That is a really hard question to answer without seeing the end results you are getting. Normally people aren't getting cells becaue they use lower quality paint and because their paint is either too thick or too thin.
Fine!!! 😄. I will now be getting the Amsterdam white. YOU should be getting a commission on their paint sales that you recommend. 👌. I did two small paintings with Amsterdam pearlescent...SO beautiful.
The amount of pigment is as important as what the pigment is made out of (real Titanium oxide or "Titaium" oxide) Amsterdam also has a table which allows you to compare the mass of the pigments for individual colours (so no need for activators, if you stack the colours in the correct order of mass. I now have my penetrol and will try my first swipe soon. have you considered a similar experiment testing brands of black for the swipe? I may try swiping over a metallic as well. the metallics seem to create nice big cells in dutch pours so it may impact swipes too.
Hey David! How are you today? Tysvm for always responding to questions and comments. You're a really dope artist! So for the first time I got a pack of bugger canvases that say 100% cotton "medium grain" they seem rough compared to the dollar general ones I've been getting. Is there a specific grain you use? Or do you have any tips for medium grain or does it even matter? I got a 7 pack lol so hopefully they're ok.
Medium grain should be fine. You might need a light bit more paint to cover and you'll see the texture through a pour (which I don't mind at all). Those are the big differences.
I couldn’t find Amsterdam classic so I got the expert series titanium white. Should that work as well? I’m not getting good cells so I wonder if that’s the problem.
Question? Is there a way to stabilize/stop the patterns from moving so I can keep the cells I have developed without them getting bigger or moving? I was thinking of using my oven at different settings(bake. broil etc) and temperatures to see if that'll work. or maybe the fridge/freezer? wondering if you ever experimented with those ideas? would freezing make snowflake / fractal designs by freezing the cells? Just wondeering.

I have never done that with any pours other than the Dutch Pour. Maybe you can do a video on comparing a ring pour with a base coat and a ring pour without? Thanks!
I have one question: When I do a swipe it often looks really good at first and then the „net“ vanishes and I get big ugly „puddles“ of color… difficult to describe…basically beautiful turns ugly when it dries. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong?
It worked!!! Yes the base was too thin, now suddenly the pictures look great! Now I am going to try Amsterdam Titanium White as well. So far I have used the Titanium White from Lukas and I think this paint works pretty good for swiping as well.

I honestly don't know. I haven't run in to that problem yet. I would assume the only thing to do is the let it sit for a while and then do another layer of resin but that is just a guess.
@@LeftBrainedArtist if Amsterdam brand is adding something to the titanium white and if they are adding the same thing to the zinc white, it might be possible zinc white may act the same, but I haven't heard of fluid artists raving about "Amsterdam zinc white," it might be the pigment they are using. Si vous pouvez me dire pourquoi ?
What is the difference between tempara and acrylic paint
Tempera is made from different materials is generally washable after it is dry and most colors don't last near as long as acrylic paints.
I have one question: When I do a swipe it often looks really good at first and then the „net“ vanishes and I get big ugly „puddles“ of color… difficult to describe…basically beautiful turns ugly when it dries. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong?
Your base is too thin I would assume.
@@LeftBrainedArtist thanks a lot!! I am going to try using a thicker base!
It worked!!! Yes the base was too thin, now suddenly the pictures look great! Now I am going to try Amsterdam Titanium White as well. So far I have used the Titanium White from Lukas and I think this paint works pretty good for swiping as well.
What is penetrol is that another pouring medium
No. it is a oil based paint conditioner that I use drops of with my paint to make the lacing/celling explode more.
Can you add your recipe of penetrol with the Amsterdam and artist loft or other leading competitor to see if there is a difference with the additive?
1 drop per 20-30 grams of mixed paint. I did the same for all of the paints.
Super
Question c’est du floetrol ?

Super
Tu vois on ne me l’avais dit
Well, I do believe that it's time for me to upgrade to some Amsterdam...
It is worth it for this.
I humbly request you to make a video for liquitex pouring medium with liquitex basics. It would be great to know the correct mixing proportion for dutch pouring. Believe you are the one who could help me with this.. blessings you
I'll put it on my list.
@@LeftBrainedArtisthave you made a video with the Liquitex basics yet? Would be interested in seeing those results.
I wonder how they perform without the floetrol?
You still get cells if the paint is on the thinner side with glue and some other mediums but not with liquitex or GAC 800.
@@LeftBrainedArtist I've yet to try swiping, but I do get cells with liquitex basics and liquitex pouring medium. I may try your experiment without floetrol. I have too try swiping first. Lol
@@CelesteHitchcock Ooh, I am interested in how you do that. Liquitex is normally where I go when I don't want any cells.
Well crap, I just bought a big bottle of Liquitex white. No swipes for me. haha
There is always ways to use a good white. Just not so much for swipes.
Aussie floetrol?
I can' afford that so I have been experimenting with alternatives.
When doing a swipe do you just lightly swipe on the top of the paint instead of going down to the canvas
You have to grab some paint but you are only getting the surface paint and not down to the canvas.
u always figured it was because of being hung up on Brand name. I don't think it's better than Masters Touch or Deco Art at least from when I tried it. I know it costs more than those other Brands do as well
Master's touch white? Which deco art white? I'll just have to do more experiments.
priciest acrylic paint i ever bought was amsterdam expert pyrrole red and wow it is by far the most intense red I've ever seen, i was blown away. How is Utah basketball these days?
My old man’s league I hold my own. Thanks bjorn.
Being 75 just keeping anything in is a a nightmare,my pours improve with beer!!!
😅
😅
I'm in a state of panic! What do you do if your resin doesn't cure
I honestly don't know. I haven't run in to that problem yet. I would assume the only thing to do is the let it sit for a while and then do another layer of resin but that is just a guess.
@@LeftBrainedArtist thank you
The swipe on both the top canvas, the far right swipe they look like horses legs and hooves
You're the second one to say that.
Amsterdam mix it only with water...
Absolutely. Many mixes with Amsterdam works.
You should have included Amsterdam "zinc white" instead of doing it only with "titanium white"
I haven’t tried zinc with this from Amsterdam but I have tried some other brands and I couldn’t even get the paints to mix with medium.
It's so mysterious that each product acts differently.
@@crime_cat3973 I am always up for a new experiment.
