Gracias por ver! This should help you memorize your vocabulary better. Here’s the 3 things I would do if I had to learn Spanish from scratch again - speakspanishfaster.com/youtube

Yeah i am at fault for trying to memorize the top 250 words and while i was successful I didn’t see much improvement in reading or talking.

Recently, I started to briefly review lists of words about a topic(food, travel, etc,) but not give it too much thought. Then, I find articles about these topics and the words appear and they stay with me because I see them in context. Next, I listen to them and then try to use them in conversations. It is working so far. Thanks for the tips!

I spent a lot of time making flashcards without words in context. It would have been a lot better to have the words in context. The advice in this vid is spot on.

I teach English to middle school newcomers. Most are from Latin American countries. I’m required to only speak English to them but I find it helpful to learn some Spanish. This video is not only helping me learn strategies for my own language learning, it’s helping me learn how to help my students study English.

When i was learning pueryo rican Spanish, id listen to puerto rican podcasts (WITH SUBTITLES) and slow it down to find the words i dont know. Making sentences as i go and then it started making sense. Going back and listening to what theyre saying. Write these words with sentences you understand and it will click and that will then be added to your list of words you know!! Once i got through the whole video and now have translated it, i keep it slowed a tad bit, but i then dont write i just listen. After i get through the whole video i speed it up and listen consistently so i get used to the speed that they speak. I watch that 1-3 times normal speed or until i think i can understand without having to pause and think!!! Spanish TAKES TIME!!

Great content. I would like to respectfully disagree on memorizing lists of words. You're correct, most of the time it doesn't work. However, in very limited circumstances, lists are useful. For example, I work in industrial construction. So, a list of flowers or fish or beach items would be useless, however a list of tools, gear and equipment that we talk about several times a day is very useful. Hammers, hard hats, harnesses, ladders etc. This list doesn't improve my Spanish fluency but it makes me very effective if I know how to combine the list with such phrases as we need, do you have or who has. Basically, I think in everyone's life there are words that we use all the time, make a list and check it twice. Well, you might ask, what about people that just want to learn a language without any specialization? I would highly recommend a list of emergency phrases. Help me, I am sick, this man is sick, I can't breathe , call the ambulance, I am allergic to, etc. Thank you for your time and hard work.

Love your stuff. Please 🙏 please put Spanish subtitles across the bottom when you speak Spanish. I still can’t quite grok what you say at the very beginning of your vids. Either I don’t know those words, or I know them but can’t catch them because you fly through them, or maybe your pronunciation isn’t clicking for me.
If it’s not too much trouble, that would really Rock!

    Input - reading and listening
    Consuming comprehensible text
-write word in phrases so you have a context
    Output - writing and
    7:27 - Writing in
8:03 - Spaced Repetition - expose self to content over and over again
    To actively recall information
11:16 Context helps you review words
    Active recall vs spaced repetition
    (Can study reverse side)
    Study flash cards backwards
We naturally think in English first and then speak it

I spent an entire day rehearsing for an oral exam, and when my lecture spoke to me in spanish, I didn't understand the shift he said, lol. So I agree that listening is crucial. I think I spend too much time translating in my head.

Whenever possible, if i notice a word that was in a song , and im now understanding it, i try and keep that connection in my brain. Like, Despacito, bailamos, suavemente... slowly , we danse, softly. Then i modify the word to fit the sentence need.

Why is “yo caminado” is wrong and “yo caminé” correct I understand some verbs like “hablar” for instance “I speaked” is wrong but I still don’t get why it is a big deal I have looked at all sorts of literature and it still doesn’t satisfy me when they either say “it’s the Spanish language and not English” or “it doesn’t provide the complete idea or context” when it clearly does like the shortest sentence in the world “Jesus Wept.” It conveys the idea of -ed in the -t suffix I am being critical because it is frustrating when I can see that it could be done and simplify the language but no I have to be given unconvincing arguments I am just asking a critical question is that bad.

    • @deebeedeee
      @deebeedeee 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

“Caminé” is the past tense, so “yo caminé” would translate to “I walked”, and “caminado” is used in the past participle, so you’d use it with “has, have, had”.
So, “I’ve walked” would be “He caminado”…Both “caminé” and “caminado” are “walked” in Spanish, but “caminé” is used for the past tense, and “Caminado” for the past participle…
“Hablar” would translate to “hablé” in the past tense to say “ I spoke”, but the past participle for “speak” is “spoken”, so you’d then say “He hablado” for “I’ve spoken”. Hopefully this wasn’t too confusing.
