While Vice has focused on 'immigrant' outlook, Gaspar the man that he is, has introduced you to the local varieties as well. He is there to stay. Respect.
Really funny they went for a Lithuanian dish Šaltibarščiai on a chef's night out. Lithuanian food is mostly potatoes and fat, and then some more potatoes, maybe, maybe some parsley ... MAYBE. I've eaten at Gaspar's several times and Mr. Fernandes is a thoughtful, attentive chef. The food is an interesting, uncommon mixture of european/indian cuisine. Although you can find this level of quality in NYc easily, in Europe it is rare and usually overpriced. Central Europe is another matter altogether. I can count at least five to ten restaurants that are on par with Gaspar's in their own unique way. Really a good time to visit Vilnius right now.
@@TheBen1303 depends. I'd say SOMM, Džiaugsmas are closest. Few others if you want a less direct comparison, like Lokys or Markus for stakes and game. There are a few hidden gems in the food courts, like Meat Brothers at Panorama (they make the best burger, although they primarily deal in meat), BAO buns (especially the porkbelly one) at Downtown food market. Oishy for non-sushi japanese food. But these are just things i've been to recently.
Only 1 dish was Lithuanian food, and it was Saltibarsciai (that purple soup) but there is many more like cepelinai, kugelis and much more, and its strange that indian guy who live here only for 8 years taking guide of Lithuanian food :) but nice vise anyway!
Nobody , NOBODY in Vilnius would recoment those places only and one by one, I love to see more and more people from all over the world moving in our beautiful Vilnius. But none of those guys can be a guide to represent Vilnius on this amazing channel. Please do one with true local ,please!
Not a great representation of Lithuanian cuisine or food culture here and poor commentary from the host chef. Please try it again Vice with someone else, its a great city.
If this isn't a culture shock I don't know what is, this wonder person is from India, grew up In UK, then moved to France to be with his beautiful wife. 😍
It's actually delicious. The pink color comes from beet roots. In Lithuania Pepto-Bismol doesn't exist but I can see how Americans can look at that soup and see a bowl of Pepto Bismol :D
Glad they're highlighting some restaurants outside of Brooklyn.
exactly what I was thinking lol
😆😆
-_- typical americans, always refusing to look at something different and remain ignorant of others.
There's a whole world that exists outside your mental country
I think it is sponsored by the restaurant. There's #ad in title and description.
This guy really has a nice calm, generous way of expressing himself.
Love it
So much kindness and simplicity in his way. So enjoyable, so soothing.
So glad to see Lithuania on munchies!!!
As an international Student here I'm so honoured. Yeeeii 🇱🇹
Chefs night out has put me on to some of the best restaurants ever. I love the concept, and the people. Keep them coming please.
I love this series. And Munchies: Thank you for extending yourselves outward and taking us along for the ride.
The cab drivers in Vilnius are all like the guy at 3:57
The chef is so calm. What a fun night at that Italian restaurant. Nice to see something in a different country
There’s many episodes in “different” countries though so what do you mean?
While Vice has focused on 'immigrant' outlook, Gaspar the man that he is, has introduced you to the local varieties as well. He is there to stay. Respect.
There have been very few things In life that have brought me as much joy as chefs night out!
Nice to see a munchies episode about the world out side of new york
I wasn’t sure about this group in the beginning, but in true chefs night out fashion they came to life after a few drinks lol.
It's normal in Europe :D
Vilnius is a great place. Would love to visit again
Welcome to Vilnius, glad you got drunk more times then you tasted the original dishes. We do the same thing locally.
Tried after 20:00. Impossible.
@@Leon-159 Well all the bars are open 🍹
I tried to do both at once at Šnekutis. Loved my time in Vilnius, such a charming and dynamic city.
Wow what a refreshing episode! Something different with down to earth people. I love it.
Just visited Lithuania and loved the places featured here, thanks for the recs!

Manifesting, one day. I will have an episode on munchies 🙏💯
knew munchies would eventually come to vilnius! one of the best cities in the world
Looks like a fun night!
Goa is one of the most beautiful places in India, if his culinary background takes any shape from there then you know the food is banging!
Great episode, I’ve always wanted to visit. Was that an elderly Bill Burr on the accordion? 😂
Ya he plays accordion part time when not doing stand up.....Inflation affecting everyone right now😁
Those Curry dishes were plated beautifully
AWESOME. Vilnuis is a beautiful city.
Senior Citizen Bill Burr at 7:20 😂😂😂😂
Did not expect them to come to my country :D AWESOME!

One of my favorite episodes. Makes me want to move to Europe
Insipid at beginning but true to form with a few sips! YES! Another delectable CNO.
I know so little about Lithuania, only engaged w some through a fitness server. exciting to see this!

I wish I can get into wine way much more than I dream to. It's something right up there with Jesus
I love italians

It's a chef's night out. More about the chef and his preferences he just happened to be an Indian chef in Lithuania.
Džiaugsmas now has a Michelin star in 2024
Thought the accordion player was bill burr for a second
PLEASE DO A MONTREAL EPISODE
born in india raised in the u k currently
living in lithuania sounds german

@730……Bill Burr alive & well in the Lithuanian accordion circuit
Schucked oyster, Guinness beer and Tabasco, what's not to love
Not a great representation of Lithuanian cuisine or food culture here and poor commentary from the host chef. Please try it again Vice with someone else, its a great city.
Where's the krupnikoz?
Respectfully, Chef Fernandes needs to find new "friends".
badiya
Bull burr on the accordion
Nice vid but not enough cepelinai and kebabs ngl
Hey so was there broken glass in that champagne?
Thank Christ they are out of that Brooklyn slum
What was this?
Does not look like the Lithuanian food I was brought up on.
Why video called "Lithuanian food"? There was only 1 Lithuanian dish in the video and they didn't even talk about it.
If this isn't a culture shock I don't know what is, this wonder person is from India, grew up In UK, then moved to France to be with his beautiful wife. 😍
*Lithuania
Wow you really went out of your way to find a non Lithuanian making non Lithuanian food. Why even travel to Lithuania in the first place then? Lmao
🍺🍻👍
me and my friend Nicolas need to film our chefs night out in London. This guy is lacking of charisma and passion.
Vilnius in the summertime has the most ridiculous amount of hot girls I've ever seen in my life, even more than Miami. Beautiful city too.
That's nasty that soup looks like Pepto-Bismol
It's actually delicious. The pink color comes from beet roots. In Lithuania Pepto-Bismol doesn't exist but I can see how Americans can look at that soup and see a bowl of Pepto Bismol :D
