I was wondering if you would know the heat range of an axle right where you was taking the pictures I saw the bad one was 83 degrees In two or three blocks one side I can put my hands on the axle after a mile or so the other I can't
What about play in and out? Mine are fine up down left and right but in and out im able to move the whole wheel a quarter inch in and out with it jacked up..
Did you find a solution? I was changing my brakes and noticed the bearing axle moves in and out a little bit but not sure if that's normal or not. Can't find a video about this problem.
It depends how much in and out the only thing holding those axles in is a c clip thats about 3/8s thick thats nestled in the spider gear thats held back by a center pin, if theres too much in and out play the c clip will fall out and your axle will go go gadget into oncoming traffic. Sometimes the center pin wears an oval shaped hole in the dif and the slops enough to cause the axle to move, the spider can wear from friction and create play but there will always be a little in and out play
Just replaced with a new bearing on right rear and still has play up and down bad, second time replacing it, starting to think my axle was shaved down in diameter
I just wanted to throw a comment out there. What you are looking at is radial play, and I was measuring this on my 04 f150 past year with a dial indicator it was around .010" of play.. a brand new bearing had the same amount of play so I opted not to change them. So your video I would agree the driver's side is ok, but the passenger side bearing is toast.
And cant spin it by hand in neutral? Only by starting the engine , on stands, and placing in drive. Accelerate to about 3000 rpm. Left little louder and some vibration i. Bed. Normally hear it on interstate at 75 or 80 mph, quits when you release accelerator.
After an hour on the road
Both sides of running about
130 ° to 140°
I wonder if that's too hot
Did you get any vibration from it? I have a 2002 f150 that I have a vibration from 58-75 mph

@@joepetoletti6984 I'm just gonna hope its normal. Its very minimal play.
I have the same 1/4 in and out play.
Yes that is the amount of play mine has on both sides it’s the same so I believe it’s normal.

Im having same issue. Did you replace the shaft? If so did it fix the problem?
@@rustynutz8704 yup, sorry for late reply you probably figured it out by now but yeah axle was shaved down like 1/8 all around.
