i dreaded doing this because of this comment but i didn't have any issue with the installation at all? and one of my oil cooler lines is bent inward so it's even closer to the compressor
@@Vanya2893 it certainly varies by car, but we have since revised our M20/30 compressor bracket to bring things closer to the engine and provide additional clearance!
Just got your e30 full kit (and inside lines) and did the install myself. This video is a nice addition to your written instructions! I'm in Houston and last night after charing it up I went out in 87 degrees and 77% humidity -- outlet temp driving was 40 degrees!! It works great! The biggest PITA was the 4th (back) screw on the expansion valve cover. Everything else and the parts in the kit were perfect and it went smoothly. Thanks A/C Solutions!!
@@Asrg New but original type fan. Flushed out original parallel flow condenser and re-used. Still getting 40-44 degree outlet temps in this hot weather!

Absolutely love this video, very well made and clear instructions. I am looking to purchase this kit soon to let my soul rest in cold AC E30 heaven. 😋😋
Hello AC Solutions. I have a Standard compressor and I want to know if you have an installation video for the Standard compressor, specifically in what position it is installed and how the hoses are connected.
This is an awesome video, I plan on purchasing a kit for my E30 shortly, just have a few questions prior.. 1. I live in Australia and have a RHD E30, so I will need to reuse my interior lines, but still replace both ends of the interior lines with new Oring seals? 2. What is involved in flushing the old interior lines? Can this be done in the car before new parts are installed? 3. Once kit is installed can I drive the car to AC shop ungassed? Just don’t want to damage the system.. 4. Can a shop do the vaccum test prior to regassing the system? I’m confident in the install based on this video, but just want to make sure it’s something I can do at home myself or if I should be paying a shop to complete it all.
Great questions! Feel free to email us at info@acsolutions.co for further inquires! 1. Yes, we only carry the LHD interior lines currently, but all of our E30 kits come with the interior o-rings 2. Flushing the old lines can be done with any off-the-shelf a/c flush (or by your local a/c shop). This is highly recommended for any reused parts and should always be done before installation. 3. Yes! As long as the compressor is not engaged during the drive, it will spin freely on the clutch pulley. 4. Yes - it is imperative that the system is vacuumed and pressure tested prior to charging. Any a/c shop will be able to help you with this process.
@@acsolutionsco awesome thanks so much for the prompt reply! Ideally I’d like to get a set of new RHD interior lines included from you if possible to keep things all new? Will send an email shortly to discuss, thanks! Looking forward to having a cold E30 in the Australian heat :)
This is on our roadmap; however, we have a few other projects in the mix first! If your car has a working factory Denso compressor, we'd recommend purchasing one of our service kits along with a new condenser and expansion valve and having the system professionally charged.
I have the entire kit in a box waiting to be installed while I address other things. I noticed some of the hoses came with open ends, and I'm aware all the system components have to be cleaned/flushed. I'll be doing the install myself, how would you recommend I clean each part of the system? It would be extra cool if the components all came clean and sealed on both ends somehow.
It looks like all you'll have to do is flush the stock evaporator in the dash. However, I would recommend you replace that evaporator if you're going through the trouble of replacing every other component of the air conditioning system
@@TriStarGearhead that's correct! You only need to flush the components that are going to be reused - our parts come fully pressure tested (and clean) as they are new!
@@TriStarGearhead Thanks for the reply. I believe replacing the actual evaporator is somewhat of a horror show type of project, I believe I saw it disassembled by the channel RestoreIt.
@@acsolutionsco My concern isn't that the parts weren't tested/cleaned when made, they look great quality in fact 🤌but that they were sent unsealed in a box with floating particles in it. Not bagged or with plugs, which I think would be a nice touch for peace of mind. I will flush everything to be sure since my AC is all apart now anyway.
Not a dumb question at all! Our products are designed for cars that came with A/C from the factory, so you will need the interior HVAC console, evaporator, factory wiring harness, and the drier return line (long metal line) along with a few other small brackets highlighted in the video that are reused during installation.
For the M42-based E30, we are still working on launching a full kit this; however, we did find that during our testing the factory Denso setup was more than adequate when running R134a as these are very similar to the E36-era A/C compressors that are quite robust. We would recommend using our A/C Solutions BMW E30 R134a Retrofit Kit (82319067394) in conjunction with our CSF parallel flow condenser, interior lines, expansion valve filter drier, pressure switches, etc. (all available on our site). The only key items that we don't offer are the 2 lines going to/from the compressor. If you have any other questions, please send us a message!
Not this specific kit; however, we are in the process of launching a full E30 M3 (and 318i) kit for the S14/M10 engine configuration in a few months - stay tuned!
In this video you convert the Late Model drier pressure switch to an early one. Is that still needed if we select the 09/89 or later kit on the website? Or can we keep the same wiring and put in a new Late Model Pressure Switch 64538390971?
Great question! We have since revised a majority of components in this kit so if you were to select the ≥ 09/89 option, it will come with the late model safety switch (64538390971). Pre 09/89 models will ship with the early model drier and use the high-pressure cut off switch (64531386971).
@@acsolutionsco Thanks for the quick reply. So just to clarify, when I order the "BMW E30 Complete Conversion Kit" for "325i ≥ 09/89" it will come with the Late Model Safety Switch (64538390971)? Do you have a kit for an '85 e24 (dual ac) -I have the rear ac in my 635csi
What did you think was going to happen? You don’t get your A/C Solutions kit installed? I don’t get ice cold air out of the vent?
I'd be willing to drop this whole thing, for a slice of 41 degrees at the vent.
"What happens next leaves our entire team in disbelief" 😂
What kind of foam could I possibly use around the new expansion valve to replace the original one that completely disintegrated?
We would recommend any generic HVAC cork tape (typically black in color with a sticky backing) and carefully shape it into position!
Hello ac solutions, do you sttil have the ac compressor that you take off the car? I may be interested in purchasing it. Good video by the way.
Unfortunately not, it was a non-working unit when removed.
Sorry if I missed it but what about an e30 that didn’t come with AC from the factory?
Check out our FAQs! It's not as easy, but it's doable - www.acsolutions.co/pages/faqs
What’s the approximate installation time for a kit such as this?
For DIY enthusiasts (at home on jack stands) we would budget 5-8 hours depending on the number of "while you're in there" items!
