also something that caught me off guard and I wasn't expecting, especially with the regularity of their spawning patterns.. today being the 5th time they have laid eggs, which I will take out of the tank to reduce the stress of the other fish.
Like I mentioned I have danios that swim on the bottom like Corydoras now from being chased by the anything but angel fish..

2:33 ugh platys 🤣 why overlooked? they're so dopey lol. they also swim and look like someone who gorged themselves at a buffet and can only waddle about. plus the constant pregs and babies and.... ugh. don't get me wrong, the colors can be beautiful. also realizing right now mollies/platys i'm treating those as the same thing.... but suffice to say, the more streamlined ones are fine. or, if you like a hot air ballon aesthetic. there's no wrong fish if it makes you happy (and is kept in proper conditions/housing.) :)

Due to my 55 gallon leaking, I had to move my fish into my 75 gallon. I already had 5 full grown angels, a full grown turquoise severum and full grown gold severum, 2 red shoulder severum juveniles, a rainbow shark, 2 Dennison barbs and 2 sail fin plecos. Out of the 55 gallon I had to add 2 electric blue acara, 2 geophadus tapajos and 2 geophagus altifrons with 4 full grown silver dollars. Also had to add a firemouth that had no where else to go. Needless to say the tank is way overstocked but with the turquoise severum in charge no aggression present. I have 4 angels, 2 red spotted severums ready to move and 4 Dennison barbs in a grow out tank. Just bought a 36 gallon bow front aquarium I am going to use for all 8 angels and evaluate from there. I am a 72 year old female so resealing the 55 has to wait until I can get some help. Never a dull moment but I am alone so plenty of time to keep cleaning the 75 from the sailfin plecos that are about 10” and 12”. The LFS swore they were bristle nose😂

In a large tank (55 gallon or more) it's probably not an issue. Smaller tanks - they may get nipped at by the angels.

Hi!, Thank you again for all the great content. I just need to know something unrelated to above video. I am new to the hobby. Had a fish tank for a few years, plastic plants and goldfish non heater and kept fish for the beauty there of and not knowing how to really give them the best they deserve. Had fish dying due to me not knowing what I'm doing. Now since April this year I've done many research mostly from your channel and some others what to do. Now I have 10 different size tanks al around my house with real plants and keeping fish in quantities, size tank and according to species rightly together. I have about 200 fish. Now here comes my question to you. I'm getting frustrated a bit due to fish dying every week, one or 2 from different tanks while mostly all other fish seems perfectly normal. I'm doing my best, 50% water changes in all tanks once per week. Cleaning filters(3 per tank) once per month. Air stones and air curtains in all tanks for air flow. Seeing that you also have many tanks is it normal to loose fish once per week from different tanks. Out of 10 tanks I loose about 3-4 fish per week...

That seems high? I generally don't see a lot of dead fish in our tanks. That being said, we have really tried to dial in the fish that will do well in our water parameters over the years.

@@PrimeTimeAquatics Thanks Good day. Have a question for a possible future vide, maybe...Is it ok to add any vitamins to food before giving to fish, for example color enhancing and general vitamins to keep them healthy? Also, to add any other vitamins/general tonic to water every once in a while to help fish be healthy and not get sick as preventative method. Even though there is nothing wrong with fish. Advantages or disadvantages of doing this or not doing this. I tend to fall for everything on the shelves in our local pet store that can help fish not to die. Where to draw the line maybe... Is it just good enough to do water changes and when a fish get sick to use a quarantine tank and add Salt or medication there. Or is this adding vitamins/general tonics good to do every once a while/once a month, maybe?

I have never viewed plaque as a serious algae cleaner as they much prefer to eat wood and pieces of dead meat if they can find it. Of course that would also include the odd dead fish if they can find it, but I am great lover of plaque and I do have two in my own aquarium. They make off any aquarium if you can get them at the right size but for a serious algae eater I would suggest Siamese Algae (Crossocheilus oblongus). I do not bother cleaning a lot of algae out of my tank I just leave it to the algae cleaners, I do find that it's more than suffice to keep the levels of algae down. A little piece of goo in the tank helps to keep it right and at a good balance. A sterile tank, is definitely not a healthy tank. I've been keeping tropical fish touching on 30 years, during that time I've kept all kinds of fish including South American Cichlids and African Ciclids.
I am now just into what you might call community fish that is angelfish, severins and rainbows, others, to give you an idea of what I'm into. I particularly like my Marbled Headstander which is not often mentioned in any TH-cam videos or channels to do with fish keeping, which I am a big fan of. They do not grow all that large and find they are extremely friendly, they have also got along with other fish I have put them in with though others may have had a different experience.

I used to have 2 fully grown angel fish, but 1 of them died. I went to the fish store to buy another angel fish, but he told me that my angel fish would attack the baby angel fish, so instead I bought 1 male Peacock rainbow fish and 2 Albino corydoras.
    Question.
I have a 20-gallon planted tank with an overflow filter. How many rainbow fish and how many corydoras can I have in the 20 gallon tank with my fully grown angel fish?
Also, can I add 1 female Kribensis on top of all that?
ps. I also have 2 Dwarf Plecos that I never see. lol

    • @PrimeTimeAquatics
      @PrimeTimeAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I'd probably go with 6 cory cats and 6 dwarf rainbows. The angel might have to move out as it grows. I usually wind up putting my angels in a 125 or 150 gallon as they grow.
