Something that could make the fake Animal Crossing: New Horizons thing more credible is that Animal Crossing: Population Rising actually had something similar. If you use the train to visit another player's town and shut off the game while in the other town, then the next time you load your save, your character's face will turn into something similar to the one from the video. Also, there's a game called "Sonic Gather Battle" that actually has "creepypasta" anti-piracy similar to those fake videos, even though the game is free to download. If the game detects that you're trying to mod it, then it sends your IP address to the creator, spawns a ghost enemy, and replaces the graphics with spooky variants.

I like the original controller in my hands and the sounds of the original console. I don’t mind paying for my games. A lot of work goes into them.
