nah fighting games are toxic too. theyre just nice to new players or people who are bad at the game lol. as soon as you get good its honestly way worse than overwatch lol. the pvz community does seem really friendly from what I've seen though. honestly I think more so than fighting games single player games probably the least toxic since theres no reason to hate on each other.
I don’t talk in game at all since people just respond with rude comments. Or if I try to communicate with my team about what we should do, people don’t listen or just call me a slur.
Eskay it's been so fun to watch you play Tekken! My gf and I are both cheering for you and you have done some CRAZY stuff! It's been so fun to watch the Sajam Slam!
I friend request everyone who says mean stuff and then message them “nice” to everything they say. And then like two months later, I message them and ask if their days have gotten any better, pookie? They love that
Somehow, this season is the most amount of IRL friends I have that play OW2, but this game and the queues haven't been more dead in a while unfortunately 😔
As someone who plays support more than tank now, I've been seeing a lot of Mercy/Moira players who are too stubborn & afraid to try out a hero that uses the smallest amount of aim that'll help out their team. My aim is dogshit & I'm almost always playing Bap/Kiri/Ana
I started playing six siege and I remember the first person teaching me how to play the game was a random player who was a girl and she taught me how to play. She would frag while I droned for her and gather intel, and it was so fun. And around 2017 and 2018 the games were mostly chill or fun. There were more normal decent people back then (imo siege atleast). Even lower ranks were highly competitive. Only thing mattered was strategising and executing ur plans. And suddenly everything changed late 2019.
The thing about the vibe check is sooo true especially in valorant, people be throwing slurs at you just for being a woman before the game even starts. In comp I used to only comm when i was top frag and even then people would be so horrible 😭
‘I’ve always wanted to be called a cheater’ Honestly, in my experience, the worse you are at the game the more likely you are to be called a cheater. I’m absolute garbage at games like Overwatch and Valorant, but the amount of times I’ve been seriously called a cheater cause I do good for a little bit is insane. So to almost never be called a cheater is actually the real testament of how good you are.
As an avid fighting game player since 1993, the FGC is a community of the most welcoming ppl when you're a newbie. What it takes to get semi proficient at fighting games is so difficult, any of us will literally hand walk you through several situations. Once you become decent, expect to see a different side lol
I think it's any competitive activity in general where people's emotions are heightened. You see that same kind of aggression and trash talk in pick up basketball games as well. What makes it worse for online gaming is that it's over the internet, where the anonymity and physical disconnect makes everyone an even worse version of themselves. In addition, a lot of gamers are younger and less emotionally mature, with the main demographic being late teens/early twenties. I know a lot of people are thick skinned and couldn't care less when it comes to online abuse, but that kind of thing bothers me too much. It kills my enjoyment of the game and sours my mood, to the point where I avoid certain games because of it.
It really is the players. The community has always been toxic but it’s just been getting worse. First time I talked in game chat a year ago I got told “why aren’t you in the kitchen, make me a sandwich” they claimed to just be joking around but, at least come up with something creative 💀. It’s more annoying than insulting. If ow players find out you’re a girl they will put you down for it and blame you. If you make one mistake they will focus on that one play and try to put you down and flame you. When you are being toxic, blaming/screaming at teammates, your teammates won’t want to help you. When you are nice, give actual advice that helps, your teammates want to help you more. Why is that so hard to understand.
Positive atmosphere does wonders. If the main call outer keeps up good spirits your chance of winning increases. Also lol yeah, the basic if a guy does a mistake it's just an individual mistake but if a girl does a mistake it's an inherent flaw. So biased.
It's mostly why I just don't play comp anymore. It's always with the insults and people thinking the game revolves around them rather than a team of five people. I'm not a girl so I won't pretend to know what that's like, but everyone does experience toxicity somewhat!
The only recent game I've played where people were friendly was Unreal Championship. I starting playing super late in its life cycle and the player base was dying, so experienced people would be extra nice to new players and tell them to keep trying and don't give up ;_;
6:03 ah yes, the classic transfem problem. I am dehydrated 100% of the time. I can drink like 30 ounces of water and still be very dehydrated. Looking and feeling my best had to have *some* downside, I guess.
I do think the overwatch playerbase is stupid and unnecessary hostile, but I can't honestly say the devs don't help creat a chill playing environment either, people don't play arcade, you can't play what you want in QP, the only "healthy" place is comp because I expected higher expectations in comp
I wish i could VC in OW but my mental illnesses make it impossible to cope with all the assholes. Being trans with a voice that doesnt pass makes it 100x worse too. It sucks cuz i probably could climb because i think i have good calls
One of the main reasons I don't play FPS games tbh, voice chat is a lose-lose. Either my voice isgood one day and I experience misogyny/transmisogyny, or I'm crusty and everyone thinks I'm a boy, and regardless, there's gonna be toxic/tilting chatters either way. Really wish this wasn't such an issue, team FPS games are so cool on paper or played w friends.
for me, i only got access to that kind of wholesome community with motorcycle racing irl. never see that shit in any online competitive game i ahd to touch grass
Same thing happenes to me as a girl in Valorant. I just dont open voice and act like i am a dude. Whenever they learn i am a girl i know so well that they dont go outside to see one girl in their life, so i flirt with them knowing they will fall for it lmoa (they do.)
Finally it's getting back at streamers that they've been ignoring the biggest issue in ow2 for the entire time: the fact that there are no community features. They made the game actively worse to fight toxicity but the reality is, that you can't find any players to play with, people with rhe same mentality, there is no flow of information in ow so everyone stays bad, and the more casual players are not staying when there is no new content in between seasin starts. OW is supposed to be the game with the most team play, yet they try everything to not have people communicate with each other. I hate that eskay has no fun but it's kinda deserved for streamers ignoring this issue for they are usually not affected by it
I’ve just been replying an answer for every mistake when ppl flame me. If I fuck up my blade or misplay I explain why when they start sooking. After they get their reason they tend to shut up and not reply after that
I know this might sound a bit odd but when she was talking about nice comp community my mind kind of went to Fortnite as although the community as a whole is terrible the specific comp community is actually pretty damn nice. So i was pretty surprised when she brought it up and said they'd all been mean to her but with any game really it does depend on who your playing with as there's always good and bad people sadly.
Im a guy but i used to talk to a guy that tought i was a girl because i love playing support and i main kiri, he said if i played lucio he would think i was a guy, lol
Nah, most games rn is full of toxic people, it's ridiculous. Best thing to do is turn of everything or play single player games, it's not worth, people don't have fun in games anymore.
Not surprising since a lot of gamers are sweaty outcast teenage boys whose diet is 90% chips and energy drinks and they have no hobbies outside of gaming. I'd go insane too.
I dont have a mic anymore so im one of the players who cant talk but even if i did i wouldnt cause ive been told countless times shut ur mic off or be quiet its insane
True, making qp sweatier, making an atrocious balancing only makes people even more mad, I can play hots, lol, paladins with any character I want, if I do good, no one talks shit, in overwatch if I pick genji and die to a hard counter at the first minutes, I should uninstall and kill myself
Fighting Games is like a whole different world in terms of community, it's so great. I've only been flamed twice in 400 hours of Guilty Gear Strive, but a bunch of people have told me positive, encouraging stuff. I regularly ask for advice after games and people are willing to give real help. I can't even imagine asking for advice after an OW match, it would be so toxic and unhelpful.
A game that's not really a competitive game is deep rock galactic and ive spent over 30 hours and only found one toxic person and all they did was call me stupid for dying
true story that happened yesterday: random genji player: “yo i don’t mean to be rude by this but are you gay” me: “yeah” the genji: “you’re cracked at zarya holy fuck” huge surprise but gay guys can play people other than ana or mercy like hello
Tank is just horrible lmao. As a masters tank player it is a horrid existence. You fluctuate between ranks based on your supports, and get blamed for every loss. 😅
This is why I only play in groups or just don’t join team chat, and even if I don’t join voice chat I get trash talked in text chat even though our junk rat is 4 12 and I’m 21 3 :/
I'm a flex because I get bored easily, but at the start I played a lot of support because almost no one wanted to pick a support. It's not that I didn't want to play other roles but I also didn't want to make our team lose.
Competitive games (especially FPS games) have always been toxic (See: Xbox Call of Duty lobbies, lmao) just due to being adrenaline-rush games that get your emotions flowing But I think they've been *especially* toxic nowadays because of how Gamers act when it comes to their games, just looking at posts on Twitter or the general type of content that gets pushed out for a variety of games (cough cough Minecraft & Overwatch), it just creates a massive culture of negativity, and that negativity is carried over into the gameplay While the players are the problem, the root of *that* problem is the content that surrounds the game. When there's a TON of negative content that's focused on a game, you end up with the general perception of the game being negative and it gets tiring fast, especially if you *know* the game isn't awful. It's hard to be positive when you're surrounded by negativity, and that ends up subconsciously transferring into player mindset when people play, thus you get people who never confront that they could be the issue at hand (Or they just don't think about what's actually happening)
"why is my dps player a girl"
"why is my tank a girl"

"Why is my teammate a girl"
And of course they don't question a female support.

@@leatherhidegaming no they just say that you're bad at support, woman never win when the bigots queue
Statistically shittier players are more toxic to female gamers so being mad at a teammate just cuz it's a girl is a skill issue

nah fighting games are toxic too. theyre just nice to new players or people who are bad at the game lol. as soon as you get good its honestly way worse than overwatch lol. the pvz community does seem really friendly from what I've seen though. honestly I think more so than fighting games single player games probably the least toxic since theres no reason to hate on each other.
@ironman1458 Yeah PVZ community is pretty nice, but just like any community, the art is... questionable
If someone told me that girls can only play support, I swear I would do everything just to be top 1 dps just to contradict them haha
I friend request everyone who says mean stuff and then message them “nice” to everything they say. And then like two months later, I message them and ask if their days have gotten any better, pookie? They love that
that takes some dedication, considering the sheer number of trashtalkers in ow
Dude tbh people say shit in the moment chances are they forget about it within an hour and are cool with you the next day
ESKAY I LOVE YOU YOU ARE SO SIGMA
erm what the sigma
Somehow, this season is the most amount of IRL friends I have that play OW2, but this game and the queues haven't been more dead in a while unfortunately 😔
As someone who plays support more than tank now, I've been seeing a lot of Mercy/Moira players who are too stubborn & afraid to try out a hero that uses the smallest amount of aim that'll help out their team.
My aim is dogshit & I'm almost always playing Bap/Kiri/Ana
Oh yeah my aim used to be terrible before I practiced kiri a bunch. Former Ana/mercy back in the day
I started playing six siege and I remember the first person teaching me how to play the game was a random player who was a girl and she taught me how to play.
‘I’ve always wanted to be called a cheater’
Honestly, in my experience, the worse you are at the game the more likely you are to be called a cheater.
I’m absolute garbage at games like Overwatch and Valorant, but the amount of times I’ve been seriously called a cheater cause I do good for a little bit is insane.
So to almost never be called a cheater is actually the real testament of how good you are.
Mace truly the master of baiting
It kills my enjoyment of the game and sours my mood, to the point where I avoid certain games because of it.
sup great job on the sajam slam yesterday!
So biased.
the energy from gamers is sometimes "girls are icky"
I wish they were more like girls who don't care about gender but only focus on the game
I just watched the end of the sajam slam and all I want to say I love you and I hope you keep playing Tekken
Eskay: "I get flamed...especially as tank"
You're not unique there, Eskay...every tank gets flamed. This game encourages tank flame
It's mostly why I just don't play comp anymore. It's always with the insults and people thinking the game revolves around them rather than a team of five people. I'm not a girl so I won't pretend to know what that's like, but everyone does experience toxicity somewhat!
Yeah it sucks that some people take the game so seriously they have to be nasty to others. I'd rather take the normal trashtalk than sexism though.
team games are so much fun, I love working together, shame these kinds of games make me lose hope for the average human being
Have the nicest, relaxing vacation, gurl ❤
"swap off sig"
"i don't play bap"
incredible hypocrisy
I wouldn't call being toxic being ruthless, its being an asshole. Calling it ruthless makes it seem acceptable when its not.
The only recent game I've played where people were friendly was Unreal Championship. I starting playing super late in its life cycle and the player base was dying, so experienced people would be extra nice to new players and tell them to keep trying and don't give up ;_;
I love essay overwatch
3:10 hero of the storm was wholesome thier of course was the odd badmouth player but were.
6:03 ah yes, the classic transfem problem. I am dehydrated 100% of the time. I can drink like 30 ounces of water and still be very dehydrated. Looking and feeling my best had to have *some* downside, I guess.
Eskay you’re one of my favorite OW2 players! You’re awesome girl keep it up 💜
I do think the overwatch playerbase is stupid and unnecessary hostile, but I can't honestly say the devs don't help creat a chill playing environment either, people don't play arcade, you can't play what you want in QP, the only "healthy" place is comp because I expected higher expectations in comp
streamer users streamer mode, discovers average Overwatch experience
The Tekken people are kind cos we are just happy some people wanna learn the game Q.Q
Yeah my favorite part of Overwatch is being afraid to comm with my team cus they might threaten to kill or r*pe me. I miss OW1’s community :(
Messed up people. Does the reporting system do anything.
I wish i could VC in OW but my mental illnesses make it impossible to cope with all the assholes. Being trans with a voice that doesnt pass makes it 100x worse too. It sucks cuz i probably could climb because i think i have good calls
Y’all one time someone thought I was AI
I’m watching this dude react to you 5v1 with Lucio and I get they Bronze players but I had to come sub that was crazy movement
the only game where ive seen a wholesome competetive scene is osu LMFAOOOO
Awww true
WAIT NOBODY TALKS FOR U TOO I thought it was just meeeee
I hate people like that who think females can only do support I’m a male and I main mercy and pockets my bsf who’s a female
I love the Jirachi plush
“Why is my dps a girl”
As a female Kiriko otp, give me widow/tracer and I’ll show you why my winrate sits at 60%+ on both of them
Love that attitude
@@kitcat2449 and I’ll do it while looking pretty😤😹
top 1 funniest tweet in ow history
One of the main reasons I don't play FPS games tbh, voice chat is a lose-lose. Either my voice isgood one day and I experience misogyny/transmisogyny, or I'm crusty and everyone thinks I'm a boy, and regardless, there's gonna be toxic/tilting chatters either way. Really wish this wasn't such an issue, team FPS games are so cool on paper or played w friends.
honestly i love when people are sexist to me bc ik my voice passes :3
This video did feel like a humblebrag.
Love season 4 of Diablo 4. Would totally watch you play it.
I would talk in games but I got muted for 2 weeks for pretty much nothing lmao
1:40 THIS. When people flame but aren’t even right about flaming. Literally the worst.
for me, i only got access to that kind of wholesome community with motorcycle racing irl. never see that shit in any online competitive game i ahd to touch grass
yeah why dont people talk in OW2? just started again and noticed there are no comms in silver where i got placed for dps lucio/moira
After they get their reason they tend to shut up and not reply after that
Want to play overwatch
@@lds8257 yes
I FEEL THE SAME WAY WITH THE FLAME
An overwatch killer would be paladins 2 if that ever happens.
I know your editor is a fighting game player. The sun was in my eyes my hands were cold my dog ate my controller
Eskay’s been playing Tekken???
Editor can we please get some videos of that? That’s hype!!!
That's the environment blizzard made lol
True, making qp sweatier, making an atrocious balancing only makes people even more mad, I can play hots, lol, paladins with any character I want, if I do good, no one talks shit, in overwatch if I pick genji and die to a hard counter at the first minutes, I should uninstall and kill myself
jeeze. the ana on the last game didnt die once O.o wth
I play valo once a month in JP servers, you can meet cute girls with vc on thete and everyone at least pretends to be nice
Yoooooo 05:20 was crazy
A game that's not really a competitive game is deep rock galactic and ive spent over 30 hours and only found one toxic person and all they did was call me stupid for dying
boothill theme go!
true story that happened yesterday:
random genji player: “yo i don’t mean to be rude by this but are you gay”
me: “yeah”
the genji: “you’re cracked at zarya holy fuck”
huge surprise but gay guys can play people other than ana or mercy like hello
eskay your voice is so prettyyyyyyy i want a voice like yours so bad
tgirl power :)
🧢
Those voice cracks are pretty bad but I guess that is par for the course.
Tank is just horrible lmao. As a masters tank player it is a horrid existence. You fluctuate between ranks based on your supports, and get blamed for every loss. 😅
eskay gaming
This is why I only play in groups or just don’t join team chat, and even if I don’t join voice chat I get trash talked in text chat even though our junk rat is 4 12 and I’m 21 3 :/
someone says girl only play support... crap and weak excuse they can develop in any role or even flex
I'm a flex because I get bored easily, but at the start I played a lot of support because almost no one wanted to pick a support. It's not that I didn't want to play other roles but I also didn't want to make our team lose.
Competitive games (especially FPS games) have always been toxic (See: Xbox Call of Duty lobbies, lmao) just due to being adrenaline-rush games that get your emotions flowing
But I think they've been *especially* toxic nowadays because of how Gamers act when it comes to their games, just looking at posts on Twitter or the general type of content that gets pushed out for a variety of games (cough cough Minecraft & Overwatch), it just creates a massive culture of negativity, and that negativity is carried over into the gameplay
While the players are the problem, the root of *that* problem is the content that surrounds the game.
Only team based game where I never seen a crumb of toxicity was Deep rock galactic. Except for scout players. They deserve every drop of spite.
11:59 That was disgusting
Jirachi facecam 😮
superior Pokémon :3
eskay thank u for helping me get to mr
