Brooks story will forever be so much more tragic than Robin's to me.
Yes she has to live with, and in her mind relive the tragedy of Ohara probably every day.
But Brook had to live through his tragedy twice in actuality, with the second time taking decades to pass, meanwhile carrying that with him, but still bringing smiles to faces with his music - Every. Imu-damned. Day.

it's kinda sad that you skipped Nami, where as she was the person who mostly resembles Ginny. I think it was the hardest for Kuma when he had to seperate Nami from the rest of the crew. Nami was the first Strawhat that Kuma encountered, and at that time Nami was in a wedding dress escaping from a forced marriage(just like Ginny) it must've been hard for Kuma to see that. And the place that Kuma decided to send Nami in Sabaody was A sky island, a place that Bonney wanted to go to celebrate her 20th birthday(in the end Nami actually had to celebrate her 20th birthday there), it was also a place that is perfect for Nami as she is smart and witty(just like Ginny) to learn and expand her weather knowledge and navigation skills.

Kuma didn't know what had happened between Zoro and Mihawk but he did know that Mihawk had a interest in the Straw Hat Pirates because Mihawk himself said so in the meeting in Mary Geoise. Given What he had seem of Zoro in Thriller Bark he would've probably guess that sending Zoro to him would've been okay

    • @SOLDAT_MENDES

for real, It's possible that Kuma was aware of Mihawk's interest in the Straw Hats and that he sent Zoro to him with the intention of having Mihawk train him.
Mihawk is the world's greatest swordsman, and he is known for his reclusive lifestyle. He rarely takes on students, and he only does so if he believes that they have the potential to become truly great swordsmen.
Zoro is a skilled swordsman, but he is still relatively inexperienced. He needs a mentor who can help him to reach his full potential, and Mihawk is the perfect choice.
Kuma may have sent Zoro to Mihawk in the hope that Mihawk would recognize Zoro's potential and take him on as a student. If Mihawk did agree to train Zoro, it would be a huge opportunity for Zoro to grow and develop as a swordsman.
It is also possible that Kuma sent Zoro to Mihawk as a way of testing him. Kuma may have wanted to see if Zoro was strong enough and determined enough to survive on Mihawk's island.
If Zoro was able to survive on Mihawk's island and learn from him, it would prove that he is a true warrior. It would also show that he is worthy of being Luffy's first mate.
Whatever the reason, it is clear that Kuma sent Zoro to Mihawk for a reason. He believed that Mihawk was the best person to help Zoro reach his full potential, and he was willing to take a risk in order to make it happen.
This act of faith shows that Kuma believed in Zoro's potential, and that he wanted to see him succeed. It is a testament to the bond that Kuma had with the Straw Hats, and it is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.

While it's likely that Kuma made certain assumptions about Luffy's character and how he'd handle Amazon Lily. I think one huge reason is staring us right in the face. Kuma knows why Saobody is a warzone when he gets there, he knows that Luffy rocked a celestial dragon right in the teeth, if he knows a single thing about Boa Hancock he'd know how much shed respect that. Couple that with Amazon Lily being historically closed off and you get an ideal hiding place.

Also I guess why he arrived in Sabody in time to teleport them was because he was travelling to meet someone on New World. And accidentally arrived in time. And I guess the one he trying to meet was SHANK. At the end of battle of Marinefort, Shank by somehow appeared immediately to protect Koby and ended the war and their ship by somehow after fighting with Kaido a short time ago can go from Wano to Marinefort IN TIME without BE SPOTTED. My theory was that he knew if Luffy be separated, he will trying to rescue Ace and he really want someone to take care of Luffy. After teleported SH to his designated location, he told Rayleigh about Luffy's location and proceed to Fishman Island on coated transportation ship and met Shank on halfway. Then after discussion he teleported Shank and Ben Beckman to Marinefort DIRECTLY, meanwhile his ship and crews be teleported to another safe location near Marinefort. Thanks to Kuma the Red Hair Pirate already in position before the battle began and they only intervene when Luffy's life in danger. That's also explained why he need a while to returned and protect Thousand Sunny because he has to wait for another coated transportation vessel passed through.

That's a very insightful point cause. It is certainly possible that Kuma sent Luffy to Amazon Lily in order to protect him from the World Government and its agents.
Kuma knew that the World Government would be looking for Luffy after he punched a Celestial Dragon, and he knew that Amazon Lily would be a safe place for him. The island is secluded and heavily guarded, and it is unlikely that the World Government would be able to find Luffy there.
Kuma also knew that Boa Hancock would be sympathetic to Luffy's plight. Hancock is a former slave herself, and she understands the suffering that Luffy has endured. She would be more than willing to help him, and she would also be able to protect him from the World Government.
Sending Luffy to Amazon Lily was a risky move, but it was also a calculated risk. Kuma knew that Hancock would be able to protect Luffy, and he also knew that it would give Luffy a chance to recover and regroup.
This decision shows that Kuma was not a mindless slave to the World Government. He was still a man of compassion and loyalty, and he was willing to put his own life on the line to protect those he cared about.

I think that Robin was sent to the Revolutionaries not only because Kuma knew that his 'family' would protect her the most, but it was mentioned by a Revolutionary agent at Tequila Wolf that the Revolutionaries had a standing order to protect Robin if she was ever found.

    • @Essebas
      @Essebas 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +178

Is also worth mentioning that the Ohara incident was a big trigger to the foundation of the revolutionary army, so is natural to them to protect Robin at all costs.

    • @SOLDAT_MENDES
      @SOLDAT_MENDES 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

lol, That is an interesting point. It is certainly possible that Kuma was aware of the Revolutionaries' standing order to protect Robin, and that this played a role in his decision to send her to them.
Kuma was a Shichibukai, and he was aware of the Revolutionaries' activities. It is possible that he had some kind of contact with them, or that he had learned about their standing order to protect Robin through other means.
If Kuma did know about the Revolutionaries' standing order, it would explain why he sent Robin to them. He knew that they would be able to protect her from the World Government, and that they would also be able to help her to find her place in the world.
It is also possible that Kuma had a personal connection to the Revolutionaries. He may have known some of their members, or he may have sympathized with their cause.
Whatever the reason, it is clear that Kuma sent Robin to the Revolutionaries because he believed that it was the best place for her. He knew that they would be able to protect her and help her to find her place in the world.
This act of kindness shows that Kuma was not as heartless as many people believed. He was a complex and conflicted character who was capable of great compassion.

Nami: Self-explanatory. He sent the Weather/Climatology savant to a place she could properly train and study.

Sanji: A Kick fighter who cooks, and One of Luffy's top two Fighters. Sent to a place where he would be able to access great recipes and learn from a people that fight with kicks. The unexpected bonus is that Sanji would spend all his time running and hiding, and building up his strength in the process.
Zoro (and Perona): Obviously, the Future World's Greatest Swordsman could stand a lesson from the Current one. I believe Kuma picked up that Mihawk was having a small mini internal issue concerning human bonds and felt it would be mutually beneficial, which is why both Perona and Zoro were launched straight to Mihawk's doorstep, leading both Zoro and Perona to get stronger during the Timeskip. Training for the youngsters. A lesson in people skills for Mihawk.
Luffy: Is the tricky one and I believe that the unknown predecessor of Hancock may have ties to the Revolutionary Army that has yet to come to light. Regardless, Kuma also told Rayleigh his plan and if push came to shove, dealing with an Angry Hancock until Rayleigh arrived was better than fighting Kizaru.

There's a really cool amateur documentary detailing Oda's journey into becoming a world class manga writer.
In it it states that Oda's former boss kept pushing him and pushing him to make new characters and stories. Oda didn't understand at first and was extremely frustrated that he kept making new stories and characters for years and then being told to scrap them and make a new story, or make the characters or story have more depth.
Finally he realized that his boss was creating in him the ability to make many characters, to never forget about them, to truly base stories off characters, to understand that cool pictures and non character driven plots aren't enough.
Then BAM, one piece starts and Oda is READY. Not only with the story he's been thinking about since a child and with nice artistic skills, but with new skills of being able to create a TON of characters, while making them interesting, useful to the plot and unique.
That documentary finally helped me humanize Oda, I thought of him as a God and truly wondered how someone like him came to be. But now I can see the tiny steps, step by step, that it took to make him into the writer and artist that he eventually became.
I recommend every one piece fan watch it.

Eggland Island has done a lot of great things but for me getting more on Kuma(my favorite warlord) and the contextualization of his actions/ the Paw Paw fruit's pain ability has been a treat. It really does make his actions at Thriller Park and Saobody that much more palpable. There are still some more details that need to be fleshed out, like how he became known as the "Tryant" and a warlord, but Oda overall has been on fire with this arc/ backstory.

Well, wouldn't it make sense that the title of "Tyrant" was awarded to him by the world government. Much like the "worst generation", the titles do not represent the actual actions of the pirates, but rather the level of danger they pose to the world government. As such, once this title was awarded to Kuma, he choose to take on the role of warlord to protect his country and rule it like Dressrosa. Trafalgar did also take on the title of warlord during the timeskip, so he could safely traverse the grand line. Once a pirate has been labelled "Tyrant" or "Worst generation" they could expect a more aggressive response from the marines.

Kuma sending Luffy to Amazon Lily for me, has always been related to the fact that Luffy recently punched a Celestial Dragon. It's possible that Kuma knew the story behind Boa Hancock, as she was a warlord like him, and was once part of the revolutionaries. I think he knew Luffy could find support in Amazon Lily in the situation he was in that moment.

I think the question Kuma asked Perona has a bit of meaning behind it, where would you go for a vacation? Kuma can travel to many locations all over the world, and has likely helped the Revolutionary Army by researching islands. Brook is going to be the least likely to have much thought as Kuma had only recently met him. For the others, he made sure to send them somewhere that they would be able to get stronger the the areas they excel at.

Kuma sending the crew to their temp homes for training was always ingenious because it gave them a way to not only get stronger but, it kept the government from going after them since at that point they were essentially on their own. When Kuma's flashback started it made it so there's a new way to look at it which is always what I love about this series. Though it could've been possible that for some of the other crew members, since Kuma and Vegapunk are good friends is it possible that he sent members like Nami, Chopper, and Usopp based on his suggestions or what he found in his research?

I think it's very possible kuma already identified Luffy as Nika and sent him to Amazon Lily, knowing that only a man who carries Nikas will could get the Amazons to spare him. This would connect with Mihawks statement that Luffy has the most dangerous power - to gain allies everywhere, so maybe that's part of being Joyboy/Nika

Watching this after reading 1099 gives things a whole new context. Knowing that Kuma put this much thought into where he sent the Strawhats mentioned in this video, we now have even further context about why the others were sent where they were. This only adds the conversation about Kuma's true intentions and reasonings behind how he helped the crew during and after Sabaody, plus in hindsight his character seems a lot more layered and nuanced in his actions; was he truly this foreboding about all that was to come regarding Luffy and the others? Interesting stuff!

I enjoyed the video, but I think you focused on the easy ones and it's the others that we should theorize more on. If we treat Kuma as the main character serving his own goals rather than the Strawhats, what purpose for him would Chopper, Nami, Usopp and Brook's destinations? Do any of these islands have ties with Kuma's past? Is weatheria the sky island he planned to take Bonnie to? Do the wizards have ties to the revolutionaries? Did the tribes people on Chopper's island? Did the revolutionaries use the Boin Archipelago as a base? What was Brook's choice for?? That's the big one I can't figure out. Was there something he missed? Was that the last place he rescued with the Revolutionaries? Why did none get sent to the Sorbet Kingdom? I hope that we get some hints at these in the upcoming chapters. Thanks for the fun video!

Similar to Bonnie picking a future variant of the person she ages, Kuma can will a destined location for the person he pushes. The hand of liberation sends you to the best location for you, and/or Kuma can pick the location. This makes sense for his early use of the fruit as it should be based on your knowledge of the world's geography.

From the moment it was revealed that Kuma was a slave, I knew there was no way he was going to give Luffy up to the gov. The way I figure, Kuma was there to take Luffy to Dragon but was stunned into changing his mind. After the crew telling him off post conflict with Moriah, AND 2 of them making it through his attack AND one of them immediately counterattacking, I think Kuma decided the kid was going to be alright... but if Kuma were to have gotten word of what Luffy did at Sabaody... that's probably what made him decide he was going to bet on him.

I think one possible connection for Amazon Lily is that Kuma being a former slave and a fellow warlord may have known about the Hancock sisters past. Pair that with Luffy being Nika, he may have made the gamble that Luffys personality and potential as well as his care for freedom wouldve earned him the trust of Hancock as a former slave who was freed and that Luffy would ultimately be safe there. Add on to Rayleighs connection to the island through his wife, it was a good choice for him.
