- HPI Savage XL Octane with reverse modul. In the Video the Engien is rich. After leaning, it did a top speed of 56 Kmh with 44/14 pinion. (Stock is 47/14 pinion)
He had over 10 tanks of fuel.

Can you put an octane engine on a nitro savage x I'm wanting to do that to mine but I'm curious if I can convert it it already has a reverse module in it but it needs a new radio because Duracell batteries ruined it and how did you get neutral in the transmission is there a radio that can give me that I'm definitely curious if I can upgrade my savage

This is a complete car. Not like other Nitro craps where the only thing you can do is to go in one direction. Fucking waste. This savage looks sexy af.

Hi what 2t oil are you using and did you start off from the hpi update needle settings? Since ive adjusted my shift points when the car hits second gear it lean bogs and cuts out baring in mind the needles are still at factory settings.
Your octane seems to be running good.
Any tips or advice you can give me on how you got yours to run well

servus, im using "OMV Bixxol motorbike 2T-M" oil. The factory Settings High-Speed needle: 1 ture out and Low-Speed needle: 1 and 7/12 turns out. After that turn the three-speed Transmission back to factory Settings. 2. gear is 7 turns out and 3. gear is 6 turns out. And then check the Glow plug, if its black, clean it. After that drive 3min so the engien gets warm.
First adjust the 3 Speed gear that it shifts earlier and then tune the car. U should only tune the High-speed needle never turn the low-speed. And then adjust the 3 Speed gear so it shifts nice.

Thanks for your reply if i start my car from the factory settings as you mensioned my car seems to cut out after its hit second gear it does that lean bog as if its running abit lean ive had to richen the lsn abit thats what the tech said to do at hpi aswell it just seems abit strange why it does it from factory settings and it only started doing it after i broke it in and adjusted the shift points ( hitting 2nd) Every engines different i know ill get there in the end i hope. Ive been running motul 800 fully synthetic since just after breakin im on my 15th tank now ive got some maxima 927 castor oil i want to try out is it a simple case of mixing a fresh batch of oil with the maxima and put it into the tank and starting it? Im just abit concerned going from fully synthetic to a castor based oil? Does your octane have neutral it seems like you can rev it alot higher at a stand still.- james

2nd gear 7 turns back from fully closed
3rd gear 6 turns back from fully closed

I'm first time buyer in 1/8 scale gas rc trucks what would you recommend hpi savage or the losi xxl gas truck?
losi xxl, it's a better build quality and look way better. i own the Savage xl nitro but i have some pro's and con's. HPI is a really good company.
I've been driving for 5 years HPI and Traxxas. I never had a Losi, but yea losi has good Quality. I like HPI more because the spare parts are cheaper and I got the Savage XL, FLUX, X4.6 which are almost all created equal.
i did this mod to my savage, it wont wheelie anymore with it sadly.... the change in gearing adds more resistance to the clutch and it slips in the bell, this mod is only good for flat smooth ground, once it sees a hill, it will take a shit and the clutch will slip and heat up, it has to be forward only to be any fun sadly. Cool mod, but not practical for me.

Whats the reverse module number?
Its the normal revers modul for Savage. I took the modul out of my Savage XL and it fits perfectly in the gearbox of the octane but to use the modul i had to cut out some plastic to get some space for the servo arm and then build a way from modul to the servo. The modul which i got is number #87032 without mixer.

I need help.
I have a Savage XL Octane and I can not finish the bind it. During the process the radio communicates a good with the receiver doing all the commands, I turn off both the radio and the receiver to end the procedure but when I turn again do not get results. What can I be doing wrong? My receiver 30 is an RF-HPI.

I use a 3 channel remote control from the company SANWA MT-4.You can search in TH-cam for more details how to set it up

well, thers a gap between backward and forward gear in the revers module

revers module in, servo in, cut out some Plastik to get space for the servo arm and build a Connection from servo arm to module. ist realy easy :)

***** its a stock module, if u like to disengage and rev like myn u will Need a orther radio control with a channel that has 3 positions ( forward-neutral-revers) or u buy that HPI-mixer thing and Switch forward and revers with the stock Rc control.

having an issue, Im using the old DSM2 system, or at least I think it is...whatever is the silver version was. My remote is the DX3C and when I turn on just the radio and reciever, its fine....but the second i fire the engine, the throttle just jumps and sticks at full throttle, I have control over steering and reverse still, but no control over the throttle servo.
So I relocated the reciever away from the reviever box just behind the gas tank ontop of the transmission, zip tied it to the frame that the tank connects to. But it is still going nuts....any ideas/suggestions?
