I just launched my brand new course the Foolproof Pouring Mini-Course. www.acrylicpouringacademy.com/fp-mini-course It's perfect for you if you haven't tried paint pouring but want to start. Or if you've just started and not getting the results you hoped. It's designed to get you started pouring fast and affordable. Leave a comment if you have any questions.
Thank you Brad, this tutorial helped to reinforce to me that how I prepare my canvas is in line with your suggestion. I must say, this is an area where I am most fastidious.💐
My pleasure Consuelo. It pleases me that you take care in preparing your canvas. I believe that if you take the time to prepare well it's far more likely you'll create a better painting. Thanks for watching and the great comment!
As large push pins are kind of hard to find at my location I did not think of using hook screws. Have all these tools at home, just didn't think of them. Thanks!
You're welcome Grace. I'm so happy you're finding the info useful. I think we all started with the canvas panels. They are great for practice but warp when they dry. Happy pouring!
Great tips Brad. I used to use cheap masking tape but found it didn't do the job and bled underneath. I now use a more expensive painters tape and it's worth the extra expense. I also use ordinary push pins but will try cup hooks or find those large push pins. I thoroughly enjoy your tips. You certainly help beginners like myself. Happy pouring 🎨👍
The more expensive painters tape definitely creates a cleaner tape line. I don't mind the slight bleed under with the cheap stuff. But I hate the giant mess that was created when I didn't use any tape. I think you would like using the cup hooks. They take a bit longer to install but well worth it in my opinion. I found the giant push pins on Amazon. I didn't put a link ther because the listing is always changing. The perfect canvas foot would be a giant push pin with a threaded point! Did I just create a product Laurita?
@@AcrylicPouringAcademy Hahahaha..... I think you just did create a new product Brad. What shall you call it. Brad's Jumbo Screw on Canvas Feet. I'm positive you'll start a trend and have buyers galore 😆👍
Another great tips video! Thanks 👍 I’ve used drawer handles screwed in with cup hooks for a really big handle on either 2 or all 4 sides before. I’m always messing up edges with fingerprints. It also helps me figure out original orientation since being level is so important 🙃
Thanks Barbara, I'm glad you liked it. Big handles on your canvas is a great idea! I've done something similar to handle large paintings. Dealing with big canvases is a tips video for another time. Thanks for watching and the great comments!
@@4getnit Yes, 18x24 is pretty much my maximum for tilting by hand. I've done some 24x30's but it's tricky. I invented a tilting table for larger pieces. I'll share that with you in the future...
Thank you very much for this tutorial, being new to the art world and with so many things to learn it can get frustrating. I have most of the items I need to start but I'm not sure where to get or the inch size of the push pin legs. Help please...thanks.😃

Hi Brad thank you for this video, very informative. Hey I really love the picture in the background on this video, the one on the right. Do you have a video of how you created this one. Thanks in advance. Karen
Thank you very much Karen. I'm so happy you found it useful. I don't have a video of that painting. But I've been asked about it many times so I will make a video creating something similar.

I thought this might include gesso techniques. I’m adding more gesso so there’s no canvas texture showing through the paint. Just wondered how other people do it.

Do u prime ur canvas before pouring
Most canvases come pre-primed. I don't typically add additional gesso.
