EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! Thank you for your input!! I have found myself freezing over the phone when trying to speak in Spanish. And I have know my friend for over 10 years. He is a Spanish speaker, originally from Brooklyn. But this is our first time in trying to speak Spanish together. LOL
@@spyderj3756 jaja keep at it my friend. I'm so happy that I can help you out! I have no doubt you will master Spanish :)
@@SpeakSpanishFaster your program is actually fun brother!
I really want to learn Spanish, but how do I know if this is legit

Just a few weeks ago I found myself actually listening to Spanish and understanding it without translating to English in my head. And when I read, I used to read the Spanish translated to English in my head but I just found myself reading in Spanish and understanding without having to put it into English. I don’t know how but it just happened and now I feel more comfortable listening to Spanish now
This happened to me two day’s ago after years of learning Spanish in school....so weird. It just clicks now.
It’s starting to click for me too. Idk how.
The brain is a wonderful tool
How long did this take?

The night I dreamt in Spanish was a monumental moment. I was so stoked when I woke up. I knew I had finally levelled up.
1.listen & read comprensible input
2.consciously force yourself to think in Spanish (start simple)
• example : how to say "work" in Spanish?
3.talk to yourself
4.use images to memorise words and learn in context
Thank you Rocky, Great tips
Saludos
Talking to yourself is one of the best techniques you can do to accelerate your way to fluency. I constantly did this when learning Spanish. And attaching meaning/images to words I was learning. And also learning words in context. We’re on the same page brother. This is the natural way of learning a language. Deliberate, strategic practice.
Im secretly learning spanish so I can tell if my girls family is talking shit about me
As long as they're offering unlimited Salsa and lime then don't sweat it 🤛
They are talking shit about you. EVERY girl’s family talks shit about the bf.
But who cares. Just be you hombre.
Maravillosa jugada!
Haha

That’s why I like learning spanish through TV & movies , I’ve been watching “Nicky Jam” on Netflix writing down all the subtitles & studying each episode ! It’s been teaching me SO MUCH Puerto Rican slang & phrases that’s been helping me ALOT with understanding my Caribbean spanish friends
Haha I do the same thing. I thought I was the one who wrote down subtitles.

yooo i watch santonia sometimes and other random shows in spanish but now i gotta check this show out

When I'm back in Mexico with my wife's family, I find tequila helps--It breaks the translation machinery in your head and forces you to relax into the language you have already acquired. Needless to say, too much will have the opposite effect and you may just end up making an ass of yourself. Great post Rocky.
Thanks my friend! It's actually very true that alcohol does that to your language speaking skills!
I can now understand Spanish sentences and conversation from videos I watch without reading subtitles. I just listen to it. Estoy aprendiendo de español durante aproximadamente dos mes. I have a lot to learn, but it's nice to feel and to know that I can now comprehend the language even though I'm studying all by myself.
That's when you hit the next level. Felicidades.
@@Snk13_ty ¡Muchas gracias a usted! 😁
Two months that’s amazing your doing great!!!
Dios mio, dos meses? He aprendido español por 8 meses y todavía necesito traducirlo en inglés.
Pero no tengo mucho tiempo para estudiar, con la escuela y el fútbol y las tareas. Puedo estudiar por aproximadamente un o dos horas si pruebo.
thank you for this video. im a "no sabo" kid and im focusing on learning spanish so i can teach my future children. i want them to connect with their family (that do speak spanish) and with their culture 🤍 im super hard on myself when i dont learn things right away but your video made me realize it is a process and i should be patient and focused
¿Tu puedes hablar ahora?
I am fluent in ASL. I really enjoy practicing with the songs on radio. I am driving down the road, with my hands flying to music.
I am glad I am glad I am not the only one interviewing myself in other languages.
I stg this is no joke probably the most help and best tips I have gotten jn over 3 years of learning spanish.
Thanks Brad that's great to know!
Images y frases me ayudan mucho durante mi proceso de aprendiendo español. Son muy importantes. Muchas Gracias Por su ayuda Maestro 💪🏽
Gracias por este video Rocky. He llegado a un punto en el que traduzco a mi lengua materna inmediatamente. en todo caso, se ha convertido más en una muleta que en un beneficio. Estoy tratando de pensar en español pero hasta ahora no lo logro. Funcionó solo el 5% del tiempo.
So true! I had a few dreams in Spanish.
Buen consejos! Uso los imagenes de las palabras porque yo leo mejor que hablo. Mi practica escuchando no es buena.😩
I did an interview with myself using a deep voice as the interviewer and a higher voice as the interviewee. I played it back and made a couple more. Played them back and was pretty pleased. Yes! Talk to yourself because it’s great practice. Ask yourself all kinds of questions and then answer, using the conjunctions and the prepositional phrases to link sentences together. You know, “fillers”. You will have an awesome time doing this exercise and when you do it daily, you can go practice with real natives in their places of business when you go to buy groceries or sports merch, or whatever! It’s fun!
Came here bc I have befriended a new family. From Cuba to Santo domingo and also Mexican. I kno some words and that reason they took to me very well and also spoke in Spanish and english. I want to actually converse and feel normal lol..
I luv them so much bc strangers treated me better than blood and those I thought were my friends.. whew they even brought me a bday cake and invited me to their homes and also want me to be financially stable they are showing me ways to help build my credit an make a better way for my family and leave something for my child n GRANDCHILD..
My only wish is knowing them earlier but god places ppl in your life at certain times whether you seek GROWTH or whether they are there only for lessons. I'm forever grateful
I'll give you a helping hand in your learning process if you're in need of it.
I had my very first dream in Spanish two weeks ago. Tengo mi primera sueño en español hace dos semanas!
Español ha abierto muchas oportunidades para me. Tengo agraciado para vos
I have deviated some from your plan. I am writing down each phrase about 50 times. I am then going to make flash cards of each phrase with the translation on back and randomly select them to test myself. I am strong on some but weak on others. I will work on those I struggle with the hardest. Keep on keeping on. I am and have learned a great deal. Great classes.
Waves bussin out the frame 💯

I’m in the very beginning stages of learning Spanish. I have a tutor, using Duolingo, listening to music, listening to my Spanish co workers and your videos. I’m trying to think Spanish
How’s it going?
a veces es divertido aprender a hablar tu propio idioma
jaja
my spanish learning journey has phases ... my strong point has always been reading and writing in Spanish , then speaking it then all of a sudden got better. Now i’m having to work a lot on my listening in spanish conversation . But then one day my friend from Honduras was voice noting me in only spanish and we do this every day now ... i understood almost everything he said .... and i was amazed and cudnt figure out how this was happening 🤯. i do need to brush up listening in convos with spanish speakers from all different countries tho, as i think i got used to my Honduran friends accent the most.
But it went from minimal in all mentioned aspects and then one day i realised i was just better at these things and my native spanish peers noticed and all mentioned this to me ..... mi español es mejor ahora.
i had my first dream in Spanish a couple weeks ago. That was very strange to me ... Hasn’t happened since , but it’s funny you mentioned this as i didn’t think it meant a lot.
Thanks for your tips on this video . 😊👌🏾
Thank you for making these videos. I picked learning Spanish back up two weeks ago and I always refer to your videos when I’m confused on a subject to get it cleared it. :)
Thanks so much for watching! Glad to see you picked it back up!
You have a super talent to teach and encourage us all to learn in an interesting way.
I appreciate that Joanne! Thanks so much!
Glad to hear this, since I'd started doing it naturally, the "fake" conversations. Glad to know I am not alone!
Rocky- you are Rad. I'm so inspired. I speak a bit of Spanish. I'd say I can read and understand more than I can speak. A video like this hits the nail on the head though. I do still constantly find myself doing exactly this. Hearing something in Spanish, translating to english and then trying to figure out how to respond in Spanish. This video helped give me tips to immerse and try to overcome this. I do definitely do one of the step. I only speak to my cat in Spanish, and because I am in a long distance relationship with someone who knows very little english, I find myself speaking to myself in Spanish and practicing things I'd like talk about with him so i can have a decent conversation without using translation apps.
I am working on learning Spanish. I have been at it off and on for a while. Over 4 months ago, I picked it back up and have been studying it daily. I do Duolingo daily but I always turn my phone side ways to listen. I try hard at not translating so there are times I just pick up context clues and get the sentence right. The biggest issue I had was the linking of words. Use to drive me crazy. I then researched and found the rules on linking and dipthongs. After I do my normal studying, I now finish my study off every night listen to you. I also use my Talk Now CD which has a game that times you and score you based on how fast you click on what it says before the screen changes. It was addictive but I can now remember all those words without translating. Keep up the good work.
Use baselang
You just explained everything that goes on in my head. I translate from spanish to english and back to spanish. When I have a conversation in spanish I speak very slow. I know the words but its hard to put into sentences.
Holaaaa from Vietnam. I'm on my way to achive Spanish and randomly found your videos. They are really really helpful & easy to understand. Will try to practice listening to Spanish. By the way i leanred French years ago and I realized that these two languages are somehow similar. That helps me a lot as well. Muchas gracias ^^. Will keep supporting you and your videos
I’m finding now that I sometimes spell an English word in the Spanish form, for example I will only use one ‘m’ in the middle of a word when I should be using two. I think it is a good thing so long as I correct it.
Yes!! I've been having the same problem lol, I keep spelling english words how they sound or like their spanish counterparts and it can be very draining at times when I genuinely can't remember how to spell something in english 🤣
Bro I never comment on TH-cam but you’ve helped me a lot man, I appreciate. Saludos desde Holanda, pais bajo

Thank you sir i failed the interview last night but listening to you i again start believing in me
All the best -- you got this!
Is that a coffee mug for "The Office"??? If so, I am loving you even more! Thank you for your great videos!
Sounds so obvious when you say it: remember phrases, not words. I think this is what I've been doing wrong, and why it's so hard to speak. Thanks. I translate in my head to speak, but not to listen. I hear in phrases, but learn in individual words. That's a huge difference.
I talk to myself and my cats all the time in Spanish ...haha...when I am doing that and come to a phrase or word I don't know, I will look it up and write it down.
Nah same lmao and my cat understands me too lol 💀😭
In my Spanish class, we just learn singular vocab words and conjugations. I have learned so much more by using phrases with my parents.
Just completed the book by Kevin Horsely, thanks for recommending!
Thanks for the content, hopefully I can finally grasp the language
I remember you used to give me tips on my b-ball handles now you helping me with my Spanish too. Yo you really do it all! Good shit my guy👏🏾🔥
Thank you for these great guidelines 🙏
Estoy tratando para dejar traducir ingles a español en mi cabeza.
Muy dificil pero debo hacerlo para puedo mejorar.
This was very helpful. Muchas gracias
Great practical tips! Muchísimas 💜
You are ace man!!! Thank you so much for your insights & teaching... So appreciated!
Excellent!!!!😊
This is excellent stuff and will really help me. I realized a lot of it I’ve already been doing or already knew, but now I can be even more focused and intentional about it. I am also an art teacher and these methods can also be useful to pass on in general forms of teaching. I love your teaching approach. Thanks from Albuquerque NM.
I have dreamed in Spanish and I’m not close to fluent sir 😂 it is always on my mind tho as I’m learning 🙃
Do some listening comprehension videos. This was very informative also.
this was very satisfying...thank you very much :)
Your tips are full of experienced and knowledge, i hope you get what it means hehhe this help me alot in improving my Spanish😊 i am waiting to dream in spanish ehhe
Haha Thanks so much Yoseph I truly appreciate your kind words :)
This is a great video. This is my biggest problem. When I speak to my Spanish speaking friends my spanish voice in my head is so slow so that I freeze completely. I’m thinking English, trying to translate it in Spanish. I got my Spanish friend looking at me like: Well??? I get nervous and say bien, bien. Lol 😂 I get so frustrated I give up. I feel embarrassed. These tips are going to help me tremendously. Thx!!!
Great tips Rocky, I'm gonna stay with you on this channel keep up the good work man
Very helpful, thank you.

Rocky, love your videos man. You apply logic to the language. Its exactly what I need 💯💯
I'm using this video for thinking in english because I talk spanish XD
But i think the tips are good for both languages.

Thank you so much for this video, I am trying very hard to learn spanish fluently. My issue is where I live there is a lot of dialects of spanish ie: Dominica, PR, Mexico , CentralAmerica(Honduras/Ecuador). Where should I start? I have more or less chosen Mexico because it borders here.
Again thank you for the video!
This is so helpful thank you so so so much

Ive had a year of Spanish at school and I gotta say we haven't learned much, only the basics for a whole year so I'm challenging myself to learn more Spanish than at school in only the summer vacation since my Spanish teacher ain't that good at teaching spanish tbh
Soy española y hace un par de días descubrí tu canal y de verdad que me encanta!! WOW!!! I was thinking in Spanish over the summer. Eran Scripturas de la Bíblia. That came from my head just now. I am probably wrong, though..
Sir very nice truly true as I learned English now in process to learn Spanish
Great video Rocky! It is so true that you need to start talking to yourself which others have advised me to do. May I ask what microphone setup you use?
Hey Edward, honestly I've had this set up for years since I started doing music nearly a decade ago but I have a simple condenser mic that hooks into a m-audio (not sure if they even sell these any more.) I record and edit all my vocals on Pro Tools.
Soy hablante nativa de español y deseo aprender inglés
el inglés es más difícil de aprender que el español
I woke up after listening to Spanish phrases in my sleep and remembered “how old are you” in Spanish but I didn’t know what I was saying 😂😂. When I translated it I was shocked lol.
This video is so helpful! Mucho gracias ❣️
Of course! Thanks for watching :)
Hey, this slightly off topic of the video but do you think recording yourself talking about a subject off a script and using it as listening comprehension is a good way to acquire vocabulary and add good sentence structure for when speaking?
What’s the difference between tenía and tuve. Or estuve and estaba. I don’t understand when to use them??
they’re two different past tenses!! tenía and estaba are the imperfect while tuve and estuve are the preterite. a really simplistic different between them is that the imperfect is for habitual actions in the past or continuous past actions while the preterite is for completed actions, but it’s a little more nuanced than that (like “i was ten” is actually “tenía diez años” not tuve). look up preterite vs imperfect and i’m sure there’ll be plenty of websites that explain all the differences!! hope that helps :)
Just found your channel. Now subscribed , Liked, & Bell! Well done, great tips here. I 've always wanted to speak to my neighbours' dog in spanish ! Cheers, Dk.
El español es mi lengua nativa pero no se por qué razón aplico todos tus consejos y los uso en mi inglés.

Do you offer private tutoring lessons?
Baselang help me tremendously
Question: when looking at tv shows should I have the audio in Spanish and subtitles in English or both in Spanish?
It depends how well you are understanding it. If you can watch it with subtitles in Spanish, that would be better. BUT if not then you can watch it one time with the subtitles in English so you can get a good idea of what's being said and then watch it again with subtitles in Spanish.
Much better if there are things you don't understand ( not over 20% though) with subtitles in spanish than getting it all through the english subtitles.
If you're not able to understand about that 80% without the english subtitles you better look for something not as complicated
I will for sure use the outrageous images.thanks rocky
Great advice 👍👍 gracias!
Very good. Very helpful
Glad it was helpful Ann!
When I talk to someone in Spanish like a greeting, I don’t have to do any translation because I just automatically know what to say, but when they ask how my day was and more complex questions then I have to translate lol.
