- it was time to let a rig go and luckily I found the perfect buyer. Follow along as I get a punch list of items finished up on Louis ViTen. Once the work is done it is time to go have some fun. Four wheeling in north Idaho never disappoints.
For Caleb and Ryans version of the adventure make sure to check there video out as well.

I don't know anyone who sales a truck and then puts a bunch of work in it what a great guy. Beautiful views
I’m a sucker.
You are a stand up dude, Dave.
@@thedirtheadshedNot a sucker. A righteous dude. I want to be on the list when you need to get rid of the next rig Dave! Your attention to detail and precision is so satisfying to those of us that try to do things the same way!
Thank you for building an awesome super duty truck, and taking care of us, this is definitely a trip I won’t forget! I’ll take care of Louis Viten!! I think Matt was genuinely surprised you complimented his hair 😂
Hahah. Stoked you got it. Looking forward to the next round of mods
I literally met Caleb yesterday. Bought a set a wheels from him on Facebook marketplace. I pull in his driveway and thought, I know that truck!!!! That’s Louis Viten. I was like what the heck is Dave doing in Tulsa? Couldn’t have gone to a better guy. Caleb and I talked about you for a while Dave. I told him if someone told me you can meet one TH-cam person I would probably be you. Building a 1 ton tj that you have inspired me to airbag. Hopefully one day I’ll run into you.
That’s awesome. He’s a good dude
What a cool story especially cause you were a subscriber and knew the truck hopefully he wasn't selling you the wheels off Louis vitten there sick wheels but belong on Louis
Friday: two favorite car shows, stay tuned and dirt head shed
Same
Same for me. One of the few channels I give a thumbs up to. I usually never hit that thing.
I really appreciate the support
Dave, I can tell you are you are a great and honest person to buy a vehicle from. Most guys would not have taken the time to do the extras for the sale of their already beast-built vehicle. One of the many reasons we watch.
I appreciate that.
We love the regular schedule! Mondays Puddins Fab & Fridays Dirthead Shed!
Just can't get enough of Matt's old dentside Ford. Cheff's kiss.
It’s such a rad truck
Isn’t that the truck from cheap truck challenge like a decade ago?
You built an awesome truck, glad to see it going to a good home. Money in your pocket means more projects and more content. Makes sense to me!
Glad you are on board !
Im really liking this channel. Want to see more about the 80s f150 ,love those older fords.
It’s such a cool truck
"Stop the Flop" should be a t-shirt! Thanks for the vids! 👍👍
That would be a good one
Maz Grande has absolutely perfect stance... looks so cool, even when just sittin' still 😎
I love it
I passed it going opposite directions on the freeway last Saturday... took about a half second to be like "Hey that's MazGrande" definitely stands out in a sea of homogenous blah freeway fodder.
@@RunninLoZX10 "in a sea of homogenous blah freeway fodder" you sir are a poet👍
@@seans.youtube seeing some of these magazine writer guys parlaying into You Tube gold has me wishing maybe I had gotten into journalism instead of customer service. That said I'm beyond happy to see guys like Dave, Fred, and the Roadkill family find continued success in this medium so I have inspiring content to consume.
Thank you for the ride!! Such beautiful views I never would’ve seen without you. Thank you so much for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it!
That was one of the best test drives I've seen! Sorry to see that rig go, but at least you're keeping Mom's Spaghetti, my favorite of your vehicles.
The spaghetti mobile is awesome
Poor ViTen must feel sick it got replaced by a D-50
LOL, Dave did make the comment, that he needed the money. That D-50 wouldn't have brought 1/3rd of what he got for Louie I'm sure..LOL
Dear Dirthead Dave,
Thanks for sharing the details of working on your stuff. I get a lot out of it. I'll be here every Friday at 2!
Cheers. I appreciate the support
Two hole saws stacked!!! Freakin genius
Got to try it
Why the need for the rubber isolator though? I thought the benefit of the Johnny Joint was its capacity for more misalignment. Did the joint allow for too much articulation before the isolator was added? Just curious.
@@jrlambert7280 He did explain
@@thedirtheadshed maybe a dumb question, but what happens when the trailing arm ‘flops over’ or ‘wobbles’ … why is the ‘wobble stopper’ needed in this setup? I’ve never seen them used before and am curious.
@@jrlambert7280a lot of instances don’t require so much available misalignment. The rear track bar is a perfect example. Flop might just might make some noise, but it could cause some contact issues. When the bar was straight, flop wouldn’t have been an issue. When he changed it to angled, he could have changed one end to a bushing style end, but that would require more time and money. I’m not sure why he did on the trailing arms, but I think all 3 joints attached to each link are parallel, so there’s nothing really holding them from flopping around other than tension when loaded.
Such a good video! Sad to see Louis go, but really happy to see it go to a good home!
Agreed. Caleb will do it justice
2 hole saw trick is genius, slick.
Glad you caught it. Works great
Whoa... didn't see that coming!
Great episode, sir!
I’ve loved following this build Dave! Your tips on welding plate steel to cast were super helpful, as I’ll be doing some of that on my project soon.
The highlight for me was actually passing you cruising in it a few weeks back on my way home from work. It looked amazing in person! Keep up the great work!
That’s awesome. Hope the project turns out good
Flipping the track bar 180 (on one end) and getting the clearance you need was slick idea. Like button energized.
Glad you liked that little trick
Cool trucks, awesome trails, and beautiful views! Idaho, at least in the North and West, is a gorgeous state. I need to go back for another visit. Thanks, Dave!
It is a cool place to explore
Going to miss seeing this truck on the channel, it's been helpful with my own challenges in my 1-ton swap using the same axles. The track-bar work you showed is SUPER helpful. I need some clearance in my front track bar for the same reason but it's 2x.250 and I was going to try and bend it with a HF pipe bender. You just saved me some time, money, + trial and error.
That’s awesome. Have fun with it.
I loved the comment: "Ted don't die." I had a phobia about shelf roads, but I am getting better at it. I know exactly how you must have felt. Keep the videos coming. They are great.
Glad you enjoyed the video and dislike heights
audio is better on the phone i dealt with the weird noise because the video was so good , your the man dave
I’m working to have the audio fixed for the next video
Dirthead shed and VGG all in the same night....just another reason Fridays are great.
Have a great weekend
Well done. I remember when you built that Mazda on Dirt Everyday. I was thinking what the hell is he doing but I get it now. That thing is so cool..
It’s pretty good , right!
That's the most complete road test for an off road vehicle that was ever sold. TDS made sure that the new owner won't be disappointed. As it is, it's ready to tackle almost anything.
He definitely tested it out
Hey Dave 👋 great to see Caleb on your channel were practically neighbors 😀
That’s awesome.
got to admire Dave's thought process .... Sell a truck to a good friend , do the paper-work THEN go wheeling with the truck .. lol
I’m stoked we had time to wheel
Oh you're just outside of Lake Pend Orelle. Love that area. That will be my retirement location in ten more years.
Retirement sounds nice
Dave your one helluva builder.
Oh Louis was just soaking it up.
Didn’t even notice that it’s a big ass truck
That thing handles so well!
THAT was some AWESOME trail riding/ rock crawling country ! !
The foliage was amazing, the views incredible, the trucks worked perfectly, and it looked everyone had a great time ! !
Obviously with the passion you have when building these vehicles, you have 2 great careers and probably more! The great truck builds and the creative view recordings for us to see!
Thank you Dave. Looking forward to the next video.
NC Negative Camber . Mini Truck legends !
Agreed
I daily a dent side ford, in the summer months, i've owned for 20 years. cool to see other people driving them.
Yep. They are getting old now!
Awesome build love all the details always good information.
Thanks. It had a lot of work done
Rad Davester, just re-watched an episode of DED with you and Fred in your shop. By today's standards the shop was almost empty! So maybe it IS time to reduce the fleet.
Keep doing what your doing......totally RAD. Love it.
Yeahs. Some of those episodes where I first built the shop were Empty!
Awesome truck! Can't wait to see it in the future.
Great to see all the little projects getting caught up on Louie, hate to see him go it's been a fun project to watch. that is a sweet puppy, mine don't like the thunder either and fireworks are the worst! thanks for taking us along
Glad you enjoyed the series. It was a good truck. I’ll regret selling it at some point
I liked the way you worked with Bentley on Little Grip Garage. It was inspiring.
Right on. Did he post that video up?
Dave...Wow you've been killing it recently!!
I know you do not want to be 'Pigeon Holed' as the 'Four Link Guy'...but I am seriously glued to the screen, watching you work this suspension magic.
I would have never considered such a project, but you make it look so easy.
Now, I have crazy these thoughts and begin to tell myself thinking, "Well...maybe I could..."
Others are recommending projects...I'd like to encourage you to give your Big Merc some love.
David Freiburger gets you to come his show to do a stupid amount of work...get him to come build a hot engine for the Merc...
(I'll bet his Discovery over-lords won't allow him to 'officially' appear on a TH-cam video)
That last sentence is true
As an Okie I know Louie ViTen will be properly used in NE Oklahoma. Lots of great wheeling, especially Disney!
Yes sir I'm not very far from there myself 😊
Anyone else hearing the buzz
It’s so bad.
@@thedirtheadshed still watched tho sounded like I was too close to my grandparents tv with my cellphone lol
I turned down the sound and just pretended I know what’s going on 🤷♂️
My tinnitis must be drowning it out 😂
Since when is a buzz a bad thing
Just watched the podcast with Grind Hard. Throughout the cast I was thinking of other creator's from my TH-cam history past, MT Roadkill, I was a subscriber in the first month, same for Dirt Every Day... And the same for Seth's Bike Hacks (Berm Peak).... I have been into Off-road, dirt-bikes/dualsport, cars, cycling and electric RC's my whole life. I am 47 now and seem to cycle through these specific hobbies. These hobbies to me, never seem to get old, I just switch my focus from time to time. After my divorce, I got way more into cycling (road and mtb) for several years. I got re-married and built a clapped out 04 GX470 ($7500 invested with vehicle) for "overlanding" and off-road (my daily now)... Currently I am back into 1/10 scale RC crawlers. But all of these things I still love, and are life long hobbies/passion. I think the common theme with these passions is mechanical tinkering and being outdoors. RC is like a driving video game in real life, how can a game compete? I know mechanical sympathy is not good for "clicks" but, my god, I cannot watch Whistling Diesel to save my life... except for the G-Wagon videos. I think that is because I see a G-Wagon as unobtainable... Trashing a totally awesome HiLux from the 90's, not cool, not funny... Using it the way it was intended, damage included... cool. TH-cam has changed to what Google has wanted, an advert platform that has been taken over by corporations (for the most part). But back in the day of the "cool" internet, when Google search was a kick-ass tool, and the algorithm TH-cam used to tailor your feed are long gone. Dave, you made your presence known in the "salad days" of the internet, and you have a fan for life. Seth also has that designation as well.
BTW love the D50 Mini-Truck.... You lucky bastard. In the rust belt always remove the fill plug first... I mentioned that in a different comment earlier and thanks for the response. It may have been under a different user name, but Byron is probably a part of that user name... Cheers! I am raising my last drink of beer to you and those that help you with your excellent content.
Thanks for the kind words! I’m still out here hustling
Celeb's on the edge of the cliff like this is soooo cool and Dave's like F this.🤣
Not my thing!
Always easy to forget to space a piece out when you weld. Thanks for the reminder!
Also, it's super healthy to see someone who can let go of a project vehicle.
Also, didn't necessarily know it was 2pm PT but did know it was Fridays you drop!
Those jack bolts are a good helper
Congratulations on the truck sale. The last part of the video, Mirror Lake looked awesome!!!
Thanks. Yeah that was super cool
Dave’s really gotten so much better on these videos then from the start - really enjoy the channel
Thanks! I’m always learning
So stoked your continuing your success while still doing what you love. In my opinion, you are an impressive fabricator. May God bless you and your family.
Thanks so much. It’s a wild ride. But I’m glad to make it work
Loving the 2pm Friday schedule. TDHS is one of my favorite channels.
The only show I listen to the intro song to.
Hope I kept your attention longer than that!
@thedirtheadshed You did man. Just saying I love the theme song.
So glad you didn't get rid of the maz grande. I love that thing. Also, youtube turned off notifications for your channel for some reason & I know I didnt do that. You're one of my favorite channels!
I keep hearing that. They are trying to hold me back!!
@@thedirtheadshed I don't understand why? Your content is clean, informative & frankly really entertaining. I'll always be a supporter!

I agree with all of that
Keep it going, dude! I look forward to your videos and the weekly schedule is great!
Thanks! Trying to keep up with it
Dude!!! Fun video!!! Thanks!!! New project coming!!!✌️
I love Louis Viten, but I know the feeling of too many projects. Rigs need to be driven!
That is some truly beautiful scenery. You are very lucky to live in such beautiful country.
I agree completely! Cheers
Matt's Green Ford is one of my favorite rigs; it was good to see it. It's always a pleasure to see Mazgrande out and about. It's a bummer to see Louis V10 go, but it looks like the new owners love it.
They are stoked . Make sure to check out Caleb’s video
Mazda Grande looks like an R/C truck and that's awesome.
Bummer to see any of them go, but it has to happen for the others to keep going. It's an awesome truck and look forward to seeing what is done to it.
Looks like a lot of fun and Mazgrande is giving me Tim Hardy vibes, his Samurai was legit and miss seeing it on UA.
I miss Tim too
I really really enjoy your videos! You mention having the videos be in a schedule. I love that I can look forward to your videos each Friday! Keep up the kick @$& work!
Thanks so much. Trying to keep the schedule. It’s a hustle
@@thedirtheadshed You’re doing a fantastic job bud!
Thanks!
I can remember when Denver Creek wasn't even passible. Myself and 3 other guys are the ones who originally started opening that trail. Broke 3 rigs in the first half mile of trying to run it. Now it's more highway than trail. It looks like you went in the bottom of Roller Coaster. I usually come in from the top and turn around in that big opening to go back up. BTW, be careful going up the road right next to the house where roller coaster easement goes in. The guy bought that land and is trying to close the easment, but is getting resistance from the courts. He's made threats about catching people on his land. North Idaho Trailblazers actually had to hire a lawyer at one point because of the logging road easement. Great episode! Sorry you had to sell your truck!
I’m pretty hip on all the legal stuff at the bottom there. We actually just took west fork all the way up.
Dave, remind everyone to check their subscription to the channel. I keep getting randomly unsubscribed. It’s ridiculous
That’s crazy . I’ve heard it a few times
Just happened to me as well!
This is the first channel that I have been randomly unsubscribed from. It has now happened twice. Strange.
It didn't unsubscribe me, but turned off all notifications for the channel & I know I didn't do that.
Thanks for the heads up.I just realized I was unsubscribed
Great episode! Nice to see Hazel!!! Those vistas are stunning!!! Great shooting!
48:53 Dave, you are such an awesome dude. Not only giving a compliment to another guy, but doing it on your TH-cam channel.
Sad to see Louis go, but life is full of choices. Some are not easy.
Thanks. I’m stoked to see what Caleb comes up with next
Yeah, im always looking forward to friday afternoon when the dirthead shed vid drops.
Awesome views from top of those mountains! That is worth the work you guys put in.
It blows me away
Very nice welding! Beautiful work!
Yeah, stoked for a new episode. My vote is for more Mustang II episodes!!!
Also “project” in the video title is misspelled. Just FYI.
Thanks for the heads up
Yes more and keep the mini truck content coming as well plz 👍🏻

Hey Dave you built a solid rig and it's great someone else will get to enjoy it. Your a very talented builder. So I'm excited about the new UA. I think I am going to apply for the first time. Wish me luck!
Good luck! I’m excited to see what the new trip will be like

Sad to see it go but there's only so much room. It's a really cool truck though. That trail looks sweet, too!
Wow that was some amazing scenery I'm from tulsa too so I know how them guys were in ahh over that view
Glad it looked good on camera. Hard to tell if it shows
That was an awesome trail run. I even had a bit of pucker factor going on a bit of that last trail. Nothing like looking out of your window to air and a drop of about two thousand feet to the bottom of that gorge.
Beautiful country only begins to describe the scenery.
It is amazing. Really hard to capture the depth and color through a camera
@@thedirtheadshed I first notice that fact about filming when I went diving in the ocean. The colors so vibrant underwater.
I think I need to become friends with Dave so I can buy one of his cool trucks next time he sells one.
It’s hard finding the right buyer
@@thedirtheadshed Yeah, how do you even sell something like Louis ViTen?

I think that one will stick around a while. It’s a great rig
I believe it!

Yeah. It was fun. But it wasn’t grabbing my attention
I kept thinking Pewe was next to Dave lol.
It’s his long lost twin

Im ready to see that little 2-door suv you just bought to get some love. Thats a neat little thing
Got to make some room in the shop!
Great idea and work on that rear swingarm (?) with cutting it and welding it back together with the plug welds on that brace on the inside. Smart stuff! Those cutouts were rad too and look damn good.
Watched your interview on "Send and Bend" yesterday btw! You should ABSOLUTELY do a retrospective series on D.E.D.! I was thinking do it something like" Mystery Theatre 3000" back in the day? Pink Bigfoot should be sitting beside you in that theatre talking about it 🤣🤣🤣

Im sad to see Louis go, but I understand why you sold it. I'm loving your content dave!
Sorry to see it go but glad it went to a good home. If you ever come to visit, head a few more hours east to the Ozark-St Francis national Forest for some wheeling. Lots of varied terrain, more mud than rock crawling but a good day trip.
Right on . I’m not too big on the mud
Appreciate the reply. If you're not into mud, also 2 hrs east of Tulsa is, don't laugh, "[one of] the [self proclaimed] mountain biking capital of the world" (Bentonville, Arkansas).
I sense you're a MTB aficionado, and Bentonville has a few hundred miles of decent single track, a few terrain parks, etc. Sort of a ski town for mountain bikes.
I'm not saying it's Park City or Pisgah good, but if you're in Tulsa anyway, it's worth the day trip.
Cheers!
First of many things Dave will be getting rid of! Family comes first! If mama ain’t happy no one is happy! Dave’s LOVE is off roading!🤔
