to ppl who are afraid to pry off their keys... put a little pressure on it but not so much, and do it horizontally(where the lock's opening usually is) not vertically to prevent the locks from breaking. When inserting the instrument you're using(I use a spare stainless ear cleaner that I don't use because it bends on the tip, not sharp, and thin enough) to pry the keys off, make sure you're putting the pressure on the key and not on the plastic that holds the key. Push down the plastic while you're removing the key.
I've tried it, and it worked. Spilled soda all over had to suffer for a month and i've finally decided to do a full clean. It's just like brand new and I couldn't be happier. Just remember to be very gentle and not rush your process when taking the keys out. Once it's out, just put back the little bars in and it'll snap back in place with you push it.

Bro u saved my life. My laptop is the most important thing to me. I have an ASUS TUF F505d Gaming Laptop. It was a Christmas present from my dad. I was in bed using it and I had some mountain dew. I was drinking it over my computer and I spilled it. I was so worried I ruined it. Thanks to this video, it is back to normal and I can't thank you enough. There is one itsy bitsy problem tho. I can't seem to remove my left shift key. I was able to take the space key off but not shift. Anyone know how I can do that? I used quite a bit of force and I couldn't get it to come off. I was afraid of breaking it so I left it alone. A guy had asked in a comment if it is ok to use with backlight keys, and yes, it is. It makes no difference, at least in my experience.

For best result, try small brush with hot (warm) soapy water, and keep working the brush allover the keys place after removing them, let the brush have a little bit of the warm soapy water, just a little, too tiny amount, and the keys as well when you remove them, work them all with the brush and the soapy water too. Dry the keys with tissue papers and BOOM you have the best keys in the whole world 👌
when i tried this i was so afraid i would break something but if you go around carefully and don't break the small pins it will be ok TIPS: - i used a metal flexible ruler which helped distribute the force evenly when prying -TAKE YOUR TIME and DONT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE opening this is the most important part -if you don't open it the first time go around a few times eventually it the key will pop out -Make sure you take your time when cleaning i had to reclean some of the keys because i wasn't happy with the feel BE GENTLE AND PATIENT and this will work Thank you for the video
this works real good man, my right shift key was nearly unclickable after i spilled iced tea on my keyboard, after i did this it was still somewhat sticky but much better than before. btw u dont need to remove the entire keycap, just need to pry open a hole that lets in the q tip/paintbursh whatever youre using to clean it out.

I hope you all can read this before actually doing this because there is a 50/50 chance of you breaking the key and never being able to put it back when you pry it off like that. That can actually damage the little plastic hooks holding on to the keyboard.

I found another solution in case u still don't feel safe popping your keys, Just raise the keys slightly and rub alcohol in the gaps, it's working for me rn!

A long time ago I just took the whole laptop keyboard out and used about 1 gal of rubbing alcohol and just slowly poured it down the keys from the side holding the keyboard vertical. I then blew aire through it let it dry for a long time. I reinstalled keyboard and it worked fine. Maybe I was just lucky. Do at your own risk. You could also buy a new keyboard for laptop if needed
Best to not remove keys.. it's horrible getting them back on. Usually they break since the plastic is ridiculously fragile.. I've had to glue 4 of my keys back together.

The spacebar is a tricky little bitch at first but you can get it off. Don’t be too careful but also not too rough.
The space button is hanging on with 2 wires (going upwards) so u first pull out the two sides until you hear it click, and then the middle part.
i broke my space bar, but now its clean and still working but looks awful

A 0.6mm crochet hook is easier to use than a needle, you can get them for a few pounds at most craft stores
