I use a scott silverhorn " hook style" and it works better for me than a single or dual caliper. My groups are tighter tight enough that I had to buy new arrows lol

I would just like to point out that using the term "inaccurate" was not necessarily the best vice of word. The bow had obviously been tuned for a different kind of release (which is ultimately what actually matters), the real question is, which type is more consistent. In archery, consistency is everything. I personally prefer the thumb release of a hook style. It is consistent enough for my practicing from 80-120 yards as well as my hunting which can be up to 110 yard shots.

Don't make it hard bro it is very easy no release is more accurate than another!!!! It is just your bow is tuned better for one release and not the other. if you change to a different style jaw you haft to tune for it lol. welcome to the world of archery lol hahaha

your accuracy isn't how close you are to the bullseye it's your group. so shoot a group with both then which ever is tighter. move your pin and or sight to be in the center of the bullseye

Mecham&Madison Volgs Boys if I move the sight over to accommodate the 35+ yd impact point, it will make the pins shooting less than 35 yes off. A better solution is to find a release that shoots the same at all distances.

I personally like a two jaw when it comes to releases. In my mind a hook or single jaw will manipulate the string. Just my .02

Love of the Outdoors I think that's a great .02! If I didn't mind taking my eyes off the deer, I think that is exactly what I would test next. I also would like a hook release that springs open and doesn't have to be pushed open by the string. Thanks for watching and your comments. Have a great day.

I love the thoughtfulness of the video and I thank you for making it. But consider this: Every force is always equal and opposite. So in the case of the caliper release with a stationary plate and single moving jaw, the string appears to want to do nothing more than slide along the non moving plate, experiencing no torque. But this "stationary" side of the caliper isn't braced against anything itself, so no advantage from this piece not directly moving is experienced. Same goes with the single jaw but with some minor changes in thought. The forces the single hook applies to the sting is aligned along the same axis as the string for the entire trigger pull (thus giving no torque to the system during this phase). Torque can technically be produced at the near instantaneous moment of release (the actual moment the hook and loop stop making contact) but any rolling or torque experienced by the hook on the string isn't counter acted or braced against anything, so again, these forces would be intensely low, relying on friction alone to create them.
My assumption is the hook style release is newer to you and your shooting style. This makes it a less accurate release for you at this moment. Not that hook style releases are inherently less accurate than caliper, as basically every pro scene for the last 20 years will show you that a hook style release is essentially always used (back tension, thumb trigger, finger trigger). I imagine if you had equal experience with both styles, your results would be different.
Again, thanks for the sincere video! It made me think a little harder as well!

I choose to hunt with a hook style because I'm more comfortable with it and it's easier to clip in the d loop

Well, all the commenters missed the elephant in the room. Did you notice the LSU shirt? Lol. Go Gators! Long live the SEC. if you want to see how a hook release shoots watch a Cameron Hanes you tube. He shoots a spot Hogg hook release and can hit a tennis ball at 80 yards. I think both releases are good, they just won’t shoot to the same point of aim. Pick the one you like and sight your bow in with it. I would also suggest the Carter like mike, which mister Ellis May be showing us, a hook release that can be set up to 5 pounds trigger pull. Good for those of us with target panic that tend to slap the hair trigger releases.

Steven, I’ve enjoyed your response. I’m going to check out the videos from Cameron Hanes to get his take. Thanks.

Can you please make more videos about your bow and archery as a whole

So if I’m understanding you, arrows released from your bow impact a little more to the right the farther from the target you go, with the hook style making more of a difference. If I’m correct, and I’m assuming so because you never mentioned avg. group sizes, your issue is a bow tuning issue, which is VERY common with modern compounds and carbons with very few spine selections. I say that because I’m no genius, but if only one of the releases moved the groups off two on side of the bullseye when you walked back said release would be the issue. Groups from a tuned bow should increase at increased yardages, not veer to one side consistently.

You lost me when you couldn't figure out why one shot better groups. One shot 3/4" group the other 1.5" groups.

Terrible draw form, never draw your bow facing the sky
