    To detect a current draw you need to install a Smart Shunt or connect a small load into the MPPT directly.

      Most likely I'll put the monitor shunt in. I love the one I have, and everything at a glance is so convenient. 🤙

      Empasis on small load, do not run the inerter on the load port, it can take only 15 amps so a bit over 300 watt. Current setup, no pun intended, is fine, running inverter directly from battery, as long as it has low voltage cut off

    I’ve owned that same controller installed in my RV for 5 years. I was actually using it for two months running my house until I received my big stuff a few weeks back. Like it so much I bought a 250/70. The Bluetooth on mine works better then my 30 amp charger and my smart shunt.

    I have a couple Victron 100/30 MPPT's. The two sections show the voltage and amperage before and after the Victron. "Solar" shows what your solar panels are producing and the "battery" section shows what the mppt converts the solar into. Ex: Solar: 18v @ 5amps Battery: 13v @ 6.92amps. Both are equal to 90 watts. Hope this helps! Great Video!

    that a great charge controller. there is a Victron current shunt to go with that. goes on neg lead . What I like with Victron is the Bluetooth is made to work together on the same app. you can put small loads like 12V RV lights on the load terminal and from app you can make them turn off with low battery . I know one of them can be set dusk to dawn on load terminal. love how they pre set for LiFePO4 battery.

      @ProjectsinParadise808  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Should have it up and running in a few days. Not sure I'll really need the shunt, but might be nice to have. The pre-set for lithium is great. Still fine tuning the epevers , but they are humming along nicely now. Wanted a Victron for a long time, and this seemed perfect size for application. aloha 🤙

      @@ProjectsinParadise808 only if you need to measure current in/out battery. you can get a outher meter like you got to have battery percentage and state of charge .

    The charge controller has no idea that the battery has an inverter connected to it. You need a power meter with a shunt to do that. Victron makes one if you like their stuff.

    • @ProjectsinParadise808
      @ProjectsinParadise808  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't think I'm going to use a shunt on this small application, but we'll see how it goes🤙

    • @BillySBC
      @BillySBC 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Suppose you have no inverter connected to the battery but instead have a DC device like a mini fridge hooked to the battery, will the charge controller show watts consumed or will it require a monitor and shunt to do that also?

    • @sNEAKYnIGHTmUPPET
      @sNEAKYnIGHTmUPPET 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BillySBC a shunt measure current that goes through it. A smart shunt keeps track of current in and out to keep track of how much power is left in the battery. That’s all

    Need a shunt to see the load draw unless you hook the inverter to the load side of the charger

    • @BillySBC
      @BillySBC 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you hook the inverter to the load side of the controller won't the draw be from the solar panel and not the charging battery?

  • @car2069
    @car2069 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    It would show a draw on the battery if your load was hooked to load on the controller. But nothing is. The current reading youre looking at is for the charger. With no solar it would be 0. It will never show the interter load.

  • @jauho7483
    @jauho7483 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If I want to use the load output, can I connect negative wire from my load directly to battery negative rail, or do I need to connect it back to the controller? I bought this to my boat and I would like to keep things simple and not to have 2 separate negative rails (one from battery and one from load terminal)

    At 5:18 minutes on the video you say "it shows no current coming off of it." It's not possible for the controller to show a current when there's no current flowing through it, which clearly there is not.

  • @wuhnuh
    @wuhnuh 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hahahahaha this is funny
    It’s only just measuring battery voltage now and no current. Because the battery is feeding the load. Not the controller 😂😂😂😂
    But nice to see the blue screen.
    Bye from the Netherlands, where Victron comes from 😄

    I have the same Victron controller. I really like it's robustness, & customisation, especially for the various lithium battery types (eg. Li-Ion, Li-P04, etc.).
    The software could use some tweaking. Using my Huawei P9 Lite phone, via bluetooth. I cannot stand in my lounge, only some 3.5 metres, from the unit, when setup (it is a portable system, connected to a DIY folding 100W panel). It may be a limitation, of my phone. Unsure, at the moment. However, one limitation I don't like, is the phone has to have the app open! You cannot run the app, in the background! It disconnects instantly. Crazy lack of foresight, by the devs.
    Solid videos, as I'm looking to a similar inverter (possibly 1500W), for a DIY solar generator, I'm building. Thx.

      I love the Victron charger I have, although I don't have to use it much . The charge controller I'm setting up now in a small stand alone system, and I'm sure ill like it...just the charging parameters alone for me is perfect. Haven't played with the app too much , but will in next few days. Like hearing critique of it, and thank's for tuning in...aloha 🤙

    Hi PIP808, did you install a fuse from the battery to the solar controller ? I am confused by the manual that states that a fuse should be used from battery to controller. Wondering what you did.

    That thing cannot dictate power draw because its connected to the battery directly. It can only dictate load that passes through its load teminals only. For loads connected to the battery you need a shunt.
