True. It's nice to know how fast I'm going when there's speed cameras about, all the same, especially since I'm pretty low tech and don't have a phone/satnav in the car at all times.
That speedo cable looks awfully similar to whats fitted to Reliant Robin/Rialto (obviously check the length but the fittings each end are the same) which might be easier to source, from how you were describing the problem could your fault with the foglight be a wire or connector thats broken internally that depending on position makes or breaks the power feed to the switch?
The Reliant one is much shorter, mainly because the Reliant is very nearly mid-engined and a small car. The foglight issue could be anything, it's not appeared since this video, I'm sure it's just biding its time!
She is, and I am taking advantage of that currently, but I'd still like an MoT done for peace of mind so I can catch anything that's easier to see on a lift than it is on the drive at home.
I helped a buddy rewire an old Sprite. We junked the ENTIRE harness from bumper to bumper and installed a new kit.
That's only about 6" of wiring, Sprites are barely bigger than shoes.
Great video again!!! ❤
Went through MoT many years without a speedometer even fitted to one of my cars. Not required.

Is the gearbox end on the speedo cable, smaller to thread the bulkhead grommet over, With the help of WD40 ?
There's not much in it really, I think the risk of tearing the bulkhead grommet is pretty high whichever way you go about it.
Lucas switchgear of that era is the absolute worst. Love the air horn!
It's got... character. Yes, that's what Lucas switch gear has got. Lots and lots of character.
Lucas...the Prince of darkness.
I assume you’ve noticed the kinked coolant hose, so I won’t point it out … oops, I just did!
It's just like that. Doesn't seem to cause any problems. Another little item on my (thankfully shrinking) fix-it list.
Why would anyone bother ... Is the rear axle attached 😂
Why indeed. Axle's still on there, I reckon we're okay.
I thought she would be MOT exempt because of her age.
