I started learning Spanish 3 weeks ago and I complete agree with your point on how DUOLINGO and Memrise made me feel less overwhelmed. I started off buying and beginner textbook realising it wasn’t meant for self study and all the exercises were quite difficult, it was a cheap efficient way to get started
In my humble opinion, using Dreaming in Spanish and Lingq for input-based learning is not only a fun way to learn Spanish, it's also very efficient, and starting at an intermediate level, you can start learning some grammatical concepts you haven't naturally acquired yet. Cross-talk or regular exchanges with native speakers (via Hellotalk/tandem/hilokal) will boost output skills in no time. But maybe it's just me not wanting language learning to look like an academic project. Anyway, I love your video, you seem to be born to share content because your way of presenting information is fantastic. 😍
Thank you so much 💜 Also, what you’re saying makes perfect sense! For me, I enjoy a balance between a more traditional approach to learning and input-based language acquisition, which is why I’m working on a video about immersion resources for Spanish right now where both LingQ and Dreaming Spanish will be mentioned :)
@@tbenavente Awesome ✨! I am very much looking forward to it. Especially, as I still feel that not enough people understood the importance of input and immersion. I hope your channel will get all the love it deserves. 🍀
What a great video! This is exactly what I needed when I was starting to learn Spanish so many years ago. Tanya this is an amazing video for Spanish learners. Thank you so much for doing all this work.
Super happy to watch your new video! I feel that there is not so much content on TH-cam about using textbooks and doing language courses so it’s refreshing to see how you used them with your learning. I too like to learn from them, my experience is that they help me to develop the skills I need to use the language. While having interesting content is important, I feel that the usual advice to learn things you are passionate about does not work for me because they do not equip me to have the usual conversations in the language. E.g. I am not very passionate to learn to describe my home town in the target language but that is the thing that everyone wants to talk about. Text books and courses have helped me to prepare for the not so interesting topics that will pop up when using the target language.
This is really helpful as I was looking for a textbook IN Spanish to learn Spanish! I teach ESL and I can see how powerful it can be to learn in the same language.
Tanya! This is a great video. I'm so happy to see a student recommend resources like Gramática Básica (The English version is called Students Basic Grammar of Spanish and is identical), or ProfedeELE. They're definitely the highest quality materials out there, but they're not well known by students. But they're the go to for most teachers (like me). SpanishDict is also fantastic, so many useful features. Thanks for sharing such valuable information for people looking to learn Spanish.
Hello :) Do you mean "Gramática básica del estudiante de español " or "GRAMÁTICA DE USO DEL ESPAÑOL" what is the best grammar book to learn Spanish and is fully written in Spanish? Thank you so much :)
Thank you so much for this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to improve my resources for Spanish so this came up on my feed at the perfect time! This was very helpful and well explained thank you for your content!
The complete spanish grammar did not work for me as well. And I felt so pressured to use it until I found this. Thanks a bunch! I think I like the grammar textbooks you recommended way more better.
Hi Tanya, I really enjoyed your video! I was curious to know if the Gramática de uso del español textbooks also had an option to listen to the material. And if not, which textbook we’re using in the at 4:26? It looked like you were listening an audio of some sort while also using your textbook
Hi Kaitlyn! Gramática de uso doesn't have audio which is why I'm hesitant to recommend it as a primary textbook - I think it works best as a supplement to a more comprehensive book. The book you're referring to is this one: tiendaonline.cga.es/ficha.php?codigo_comercial=1182180. It focuses on vocabulary, but the publisher also has similar books for grammar, phonetics, writing, etc. I actually have a couple of their books and I show them in this video: th-cam.com/video/kAMvXN8XojE/w-d-xo.html. Grammar books from that series do come with audio.
Would you be able to recommend tools for Mexico Spanish? I'm really loving your videos! I want to complete my learning Spanish and then learn Japanese and Korean
I mostly focused on Peninsular Spanish, so I don't have many recommendations for Mexican Spanish unfortunately, but I really like this creator and I think you might find this video useful: th-cam.com/video/0vxKlt0hSDk/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for your sharing. Besides, I think Immersive Translate is also useful in helping me learn Spanish. For example, it can translate unfamilar Spanish words.
Hello :) "Gramática básica del estudiante de español " or "GRAMÁTICA DE USO DEL ESPAÑOL" what is the best grammar book to learn Spanish and is fully written in Spanish? Thank you so much :)
Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Are most of these resources for European Spanish, or both..? I'm interested in Latin American Spanish. Also, I'm curious how you went about choosing a language school, and why did you choose Spain?
I’d say most of these are definitely for European Spanish (because that’s what I was focusing on), but Campus Difusión has books and articles for Latin American Spanish too. As for courses, I didn’t really consider other options because my partner was getting his master’s degree at Universidad Carlos III in Madrid at the time, so I just signed for a Spanish course there.
Подскажите, как вы тренировали произношение в Английском? Я неплохо говорю, и достаточно с правильным произношением, но меня вычисляют что у меня русский акцент, и не понимаю как его смягчить во время быстрой беседы. И еще подскажите в целом как вы выучили английский? Я дошла до уровня В2 но выйти на уровень выше не получается, такое впечатление что я застряла на нем и дальше не двигаюсь, хотя мне окружающие говорят что у меня язык улучшается, но сама я не вижу такого яркого результата
Hi! So you first purchase this one (the price is €0): difusion.com/tienda/producto/biblioteca-completa-difusion-3-semanas-profesor-demo. After your purchase is done, they give you a license number. And then you go to campus-difusion.avallainmagnet.com/, make an account there and once you're in, enter the license number to see the content available on the platform.
I don't understand why you recommended Beginning Spanish Grammar by McGraw Hill. Based on your recommendation I searched for copies for sale online. I was able to read a sample and I noticed it listed numerous Spanish words but didn't give English translations. Pictures were provided for a few words but it's not always obvious what word is meant from the picture (moreover most words don't have pictures). And this was right at the beginning of the book. I hardly think a book that doesn't provide English translations for Spanish words is appropriate for a beginner. In that respect Complete Spanish Grammar from the Practice Makes Perfect series is better as it does provide English translations.
@@tbenavente exactly. these talkative boring types of videos exist by the dozen, you all have been successfully NORMED, DECAFFEINATED AND STERILIZED, with nothing left to say, do or give. What a sad and below mediocre generation! And then, not even able to accept the slightest criticism without whining, screaming and accusing and shaking your lazy legs around in hysteria... 😂
