I have the Kreg Rip Cut and it is a great tool. When I use it, I cut the plywood just a tiny big larger then run it through the table saw for perfection. It is also a great tool to have to cut your sheet goods down in the parking lot to make them fit into a small car. I use my little Ryobi saw on it.
Matt, I just wanted to thank you for your build videos, even when you didn't have "nice" tools. I was watching your videos a couple years ago and thought, I've got wood and all those tools, let's build something. Thanks for the encouragement. I've now built cabinets, furniture, and Adirondack chairs. I've had to upgrade tools to increase productivity and just ordered the Ridgid version of the delta cruzer to upgrade from my harbor freight miter saw. Thank you for being a blessing and inspiration to all of us who hear the message. I recently posted a wood working short that got over 10 k views over night.
Bonus on the Skill Miter saw... the angled motor. I dont think it gets mentioned enough, but the miter saws with the angle motor make a huge difference on large stock
Damn that's nice. Never thought about them when I was looking into this saw. Went with the Ridgid that's built from delta, same as the delta Cruzer. Happy with my decision but I really like the idea of that angled motor.
I'd like to see a shoot out of tabletop jointers at some point. I've been thinking about one, and I'm not sure between the budget ones like Wen or a mid level like Rikon, or something even fancier. Great video as always!
I use the craftsman v20 tools. I prefer the cordless sander versus corded. It made sense since I already had other tools that use the same batteries. The V20 4ah batteries last forever.
Kobalt, Craftsman, Dewalt portable table saws are made by Stanley Blank and Decker. I was shopping for one in June and downloaded manuals for all three. The manuals are almost identical and you will notice some features are the same on Dewalt and Kobalt. I decided on Dewalt when Lowes had it on sale. I started with Craftsman ("Sears Best" in their Good, Better, Best lineup) power tools in 1973 and found them to be a great value when on sale, which was frequent in those days.
I had to look for more budget friendly options after loosing a good job a little more than a year ago. I went with the skill router combo here and was blown away. I love my dewalt and Bosch routers but this is right up there. After that experience, I found myself needing a mitersaw again to help set up my new shop. Again, I was blown away by it. Even though things are getting better as far as my job goes, I won’t hesitate to get more skil tools
@@Tom_37 STANLEY BLACK & DECKER is the parent company of both DeWalt and Craftsman. So, the two are completely compatible. S B & D purchased Craftsman from Sears in 2017 for $900 million. Black & Decker purchased DeWalt in 1960 from AMF. Stanley Works merged with Black & Decker in 2010 to form Stanley Black & Decker.
The brushless drill and impact is jam up. Good value if you already have the batteries for other tools. They should however come with belt clips. Amazon will sell you generic belt clips for like $6 though. Not really a woodworking tool but the craftsman caulk gun is great addition for around $50.
Where is the ten thumbs up button? This is my favorite 731. I love your love for the Savior and the little reminders of Him throughout the videos. You found new features on some tools that I wish had been available when I started. Watching was a bit like finding two young people with name tags and listening to their message deeply and honestly.
That Kreg rip jig is a game changer! better than a track saw for super long cuts if you ask me. And people who rip a full sheet of plywood on a table saw are both crazy and super-human.
I had bought Bessy F clamps when I first started woodworking. Very good clamps but as time went on and the arthritis in my fingers got worse I had trouble getting them tight. I finally replaced most of them with the Jorgensen clamps because the clamp grips are much easier to use.
Need a kobalt planer and kobalt compressor that come with the 3 nail guns reviews pleaseeee!! Planer is pretty expensive at $500 and the pancake compressor comes with Finish, Brad, and Pin nailer for $200!
I just purchased the WEN Air Filtration System. I had my eye on this one for a little while now, but seeing it here helped push the decision. Should arrive Sunday. Thanks Matt for helping me to take care of my lungs. 😀
Great review! That Skil router looks really nice. Two feedback comments. (1) The Craftsman Sander (and it's sister from DeWalt) uses a dust collection connection that doesn't fit neatly with a Ridgid vacuum. Need a Fenco attachment to make it work seamlessly (and cheaply!!!!). (2), the Kreg rip cut is a little tricky to use because you have to have one hand on the saw and one on the guide, and yes it will can (and probably will at some point) "walk" on you (I know from from experience). It is best used on a big piece of Styrofoam (like they recommend) underneath the material. I have mixed feelings about both of these tools. But! You are my number one guide for "basic affordable tools" and I am so thankful for your review on the Skil Table Saw -- best purchase I ever made. Keep up the good work! This is a great channel and I love your humble approach (1 Pet 5:5-6).
Thank you! Very helpful for me as someone who wants to begin woodworking. Lowe’s is 3 miles from my house. The nearest alternative big box store is over an hour away.
Man I bought that Kreg rip jig to cut down sheet good and every single time I use it finds a new way to make me more inventive with curse words. I found just clamping a straight edge down grants me all the flexibility in any infinite number of sizes and directions I need while maintaining a proper straight cut, while only being slightly more annoying to set up each time. One day I’ll grab a track saw though
Thank you so much for making it so easy for beginners like me to get good tools first time around. I've been watching your reviews and others too and decided to go with Skil for the saws (table, miter and circular) and their router too.
I also have a Wen unit. Works great. The amount of saw dust particles is picks up does help to keep the garage a little cleaner. Planning on adding a 2nd one.
You highlighted almost my entire tool setup haha. I've always been a fan of Craftsman so I'm deep into the V20 platform as well as their other various power tools and storage options. I've loved all the tools and they've served me well. The one tool I'd probably avoid is their newer table saws. I got a Craftsman table saw, more so out of brand loyalty but if I could go back, I'd have picked up Skil or Kobalt instead. I have the Skil router w/router table kit and its amazing, I still want the router combo you featured here. Great video and thank you for continuing to highlight cheaper options for us.
I bought that exact sander, after a few hours of sanding, the whole pad broke off. I ordered a cheap replacement from Amazon, actually 2 replacements, and 6 months later, the 2nd pad is still in its packaging. Maybe I just got a bad pad, or I did something I wasn’t supposed to. I love it now, it is a great sander, even with the hiccup. I grab this way more often than my Bosch, I just like the way it feels in my hand better.
Please do a side-by-side comparison video of the Kobalt TS10602 Table Saw to the DeWalt DWE7491RS (you've previously touted as best contractor table saw) and the Skil TS6307-00 (you've previously touted as the best budget contractor table saw). You can add others if you'd like, but I want to know how you think the Kobalt stacks up against two you've already raved about. It is great to see Kobalt and Craftsman getting some 731 love for a change. Thank you.
Id like to see a full review of the Kobalt table saw. I might just get it. What I would love for you to show is how it can be used while NOT on a bench top, like, free standing. Or if it comes with leg accessories and how light it is to move around the yard if I'm doing projects outside. Also, how easy is the blade change. Thanks!
I would love to see you compare the Kobalt table saw and the Skil table saw that you always recommend. Thank you for the videos, they are a great help in picking tools.
Again iove the help i wish i seen your videos before i thought the more expensive the tools it would last longer found out the hard way, thx for the videos😊
I own all craftsman and dewalt battery tools. For the most part, I can’t tell the difference in performance. I will say, the battery life is much better for dewalt. Great stuff from Stanley B&D
I got all my Dewalt tools from Lowe’s or FBM as well as my Metabo miter saw. I have lots of clamps and odds and ends tools from Lowe’s as well. Growing up, Lowe’s was closer than Home Depot so I always gravitated toward Lowe’s. Now they are about equidistant. I still go to Lowe’s first, but Home Depot is growing on me. Still waiting for a sale on the Ryobi speed bench!!
Some of these tools sure look like the Harbor Freight Hercules series. Would you consider reviewing their products ? (Harbor Freight). We are fortunate to have Home Depot, Lowe's and Harbor Freight in Northern Nevada, each store has their good points. Naw I would’ve gone with the metabo hpt table saw. When it goes on sale u can get it sub $400. Integrated stand and largest rip capacity. It’s been mine for the last two years and love it
You should've got the Kobalt miter saw. It has the bevel on the front, so that you don't have to reach around the blade to bevel it. It's also made by Chervon like the Skill is.
Looks like kobalt improved their tablesaw...I've got one that's several years old on a built in stand that folds.. it still works buth the fence won't hold square and the blade assembly binds up when you raise and lower it
Very nice video. I got that Skil router on sale at woodcraft for less than 100 bucks. I was shocked from the quality. I also have the 8 inch jointer and it gives me the ability to mill my own lumber.
I've been looking for a small benchtop drill press and noticed the Craftsman and Kobalt 10" have better specs than others for the price. I'd like to see a review of one of those.
Thank you for bring us the awesome content my God bless you for helping us new wood works out .could you please do a full review on the wen jointer and thanks to you bc of a review you did on a skil 10in table saw .I now own it and loveing it
I have had one of the older (3 yrs ago) Kobalt jobsite table saws, and I hate it for 2 reasons: horrible fence (not ratchet) and extreme difficulty turning the height adjustment wheel. I have been looking at the DWE7491RS, but it is so much more expensive than the Kobalt saw you list here. I know that a lot of the extra cost is the portable stand, but I would love to see a comparison of the performance of the two saws here if possible. Thanks!
Kobalt has a new bandsaw at Lowe's I wish more people would review. I've been thinking about getting it but there aren't any good reviews up for it yet.
I'd be interested in a full review of the Skil miter saw. I currently have a Milwaukee 10" M18 saw that I've never really loved. Wondering if yhe Skil might be a decent replacement? I'm hoping I can sell my Milwaukee.
I've had issues with the drill bits that come with the Kreg jigs. If I'm drilling a lot of pocket holes, the drill bit will expand, and I can't adjust it for different thicknesses. I've started buying one every few months, especially if I know I've got a project coming up where I'll be using pocket holes.
Hi Matt , I started watching your channel when you where first getting started . I liked your channel and got some good ideas . I see you have members only channel I get it you got to make money. this is not me being troll our hating I'm not member on the other channel . But why not once and while put up on this channel a video of a simple project well thanks
I’ve seen a lot of your comparison review videos but there is one brand I haven’t seen you try out. The Hart tool line that Walmart sells. I have some of their tools and I find them awesome for a beginner but I’m no expert by no means. With that said I would like to get your honest opinion about that line of tools.
I would like a full review of the Kobalt benchtop table saw. I'm very interested in buying one. I'm not a woodworker, just a hobbyist, and for the money, it looks good. What do you think?
Also is there a clamp like the one on the skill miter saw that can be used on other saws . Really hate the standard screw type clamp that comes with most saws
The Kreg jig drill bit collar is a great idea but the tool they give you to tighten it is crap. I rounded the edges on two of them the first time I used them.
Random, but curious: What kind of lighting do you have in your shop? Does it aim up to reflect off of the ceiling? It has a diffused look with minimal shadow lines. Thanks
I have a few different lights. 2 that are video specific and the others are the shop lights I got on Amazon. Shop tour here th-cam.com/video/yW8zr9gKZtk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_WU2qGK0WLl3NJNU
The kreg rip cut does not fit all circular saw's. It will not work on worm drive. I bought awhile back and sold it because the main Saws i use are worm drive.

Never ask for help if you can do it yourself. Even if it means using a fork lift.

I don’t know about affordable but I’m a fan of the Bosch table and miter saws. I purchased at Lowe’s. Both with cords .
I loved the Wen 6” jointer so much I bought the 8” version too. Kept the 6” in case anything ever happens to the 8” but what a great affordable tool
Another plus is that Craftsman Versastack works with DeWalt TSTAK
Nice
I was wondering about that. I noticed the clips look the same.

Craftsman cordless finish nailer. For the price they are excellent. I've had one for 3 years, use it often - 0 issues.
I bought my Skil miter saw from Lowes and am very happy with it. Solid, accurate tool.

Yes to the review on the kobalt table saw! I was looking into the skil table saw as an affordable option, but now I’m curious how they compare.
The jorgensen planes sold at lowes (low angle and the #4 ) are probably the best bang for the buck planes on the market

I have the skill mitter saw and agree 100% with you on it. Nice saw
Very helpful video! By the way, I like your shirt. 👍🏻
Love your content, but I've always heard not to pick up the jointer by the tables. Especially if they have been difficult to get to co-planar.
I've been looking for a small benchtop drill press and noticed the Craftsman and Kobalt 10" have better specs than others for the price. I'd like to see a review of one of those.
Now I'd like some more info on that Kobalt table saw. I have been waiting for the DeWalt 10" table saw to go on sale, but may look at this instead.
Kobalt just released their thickness planer. It would be interesting to see how it stands against the other top planers
Great list Mighty Matt!!
Thank you for bring us the awesome content my God bless you for helping us new wood works out .could you please do a full review on the wen jointer and thanks to you bc of a review you did on a skil 10in table saw .I now own it and loveing it
I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy the Wen jointer. I keep forgetting that I am on a budget and my wife keeps reminding me.
I would like a full review of the Skil miter saw please.
Full review on loyalty table saw please!!
Thanks!
I like my kolbat tablesaw. I got the older version without the rack n pion
I'm hoping I can sell my Milwaukee.
did you trade or still debating?
@@patrickbledsoe2176 I'm still debating. My wife gave me the green light to buy whatever saw I want, so I may try and sell the Milwaukee for a Bosch.
I have the rip cut and I confirm the review. While track saws are better, this works for much less money
OK. Now I need a heads up Kobalt vs Dewalt contractor table saws!
These picks are 🔥!!!
Thanks ,great job !
It's a shame we don't have Lowes over here.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS TABLE SAW AS MY 1ST SAW, I WOULD LOVE YOU TO REVIEW IT.
I never thought of me being a WOODWORKER. I can now say I AM a woodworker. Thanks.😁
I like Lowes for hand tools. Their battery power tool brands other than Dewalt I feel are almost niche brands or I'd be beta testing it...
How about a comparison of the Skil and this table saw? Pretty please?
Hi Matt , I started watching your channel when you where first getting started . I liked your channel and got some good ideas . I see you have members only channel I get it you got to make money. this is not me being troll our hating I'm not member on the other channel . But why not once and while put up on this channel a video of a simple project well thanks
It’s not so much a “challenge” as it’s a very well thought out commercial for Lowe’s.
What do you think?
full review releases later today on my channel.
Lowes sells bosch and I heard about their 12v version of their milwaukee installation driver with interchangeable faces. Ould you review that?
Please do full review on kobalt and skilsaw. Maybe a comparison with dewalt 10 table saw.
Also is there a clamp like the one on the skill miter saw that can be used on other saws . Really hate the standard screw type clamp that comes with most saws
can you do this with home depot too
I’ve been looking at that Wen air cleaner for a while. Think I’ll have to pull the trigger.
Gday from down under.. I would really love your opinion on the HiKOKI AC Table Saw C10RJ(H1Z)
I would like a more in depth review of that Kobalt table saw. I am hoping to get a saw in the next 6 months or so. Such a video would be helpful.
Coming soon...
@@731Woodworks Thanks! Will check them out.
The kreg rip cut does not fit all circular saw's. It will not work on worm drive. I bought awhile back and sold it because the main Saws i use are worm drive.
