Hpi you may want to revise your manual on the new low end carb settings and state that if you live at elevations above 6,000 feet you may need to richen your low speed needle by 1/12 to 2/12 from the factory setting. The stock factory carb settings work fine during break in but after your motor is broke in the low needle is to lean. While driving you can put about half throttle into it then it cuts out. No amount of adjusting will fix this. I back my low needle by 1/12 to 2/12s and it runs good now both on the low end and high end. I no your manual says DO NOT TOUCH LOW SPEED but I think it would help folks out who live in higher elevation's. Just thought I would mention that
You made the mistake of saying lean it for more speed. You tune the wngine to make it run well but the noobs that watch this vid will start goin real lean
Hi! Why in the manual is the factory setting: high needle 1 and 1/2 low needle 1 and 1/4? This is different from your configuration as shown in the video!
Factory setting High screw is 1 turn unclock or 1turn and 1/2? Low screw it's 1 turn and 1/4 unclock or 1 turn and 7/12? My savage don't start and spark is wet with 1 turn H screw and 1 turn and 7/12 L screw
Just broke in mine on second tank of fuel. Thinking of tuning it now, but have issues with the car as of now. It starts on the first try allways, but it never runs more than i minute or so before the controls dies/shutsdown. Not the steering or the throttle will work even on a fully charged battery. And it will not shift into gear 2 so it only runs on 1st gear? What to do to get this bad boy to go? And how fast can it go?
sounds like you either got a defective set of batteries or your receiver may be faulty, if the engine is also shutting off at the same time as the controls, its definitely the batteries, because they arent holding a charge. if the truck runs away and the engine is still on, most likely it is your receiver, I would call HPI and troubleshoot with them, or take it to your local hobby dealer who is authorized to work on it without voiding the warranty and have them troubleshoot it, but that will cost money.
I live in Florida and I want to buy an octane would the factory setting be good for Florida and do I have to run it completely out of gas when I'm done for the day I don't know how to tune an engine that's why I want the octane but I still want a gas rc nothing against lipo power but I just prefer a pull start over a charger
uh? my baja is a two stroke.. i don't have any issues.. 3 pulls and it starts.. no issues. i think it's the ignition module that failing on most of these.
Hello sorry but you are completely wrong like HPI and tyant others with the adjustment of these carburettors FOR GASOLINE. HPI, like all other manufacturers of vehicles and engines that run on nitro, say exactly the same way to adjust the carburetion of a gasoline engine as one on nitro, which is TOTALLY FALSE. This type of carburettor, whether branded, Zama, Walbro, tillotson, etc., if they have a throttle valve, all fit exactly like a chainsaw. The low speed screw Lo=low speed. the hi=high speed screw. These are 2 circuits that supply the motor but be aware that from the quarter throttle open to wide open the 2 circuits add up. I explain to you as a master mechanic with more than 45 years of experience in the field. I am certified, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha Bombardier, Johnsered Stihl etc. I explain how to adjust your carburetor to perfection!!! start your engine and let it warm up to normal operating temperature for about 3-4 minutes. Let your engine idle because it is absolutely necessary to start by adjusting the LO screw in this way. What is needed is to find the rev peak by turning the lo screw very very slowly (to allow time for the motor to react) either clockwise or counter clockwise. clockwise and the regime will change. By turning the screw in one direction or the other find the point where the rpm will be the highest (always turn the screw lo and if the rpm is too high for idle, lower it to normal rpm with the throttle screw) and once the speed peak has been found, enrich (anti-clockwise) a quarter turn. For high revs do the same but be careful play quickly with the top screw because at high revs the engine reacts very quickly and leaving it too lean at high revs could damage it. Once you find the maximum RPM, add a quarter turn as you did for the low screw. If you listen to my advice, no one on this planet can do better than you. Ask any good chainsaw mechanic and they'll tell you I'm 200% right. I repeat the reason for starting with the lo speed screw is that at full speed the 2 circuits provide the total mixture then once the hi speed has been set if the person subsequently readjusts the lo speed by getting poorer (clock wise ) the total mixture WILL BE DECREASED. After a tank check the color of your spark plug spark plug best color is medium brown. The spark plug talk by by its color
Loses sense to have a van powered chainsaw. The sound is horrible. I do not understand the meaning of these new engines. I keep the engine of my Savage XL 5.9, including the truck loses shape due to disproportionate tremendous engine. It is also back in time you start the engine with the rope. I do not understand this new concept.

Really miss my Octane...and miss you guys HPI...

why do we need to shut off the engine to tune it?
V2 coming out? I’ll buy two.

Difference octane v1 and v2? How many litres durable the gasoline engine? Have much problem with electronic and carburation?
That did this at my local skatepark

Silver exhaust is first model o after black exhaust?

Got mine bak from the dealer and they have now fixed it for me. Runs like a bat out og hell :)
Factory setting for minimum screw? 1 turn and 7/12?

I have a nitro and u I don’t run it completely out of gas. I would suggest if ur gonna let it set then run gas out of it
kirby vanduzer btw I’m In Florida too
hello you need a video on tuning the Controller PLEASE???
how much its costin australian dollar
it's a 2 stroke people there always a pain in the butt no matter who's brand name is on them...
uh? my baja is a two stroke.. i don't have any issues.. 3 pulls and it starts.. no issues. i think it's the ignition module that failing on most of these.
lol let's see how far this one goes into discussion...
Nitro is more trouble A LOT.
This thing is sweet
I can't believe it cost more then a 1/6 fg baja,fg monster,1/5 ftx publisher, mcd rr,baja b.
it doesnt, the FG monster truck retails for 1,090 USD, this thing is 869 USD
***** £800 here in u.k. same hpi baja b and fg baja.
then hpi is being really weird with their pricing, here its the other way around, baja is 1,200
and the savage is about 900
❤🎉😢😮😅😊. ไฟไฟไฟไฟไฟแอดพ์.

as you are not a specialist you should not make such videos or the information is wrong
Sounds so horrid 🤦🏼♂️

gasoline is cheaper and easier to find than nitro. The engine is more durable too
