These girls Father was a fisherman and taught Donna Simpson the lead to play she eventually tour the streets of Australia until her sister the harmonica player joined her. And they played the streets originally until they somehow met Josh lead guitar and firmed The Waifs so it's a great story they love the music have payed Thief dues and are now great practitioners of their kraft!!
Doesn't this make you want to cry.... If you like this story listen to the Bridal Train... The story of her grandparents... I believe it won a music competition in the US.
Yeah man! I had forgotten that I requested this so it was awesome to see it show up in my notifications. I should have told you to turn it up as it's an older recording and not very loud, but sound quality is pretty damn good still and it really rocks cranked up! Great band and performance. Had to do the two songs so you could hear the younger sister's voice too. She kills it right?! Thought you would think the homemade instruments were cool too, and yes keyboardist is great. As are all of them! I keep confusing you with these cover sounding song titles haha! Thanks for this and have a great rest of your weekend man! 😎
GREAT band! I met Donna (2nd singer) in the New Orleans Tower Records while browsing records in 2002. Darlin' Aussie accent asking me if Neil Young's, "Rust Never Sleeps", is good? 10 minutes later I'm watching them perform in the store. Completely smitten and blown away... FYI & FWIW The guitar player, Josh Cunningham, is a luthier and he builds all of their acoustic instruments. Try this one The Waifs - The Waitress th-cam.com/video/gHwVrCrTHSk/w-d-xo.html
The waifs have never disappointed!!! Seen them 12 times in one year and every time topped the next!
Saw them not long ago in Brissy. They are brilliant live. So funny too.
