I saw TNA at Universal Studios back in the day. That was so cool for me as a kid. I had never been to a WWE show, but was a huge fan at the time, so seeing any kind of live pro wrestling show was a great experience for me.
Honestly, I gotta respect TNA/Impact Wrestling just for still being around in one shape or another. People have been announcing its death on a weekly basis for years and yet here they are, still chugging along, still making deals with pretty big companies and still having a unique identity.
One major flaw in the story. Spike TV wanted to own TNA, Dixie did not want to sell the company to them and lose all control of it. This is from Dixie herself, which would be the most inside story possible. Spike likely was not interested in a product that they saw potential in, yet they could plainly see was horribly mismanaged
@@jrsmith1998 Nah they tried bringing it back already. It was poorly received by both fans and wrestlers. Fans thought they were copying UFC. Because ofc UFC apparently created the concept of a six sided ring which means no one else ever can use one. But the wrestlers hated it because it was harder to work in, and smaller than the standard 4 sided ring. It's more familiar to the wrestlers and ofc they get more space to work with. I'm not against them bringing back the 6 sided ring personally. But in almost every way it would be a really bad decision outside of maybe like, an annual throwback show like they kinda did when they bought back the TNA Branding for one night. Or how WWE sometimes do classic raw or smackdowns (altho tbh the way WWE does it is insanely lazy they just change some logos, the ring apron, and ropes and that's it not even the stage or anything.
In my opinion way better than the best of seven we just got between The Elite and Death Triangle. Beer Money and MCMG just had such good chemistry and put on awesome matches.
The Main Event Mafia was such a great concept, if they had used it better to really push younger talent and picked said talent better they really could have hit a home run with that one.
I have been waiting for a video explaining both the good and bad of TNA and this was great! I would love for a more in depth on in the future going over all of the insanity of their horrible booking in the future!

I loved watching the promos, the matches and PPVs and guys like Somoza Joe, Bobby Roode, AJ Styles, Abyss, Austin Aries, James Storm etc (I could go on) made it great. And who can forget, my favourite tag team of all time, Curry Man and Shark Boy.
Before I watch this video, I loved TNA before the Eric and hogan era. They were not needed. It was a great product. Gail kim and Kong made there woman's division. They made me fall in love with woman's wrestling
I started watching TNA because WWE switched to Sky Sports (a package we didn't have) around 2004. In the UK we had the Wrestling Channel where TNA and ROH were the stalwarts. TNA in the mid 2000s was amazing, though at the time I took it for granted and just wanted to watch WWE. The TNA roster was incredible; Jeff Jarrett, Abyss, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Sting, Low Ki, (The Fallen Angel) Christopher Daniels, America's Most Wanted, Team Canada, 3 Live Kru, Raven and even more...
True, but in the end it was Jarrett who created TNA something that no one would have done if he had given up when his wrestling career ended in 2001 when vince fired him.

TNA Wrestling is not a defunct promotion. The promotion was renamed "Impact Wrestling", the name of their featured weekly show. No, Impact (TNA) Wrestling no longer have the involvement of Jeff & Jerry Jarrett, Panda Energy or Spike TV (which was also remamed "Paramount") as financial backing. There was WCW, then TNA. Will AEW join them in an inevitable fall against WWE? Or AEW be the one to rise above WWE and dominate pro wrestling and be called the new top brand in the sport?!
I dunno about all that, but for the moment, AEW is doing a great job of recruiting the guys that WWE can't or won't keep. And they don't seem to be bleeding money yet. And Impact isn't doing horribly with this partnership deal. I think they both better pray that nothing bad happens to Omega, though.

Between early 2006 and when Hogan & Bischoff came on board, I watched TNA religiously. Even the days after Russo came back were pretty good compared to the travesty Easy E and The Hulkster turned it in to. The days of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Team Canada, Beer Money, MCMG, Amazing Red, etc. were an amazing time.
Good video, but i think it is unfair to me that Sting is just barely mentioned when he was one of the leadders of the brand, the heart and soul of the company with AJ, the first real legend to step up and perhaps alongside Angle, company's "mainstream" biggest attraction.
I have relatives that live in Tennessee, and one of my cousins once dated a guy who was really good friends with the jarretts. He told us once before TNA started up that Jeff and Jerry were talking about creating their own company, so I knew of TNA before it even began. My cousin would end up working for Jerry Jarrett, not sure what kind of job it was. But, it was all cool. One night I was flipping channels and came across the ppv channel promoting TNA's first show that night, I told my mom that this might be that company we were told about so I asked if I could order it. Lol 😁
I absolutely loved TNA during its early days! I attended one of their first shows in Essex and also saw their debut show at Wembley Arena. During the show, I screamed at Erb 'You screwed Bret' to which he replied, 'I know, asshole.' The X-Division, Beer Money, MCMG, Abyss, Bully Ray, AJ, Knockout division, and so much more made the product a must-watch. Sadly, the company fell apart, which seemed to coincide with the arrival of Hogan and Bichoff
I was very skeptical about this video.. Once I hear Ross though, immediately my interest came in and I was glued! Very glad I stuck around because this is fantastic presentation.
well he was largely responsible for the attitude era in the beginning and that started the biggest boom in the history of the WWE. You can see why he would have such a huge ego and think he could do that anywhere. Yeah he played a big part in the beginning but so did the wrestlers like stone cold, the rock and dx. if you dont have guys like that to write for good luck trying to make it work.

I know, right? Episode 1000 of Impact! coming in September, too.
IMPACT WRESTLING IS HARD TO KILL
It’s like a antibiotic resistant bacteria
hence why they named a PPV after it
One major flaw in the story. Spike TV wanted to own TNA, Dixie did not want to sell the company to them and lose all control of it. This is from Dixie herself, which would be the most inside story possible. Spike likely was not interested in a product that they saw potential in, yet they could plainly see was horribly mismanaged
I really loved TNA back in the day. Always get annoyed when people, who obviously didn't watch, bash it.
I think impact wrestling should bring back the 6 sided ring for one night only
no. the should being of back permanently
@@hyperacc6530ummmm, UFC uses an eight sided cage… hence why it’s called The Octagon 😅
TNA's never ending potshots also contributed to them becoming a shell of their former glory. Thank you Dixie and Russo!
Thank you for acknowledging Beer Money and the MCMG. Their best of seven series had me completely hooked at the time!
TNA was the first live wrestling event I went to and it was great. I remember it was more accessible on TV than WWE at times so I watched it.
@@Deadguy2322forreal huh? I'm not here for grammar lessons
Jeff Hardy really helped keep them alive from ‘10-‘14 but even he couldn’t hold that company on his back no matter how much they leaned on him
Unfortunately, his road to Victory was more of a road to “Bulls***,” and Sting agreed!
The thing is Jeff Jarrett was an outstanding technical wrestler
True, but in the end it was Jarrett who created TNA something that no one would have done if he had given up when his wrestling career ended in 2001 when vince fired him.
@@erickgarcia6379 that's the same logic as "Hitler was good, he killed hitler" 🤣
I honestly can’t believe they’re still around
I can sometimes companies can over come the odds and are meant to stand the test of time just look at the NWA and ROH you think TNA/IMPACT was down bad wooo
Kind of like Kmart and Sears...thought they died off 5 years ago, but there
are still a handful of stores around.
My first ever piece of wrestling merch was a set of TNA play cards which I bought from a convenience shop right next to my house.
I totally enjoyed TNA back in the day,. great talents, show and fun, had a fair few favourites
i was at the lockdown 2008 show in lowell, and i saw kurt angle vs samoa joe, a match that at the time i never realized was one of tna's all time greatest matches
They had a gr8 roster and guys were leaving it all n the ring
Christian Cage and Booker T took it 2 the next level. Mever would of thought Bubba Ray would become such a good solo wrestler
Well done, Ross. I really enjoy your presentation style.
Not only did you fail to mention one of the greatest promos in wrestling history between Ric Flair and Jay Lethal, you also failed to mention the Karen Angle atrocity and the Brooke Hogan mess.
Currently, Impact Wrestling is owned by Anthem Sports & Entertainment's CEO Leonard Asper and is view on Anthem Sports & Entertainment's cable channel AXS TV.
TNA was known for employing-
1. Past their prime legends
2. WWE low-to-mid card guys
Then they’d push them as Main Eventers 🤦🏻♂️
You can't tell me anyone adding RVD to there roster ever was a bad idea.
it was, he was overpushed in tna and porbably cost a lot and he almost never lost clean while beating tna established clearly
He would have people come up to him and ask him if he was still working while on the show. It was the witness protection program.
I went off wrestling for a few years after the inVasion storyline- it was actually TNA that brought me back. It was a shame that it fell so far…
I love that at one time TNA employed everyone on the cover of The Death of WCW DVD
TNA is what kept me in wrestling for a few more years after 2007. I remember TNA used to be on demand on Comcast. And seeing familiar faces but then seeing rising stars and fan favorites, man loved those spike days
TNA: I want to be a profitable rival to the WWE.
Also TNA: Let's just do WCW 2000 for a decade and so how it goes.
I’ll never not be convinced that Eric and hulk weren’t purposely trying to sabotage TNA from the inside. They even tried to recreate the Montreal screw job.
Mid-00’s TNA is my absolute favorite wrestling era, especially when Angle showed up and feuded with Joe
I believe every promotion, even the crappiest deserve some support for keeping talents engaged and giving the audience an alternative!
There was WCW, then TNA. Will AEW join them in an inevitable fall against WWE? Or AEW be the one to rise above WWE and dominate pro wrestling and be called the new top brand in the sport?!
It all depends how early Vince will step down
I dunno about all that, but for the moment, AEW is doing a great job of recruiting the guys that WWE can't or won't keep. And they don't seem to be bleeding money yet. And Impact isn't doing horribly with this partnership deal. I think they both better pray that nothing bad happens to Omega, though.
First question. That depends how long Tony's dad keeps funding his real life toy set.
Second. No.
@@no_one01-5 AEW actually makes money which TNA always struggled at. AEW also allows wrestlers to do other promotions also. AEW is doing it right and have wrestlers competing in events worldwide. It won't be one promotion taking down WWE but many working together.
@@johncummings4917
It's a private LLC and its financial position is only privy to the primary shareholders so there is no way you can know if they are making money or not. Stick to the wrestling mark you don't know shit about finance literally making nonsense up.This is why people hate AEW marks. You are weirdos instead of simply consuming the product like a normal human being you want to masqarade as one of the directors. You are a fan boy like the rest of us so know your role and kindly stfu.
2024 Update: “The Rise, Fall, and Rebirth of TNA Wrestling” narrated by the silky voiced Tom Campbell? Here for it.
Truthfully their women's division was top notch 👌🏽
If IMPACT/TNA bring back the 6 sided ring, I think they would get back a LOT of viewers. Also making it available in Australia is a must because we miss wrestling and all we have is WWE (No AEW, no impact, no ROH).
When TNA was on our TV's back in the good old days, I used to tell the says of the week by the wrestling shows...
Monday was Velocity/Heat
Tuesday was Tough enough
Wednesday was RAW
Thursday was ECW
Friday was Smackdown
Saturday was TNA
Sunday was replays
Wrestling in the 2002-2010 era was awesome for us Aussies
Between early 2006 and when Hogan & Bischoff came on board, I watched TNA religiously. Even the days after Russo came back were pretty good compared to the travesty Easy E and The Hulkster turned it in to. The days of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Team Canada, Beer Money, MCMG, Amazing Red, etc. were an amazing time.
Crazy, I remember seeing the main event mafia form. Crazy to see the outcome now of the company as a whole
Good video, but i think it is unfair to me that Sting is just barely mentioned when he was one of the leadders of the brand, the heart and soul of the company with AJ, the first real legend to step up and perhaps alongside Angle, company's "mainstream" biggest attraction.
When I first saw the thumbnail I was legit wondering when the hell Celine Dion was part of TNA.
Lol 😁
If it werent for jeff and jerry jarrett theyed be no impact hogan an dixie killed it
Spilled my fucking drink seeing okada dressed like that💀💀💀
You said they were the only major wrestling company in North America (in 2001), forgetting that AAA and CMLL existed at that time.
AEW has Learned and
can still learn Alot from
The Good, The Bad,
and The Ugly of TNA.
This was the dark time of TNA between 2010-2017. But lucky they got back on track in 2018 and now they’re still around after 22 years later
Everything Vince Russo touches turns to crap 💩
Similar to good old vince now and days
He is the "Angel of Death"
Yep
you don't know wrestling
@@blueprint7 piss off Russo!
I was very skeptical about this video.. Once I hear Ross though, immediately my interest came in and I was glued! Very glad I stuck around because this is fantastic presentation.
I swear Vince Russo destroys everything that he comes in contact with as far as wrestling 🤦🏿♂️😆
Just janky asf 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've noticed any wrestler who thought Russo had good ideas went absolutely no where so....
well he was largely responsible for the attitude era in the beginning and that started the biggest boom in the history of the WWE. You can see why he would have such a huge ego and think he could do that anywhere. Yeah he played a big part in the beginning but so did the wrestlers like stone cold, the rock and dx. if you dont have guys like that to write for good luck trying to make it work.
@@cjvaye99 this right here. Without the right talent the storylines go nowhere...
A reverse MacGyver. Russo could turn anything to shit
Yess! I love these types of videos. It’s even better when it’s about TNA.
Hogan, Bishoff, & Russo are the blame!
Seemed crazy stupid to put the people that killed WCW in charge of TNA
Don't forget Dixie Carter
7:23 Bonus points for slipping in the "Borucie Bonus" ... I don't think there was a more underrated quiz show presenter (or, as we Yanks like to say, "game show host") out there than Bruce Forsythe and I've always enjoyed seeing some of his quiz shows on TH-cam over the years.
"So nice to see you ... to see you: NICE!"
Welcome back, TNA :)
Ace club vs AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, sting 🤩🤩 those were the days.
Downfall of TNA is why I would never in my life call Hogan and Bischoff "legends".
Man i loved TNA back in the day. WWE didn't hold s jockstrap to them for a while
I like the x division thats what brought ratings
Glad Tony Khan has taken all creative authorities from EVPs. 'Give power to the wrong people is the downfall of a pro wrestling'.
I liked TNA 2011-2013, a lot, and was glad to see that horrible six sided ring gone. So I don't think the Hogan years were all bad.
The ring is what made it different then everybody else 😂
The fact that double j was the top guy in tna is mainly what kept me from getting into it I figured if he's the best then there roster must be some shit
O.o Idk that TNA was that old. You learn something new everyday.
I remember staying up late on Saturday nights (after hockey night in Canada) and watching TNA just to see Jeff Hardy!
The main event mafia was a good faction
My hometown of Huntsville AL. I remember I didn’t go to the VBC because a) I was 7 and didn’t know wrestling that deep like now and b) didn’t know any of the wrestlers featured, my aunt somehow got an autographed photo of Wildcat Chris Harris wearing the NWA Tag Title.
I respected the TNA journey but was never a true fan. It's pretty obvious the downfall was connected to Hogan and Bischoff.
No Steiner math promo without TNA/Impact. So we should forever be grateful.
Good thing is....Impact seems to be going strong now that they're away from Dixie and the others. They've had some cracking good shows as of late, and Omega is dual champ with Impact and AEW edit: As of August 13th, Christian Cage is Impact champion again. Lol 😆
I started watching TNA back in 07 and started getting into it. Hogan arrived & changed it for the worst. He seriously tried to turn it into WCW 2.0. The attempt at the Monday night wars was a joke. Immortal was an awful rip off of the NWO, Hogan was always in the main storyline, taking the spotlight from the young stars who deserved it
