- You should make it a rule and a habit to always tear up papers with personal information into small pieces before throwing them away.
- Dogs guarding a house are a burden for robbers. That’s why they may try to get rid of the “guardian” by drawing it outside when the owners are not at home.
- To prevent their potential victims from coming home earlier, robbers may drain the gasoline from their car. In the worst-case scenario, you won’t be able to get to a gas station, which means you’ll get back home even later.

- Commercial flyers are annoying pieces of trash, but little did you know that they can be used against you. Robbers mark easily accessible homes with the help of commercial flyers and simple stickers.
- Erase any suspicious marks that appear on the door of your home, on garden lanterns, or simply near your home.
- To find out at what time the owners of a home are absent, robbers call the home phone and drop a call. If a small child picks up the phone, robbers can try to get some information from them.
- A malfunctioning lock or scratches on a door are signs that somebody has tried to get into your house. Take action right away!

My house was broken into so I have another sign -- if you keep seeing someone repeatedly walking past your house and looking inside you should call the police or politely confront them - cause the police found out who the robbers were and one of them lived a few roads down and me and my family had often see him looking inside of our house .

Sometimes one or more strangers may appear in a neighborhood evaluating houses for robbery. It is called "casing houses". They usually arrive in an automobile and get out and walk the neighbor hood canvassing the area by looking at entrances, doors, windows etc...Call the police if you see this activity in your neighborhood.
They will also knock on the door right before breaking in. Happened to us last year when someone was done case in the house and thought it was empty when we were just in quarantine. It's very obvious when someone is knocking because they are casing since they really don't know what to say.

Here's something I learned the hard way. Walk your property every day, twice a day. Be sure you pick up not only those flyers and business cards on the door, but any litter in your yard, especially potato chip bags and empty soda cans. The color of these things and the direction they face can mean something to certain groups of robbers. You not only take away the signs that they have left for each other, but you add your own sign - that you are a very vigilant homeowner!
True story: I had new neighbors the we never really talked to. We went on a vacation. When we returned we found out were robbed. The police investigated and found out it was are neighbors and that they have been stalking us since they moved in.

#9 is so important and I see everyone breaking this rule. I only post photos of my vacations when I've returned home. And all the people that are like "Hey I'm going to Hawaii next week..." are just asking for their houses to be broken into. Resist the temptation to share your whereabouts on social media. If you must tell friends and family (and you should) do this through in person contact, a phone call or perhaps text message, but not on social media or even the social media chatting options. Since i rent a townhouse, I also tell the landlords when I'm going to be gone for more than a few days so they know as they do drive around the complex at least twice per day (day and night) and police patrol the area as well from time to time. So if you rent, let your landlord know you'll be gone so they can make a note in case any suspicious activity is noticed.
I’m watching this today because a man tried to enter my house today, it was very scary and the police didn’t do anything about it!
If you have announced the death of a friend or family member, be sure to have someone watch the property during the day of the funeral. I've been told that such home can be robbed while the family is in mourning.
I was at a funeral the other day also nearly every night I feel like I hear noises downstairs but now thya I think of it my sister sleeps down there and my brothers knock on the wall all the time and I have a very overactive imagination haha so it's probs nothing🤣🤣🤣

If you have weatherstripping on your doors frequently check to see if someone hasn't been trying to wedge your door/deadbolt etc. Very easy to check and could protect your family. Recently I had discovered my doors have been slowly being slowly chipped away repaired immediately and now I have proper security measures
My house has been watched and broken into. When they broken in, my friends and I were home and we scared them out apparently. Then a second pair of people started to watch us. Parking in front of our driveway at 3am. Once I even heard the doorbell ring, waited a few seconds then opened it, the people weren’t where I could see them but were saying “are the dogs home?” Freaked me out. Stay safe everyone
I was outside one night as a young teenager. I heard someone walking around from my back yard - thinking it was my uncle, I decided to hide behind a stand on our porch and scare him. It didn't end up being my uncle, instead it was someone trying to break in through our window. He had no clue that I was 3 feet behind him, and I had no clue what to do. I finally spoke up, and the guy about fainted and then took off. .....awkward.
One: Have a security dogs
Two: Have motion sensors
Three: have cameras (idk if they have this but you'll get a notification if you of the screen has motion)
Four: If your house alone, a kid, and if you get caught in these situations, (P.S: NEVER say your home alone) and the person says they need you to come out to help carry something, say you need to go upstairs to put on your shoes to go out. Then, lock the front door, back door, any door, close the curtains, turn on the cameras (for extra security lol) and then lock yourself in a room (for extra security lol) and call your parents, tell them what is happening. (if they say they'll call the police, say don't because you have the plan.) Then, go down and say that your mom is coming to help the so called kind person. That will probably scare the kidnapper away. I got this from Jessii Vee Stories. I will probably make a video on it on my channel if you want more ;)

Not nesseserily a lot of places have mail box’s away from peoples houses like at the local post office, supermarket ect
Some thieves will knock on doors and if answered they’ll ask questions like “have you seen my missing dog?” Or “do you know where this street is?”! All our kids bikes were stolen that night but I remembered seeing this person down the road. I caught the thief (he asked if I saw his missing dog the previous day), got our property back and called the police because I was about to lay em flat! I then got fake security cameras/signs and haven’t had a problem since 👍👍

I was home alone with both my bros we kept hearing strange noise and a saw a man a a woman tryna break in but both of my brothers(19 and 30 years old) confronted them and they had a little fight but the robbers ran away so my brothers won

This is along the lines of the flyer thing, but sometimes I think people are checking me by leaving garbage on my property. Quickly clear any trash you find near your home.
I think a sign saying "Beware of Dog" might deter robbers or "This house is guarded by Smith and Wesson" may work as well. Looking for footprints in dirt or snow that may be different than your own can be an indicator someone has been there recently. Don't put your garbage out until the very day of pickup...keep the can locked or in the garage until garbage day. Keep bushes trimmed down lower as people could easily hide behind them otherwise! "Beware of Dog" signs can actually be a pro for a thief. It tells them that there's an animal moving inside the house without triggering any alarms. Means they can very likely do the same

We've been robbed 2 times, and both of the times they've entered through the window. Tip for everyone don't just focus on the locks of your door, consider putting additional locks on your windows as well.
I live in an apartment complex. I found out one of my neighbors was breaking in. I got window locks 🔒

Another long winded technique is for the robber to secretly smash a house rear wndow, then wait a week! ... the owner replaces the window which uses new frame putty, so then the robber returns to remove the soft putty with a box knife and takes the window out quietly without breaking it to enter your property.
Once I lost my keys in school and told my parents, they changed the lock and blocked the chip, one day someone was really hard trying to get into our house, didn't told it to my parents yet ( I knew that I had put my keys in my bag pack like always, later I have even "lost" my bus card...) that's my experience

I was robbed the other day so I have some tips:
1. Double lock your door. My house door was not double locked and the robbers used a trick where (I don’t remember exactly) they lift up the door handle and then use a screwdriver to get in. It works because I saw screwdriver marks on the side of the door
2. Check if there’s workers outside your house in the morning and check if they look like they’re deliberately covering up your house. That happened to me and they ended up being the robbers. And ask them which house they’re working at because when I asked they said they were working at number 11 so then I asked number 11 and they said they weren’t expecting anyone.

I had a small aux gas tank on back of my truck stolen twice. On third time, I mixed the gas with sugar and the next day noticed it stolen, and some people living 2 streets over wondered why their chevy cobalt all of sudden stopped running. They blamed it on bad gas

Dont forget this trick: They lay a cookie ore something that brakes easly under ur doormat and if its broken that means your not at home (Sorry for my bad english)

A common spy, intel, special ops method is to apply a small bit of masking tape(clear). Put it on windows, doors 🚪, office cabinets, safes. 🗄. A smart move is to take 📱 pics of high value items, document 🧾 & serial numbers. This will help 🕵🏻♂️ & for any insurance.
Exacly! ALWAYS check under your doormat, walk around the house looking through windows, checking the mail, look for suspicious cars, take care of the garden, and look for marks all around the house, BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK of entering your own home.

WHOOP WHOOP, ITS THE SOUND OF THE ROBBERS
Once i got home and found the ashtray empty on the table (it was full with cigarette butts when i left) and the door handle forced, because the door automatically opened when i unlocked it, i didn't have to press on the handle. Luckily the robber(s) didn't find the key.
Now i have new doors with different handlings and unique keys. My fluffy barks everytime something is moving on the streets (people walking, other dogs & cats passing by, etc) and my Rex is watching the entrance and is ready to break his chain to catch thieves (broke it a few times for no reason XD).
If you are going on vacation you can also ask your post office to “Hold” your mail

Always keep your windows covered with curtains or blinds when your home alone
Also, if someone comes to your door and claims to be from the gas company, telephone company or any other, and you did not request service, DON'T let them in. If they claim it's an emergency, like a gas leak... ask for ID and call the company that they claim to be representing. They often do this as an easy way to see if you're home. I recently had suspicious activity in my neighborhood with people claiming to sell magazines. If there's anything suspicious, don't hesitate to call the police.
Some guy in a gray car just drove passed my house holding something and pointing it to my house, they continued this for every house that looked valuable.

Also, if you live in a condominium, check the notice board often, because they will often announce if there is a new resident. Check how long they’re staying. If they’e only staying for a few days, they might just want to blend in as a traveller to get an access card, which makes it easier to rob other rooms. If you see a person acting suspiciously near your room, *report it to the management* . Don’t answer questions to people, like ‘excuse me, where is block C?’. And, another way burglars Blend in is as a delivery worker. If they ask to borrow an access card, *dont give it to them* .
When I was supposed to be at work one day, someone rang the doorbell. I looked out of the window and the two men at the door ran away. I thought that was odd. Next day, I got a call at work that my alarm had gone off and my house had been robbed. They must have been quick because they dumped the contents of my bathroom cabinets, they stole a video camera with vacation footage inside, two brand new laptops and the big flat screen tv in the living room! This was in the early afternoon!

My house has fly nets at every window qnd we have two doors at every possible entrance all doors have at least one lock. My house also has two dogs that are trained as well as been taken camping in the out back.
We have cameras at every entrance and motion sensed lights on top of night vision cameras. We also have tinted windows and our cars are old styled cars so you *need* the key to unlock the doors. My mailbox has a lock on it, my father made it 7 years ago and installed a lock, there is a slit to put the mail through and it’s only wide enough to fit the letters through and only a baby can fit is fingers through nothing more.

Then robbers easy can see if someone has been opened the door (then the tape is broken) 2) A little piece of wood on a window (often of the backyard of the house) or in front of your front door. Food under your welcome Mat is another. If the thieves come back to check if the food was stepped on and see it is still as they left it they’ll know you weren’t home. They’ll use this to map out when you’re away from the house
Good to know. I live in a very wealthy neighborhood and my fear is that someone will break in and hurt my son or I. We have had a few robberies in my neighborhood in the past.
This is the reason why I always let my dog stay inside when we're about to sleep.

Also put 3” screws in your outer doors, saw that on U Tube. Most doors only have 1/2 inch screws that are easy to pull out!

If you have kids, turn old important papers into a project for something. For instantce, Take the old important papers, shred them, soak them in water till they are mush, and recycle them by turning them into new, homemade paper. Fun for the kids and a way of getting rid of documents that you don't want robbers or other criminals to get.

Once when three painters came to my home for painting . I remember one person stole my brother's mobile phone which was kept for charging. The next day when they came home police was inside our house to catch
them and the thief said he gave the phone to someone else. So the policeman made him pay us 45000 rupees as a fine and my brother bought a new phone .
So one tip:- when some worker is in your home and you keep the phone for charging remove your sim card .
Always keep your lights on when the house is empty...outside and inside and keep the TV on.

Once someone tried to break into my house but my neighbours called the police on him and scared him off somehow,Now we have a fierce but cute dog and whenever someone walks past the house or comes up to the house she barkes crazy and would chase a robber easy because she is such a fast runner. Who else has realised that if someone took all these procautions, they would be considered a freak or a ridiculous person. This is because if ppl can’t post pics, have to check their motion sensors and alarms EVERY WEEK and suspect there is a robber cos of garbage gone, ppl will find that weird and tbh doin that is kinda stopping u from enjoying life
