Embrace the surrender! Whew 😮…This hits so hard. That’s the most difficult part of black womanhood, because we are praised for being the superwoman. Such a good & necessary conversation! I’m sure the book is amazing. ❤
I love what Dr Sarita said about the smile. I've gotten that tirelessly. I'm not angry, I just don't walk down the street opening my teeth. I don't need to be fake to try to impress people. It's not like I'm going around cursing and fighting people.
If you’re single, just remember how beholden you were to being unwilling to soften your face 😉. Nobody wants to get to the bottom of your unwelcoming disposition. Rarely do we get feedback and if this is something you hear often( more than twice ), stop affirming it and take some ownership. It takes a lot for someone to give this feedback to you. Try listening
"Embrace the surrender," made me go hmmmmm...God help us to help ourselves as we trust and move freely and in love for ourselves and others. No is a complete sentence!
So true.. I do still get "Smile". The other day, a person, sarcastically said... Your smile is really lighting up my day.. What is that? I'm not bubbly! I'm about business. I'm very kind. But, I've been accused, rightly, of RBF. Well that's my dad in me.... Leave me alone!
Huge dr Lyons fan. One thing about the “ you should smile more “ thing … single women, that desire a husband, remember , she’s married. Her loved experience is VERY different than yours. She and her husband are richly blessed. I would encourage you to embrace kindness because most people are not trying to get to the bottom of your miserable frown. Be pleasant. Or not but careful What you deduce. NO , nobody expects you to walk around smiling all day but please own how hard you are and admit it needs some work. The message was not to affirm your mean mug
This was really good, I love at the end how Sarita said "if the world is bold in their sin then let us be bold in our righteousness."
"Suffering does not make you significant"😢😭. What a Word, what a Word‼
“If the world is bold in their sin, let us be bold in our righteousness “ whew!! I can teach a whole lesson on this!! That was definitely a word!!
❤
I feel in community and understood! Dr. Lyons, thank you!
