My dad’s an old white rocker who is maybe a little unaware of how he’s a bit racist (we’re working on it ♥️), and I showed him this. These guys have been the perfect learning tool. They rock. They speak his musical language that he finds so important, but they don’t speak his language, which doesn’t make the song worse, it’s just different than he knows. I let him listen to some songs first (he thought it was French), before showing him a music video and all he said was “wow, well I’ll be, I never.... I didn’t think.... “ and then he just listened. You guys have helped him open his heart and mind through music.

I've said it once already: The first really unique, and more importantly, good; music to come out of Africa since the early 70s.
For the few thousand people who were lucky enough to hear and see the short lived 'Monk's Experience' in 1970, the Songhoy Blues have picked up a standard which fell on a forgotten battlefield and are raising it high above the gathering army of Truly Good Music as they lead the charge against stagnation.

@@speaktoranjit I only saw them live twice and I heard a few people say that they hadn't yet made a record. After that I think David the lead guitarist became a Christian.

I´d be extremely disappointed if this was a religious song. I´m so fed up with religious/ethnical belief systems everywhere, please no more of that. There are also other important and less dangerous things in life
