Rank structure is different in sf6 compared to sfv (if that's why you're asking) and it features bonuses up to gold, so, it's even harder to compare to other games. In the middle of the distribution curve it's similar to OW in a way, for example, in sf6 plat 1 is top ~44%. This is comparable to OW's low plat if I remember correctly (I haven't played in a while) and completely different from sfv (where low plat was around top 9%). Due to those specific bonuses and a derank system sf6 uses, plat 1 is also the most populated rank after master. Least populated being rookie. Plat 1 isn't exactly high rank generally speaking (as it's similar to ow's plat floor), but contextually it's an impressive milestone for a beginner like Eskay.
@@doolioart3314 ive actually never played SF, i just like eskay content. i asked because the original title for the video was "low rank street fighter is hilarious" this might be a hot take, but it doesnt matter where most/the average players rank is, a quick google search tells me that plat is two under master which is the highest rank. So objectively plat is not low rank. Its just kind of annoying to me when people say stuff like gold(or sometimes higher) rank players are children and dont understand anything about the game or else theyd be a respectable rank, this is really big in the overwatch community. anyway sorry for the rant, just touched a nerve

Percentages are very important, imagine if master rank had 90% of players in it, meaning diamond would have been bottom 10%. It wouldn't matter that diamond is the second highest rank. That's why I said that it's hard to compare between games because they have different distributions. Silver in sfv was top 25%. So, regardless of the fact that there are more ranks above it than below it, placing silver in sfv would be better than placing platinum in overwatch, respectively. You can fill the rank chart with as many "stops" as you can, but percentages help you see where you are, not ranks, especially if the distribution is wonky. That's what I meant. As for your input on what people say about gold players... I have no idea why would you write that to me. "respectable rank"? There's no such thing, people land where they should and progress (or stagnate) from there. If ranks adequately reflect skill in some game, then you definitely can discuss how much players of which rank understand the game. As for the children comment, again, it's a weird thing to say.
