Welcome to WeWrench! In this video, I continue disassembling the front clip of the car to prepare for powertrain removal. I describe and illustrate how the radiator should be removed, along with the AC Condenser and engine oil cooler, which is unique to the M5.
We are now 4 episodes into this restoration project and the excitement is beginning to build. Once the powertrain is removed and inspected, we can begin assessing the body for the extent of damage and repairs necessary. We will also be refreshing and restoring the rear subframe and assembly and differential. Many more great videos to come!
Any owners of the BMW E24 M6 and E30 M3 will benefit from watching as well, due to the fact that the S38B35 powertrain and S14B20, and S14B23 powertrain share parts with the S38B36. You will also benefit from watching this series if you own the following BMWs:

Also another tip, i think you probably should make bigger videos, setting a big goal for each one of them, like "today we drop the drivetrain" basically not splitting the episodes into parts. Keep it up :)

That was the original idea but I found that TH-cam favors shorter videos. The reason being that people click away only after a few minutes and that creates a lower engagement rating on longer videos as opposed to short ones. My first video was 38 minutes and the engagement rate is super low compared to the future episodes.

I also prefer long form videos. But I noticed the other mechanic channels I watch had shortened their videos up lately as well. I guess there are analytics at work there.

Just seen your channel so I’ve subscribed. I’m doing a restoration on my UK 1990 M5. Had it since 1998 and can’t see me selling it. All the very best with the project Michael. I’ll share some pics with you?

I absolutely hate it when they put plastic barbs on radiators... Now my experience is only with computer water radiators... but I can't tell you how many times back in the day I snapped them off and then had to drill, tap, and put on a metal barb :D I recently switched from using flexible tubing (mostly because the plasticizer they use in them breaks down after only a couple years) to hard tubing (like clear PETG) which has its own set of problems. If only I knew a person that was good at metal pipe bending and potentially welding.... Definitely skills I'd like to learn at some point.
