    ICE (The train you took first) = Inter City Express
    IC (slower train you took from Mannheim to Bonn) = Inter City
    They are not the same, and usually IC trains are a little bit cheaper because they take longer. The ICE trains would have taken you on the Frankfurt-Cologne high speed line where trains run at 300km/h compared to 140-160 km/h on the tracks along the river Rhine.
    Also, paying for toilets is normal in Germany, but you usually get a 50 cent coupon which you can use at select shops at the train station (for purchases more than 2,50€)

    • @Mike500
      @Mike500 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And Hbf = Hauptbahnhof (head rail station = main/central station).
      Everyone hates paying for toilets, but you can't really boycott them either when nature calls... at least they're kept clean :/

    Hi shawn and Charlotte another great vlog really enjoyed seeing how easy it was to get around. We have to pay to have a Wee in UK as well . When I was in Torquay this year it was 30p for a wee. I know it's annoying but it does help to keep them clean. Looking forward to seeing the next vlog. Thanks for sharing with us. Love to you both as always Tracey 💕 xxxx

    Cheers for sharing travel journey between both Europa Park and Phantasialand. Really enjoyed, looks amazing hotel at Phantasialand, lucky to get next to Fly lol. So hopefully expecting a lot of offride shots from that view? Look forward to seeing footage of both Fly and Taron, hope in future more UK Parks, unlock that level of theming? Saw on another video the other day not related to this channel that someone would like to see a flying coaster like Fly at Chessington? I mean I would love that aswell, be something different to go there especially in section where Vampire Is. But I think tbh I would probs more like to see a GCI Wooden Coaster go in there. But thats me. Thanks for this vlog, really again enjoyed and look forward to seeing next vlog coming up. 😀👍

    It's great that you show how to travel to the parks and from one park to another, I know a lot of people who dont travel to foreign parks because they are unsure of how to get there.
    About paying for public toilets, that is to increase safety, reduce vandalism and the need for extra maintenance and to reduce the toilets being used for criminal activity.

    Excellent! :) I did something similar back in May, although in reverse - stayed in Cologne for 4 nights (at a cheap Premier Inn), including 2 days at Phantasialand and some sightseeing (including the spectacular Cathedral), then took the scenic route along the Rhine to Mainz, which has some stunning architecture (by coincidence they were also celebrating a National State Day!). After an overnight stay there, I got 2 trains to Ringsheim, changing at Karlsruhe (which gave me a 45 min break between connections). Then a couple of days at Europa Park of course!
    I think it's a great adventure and good for the environment to use Public Transport when you can, and next year I'll be taking a similar approach with Swedish Trains, visiting Grona Lund, Kolmarden, Liseberg and Tivoli Gardens! :)

    The DB app is also really useful to purchase tickets on the move and as a planner. I always use it in Germany if I'm not in Freiburg. I'd also like to mention that I prefer to go to Cologne when travelling to Phantasialand because I think it's easier, and that Mannheim is a good station to use for Holiday Park.

    Hi! You pay 1e for the toilet but you get the voucher so you can actually spend it later in a different place like gas station or a shop :) It works the same at the highways - if you have a lot of vouchers/coupons you can get a massive discount on anything - my friend "bought" a magnet souvenir for like 0,25 cents bc of the coupons :) and by the way - I love your vlogs - so simple yet so entertaining :D keep up the good work :D

    Toilet charges at €1 are standard across Germany. You get a 50cent voucher which can be used at station outlets. I do appreciate the member of staff and them being kept clean unlike free toilets in the UK. We use the toilets on the trains or at terminus stations find one that isn’t due out for a few minutes 😂
