  • This customer had a power outage a few weeks ago, but when the power was restored, he had no AC power inside the coach. I suspected either the shore cord or the ATS. Watch to see what I found.

Hey Kenny, thanks for checking in. I checked voltage at the input of the TS and it was good. I was going to use the wire nut method but instead connected shore power to the generator connection instead and that works fine except it has a short delay before pulling it in.

I had a power outage last night at the house , I keep the camper plugged in and checked on it this morning and had no 110v.
The coach has the exact same model transfer switch as in your video from 2 years ago, I don't have a generator either so I may get some big blue wire nuts and save $200 bucks.
Not sure why this burned out with a surge protector in place, guess its a common problem.
Thanks for the Video and the bypass idea!!!

Most Automatic Generator Transfer Switches use AC coil that buzz - hum. I found only one company that uses DC coils that do not buzz and hum: SCO, they make both a 30amp the LPT30BRD and 50 amp Automatic Transfer Switches.

05 pleasureway Lexor RD chevy 3500.
No house power w/ generator onan2800,except house battery power stuff.
I have shore power & house battery power.
w/ generator on measured Voltage erroneous readings no 120VAC on breakers or 12VDC on fuses.
shore power cords which I connected to coach 1st then to household
Outlet. Result 124VAC on all breakers from neutral bus bar to breakers lugs & from negative green& bare wire bus bar to lugs, to each fuse 13.4VDC.also the GFI circuit in bathroom came on w/ test lamp.
Additionally the air conditioner powered up so did microwave oven however no joy w/
Furnace still can’t hear blower or igniter.thremostate is getting 12VDC.
house battery a deep cycle group 27 12.9VDC starts generator.
Edit: when on shore power w/ AC on for about a minute I did hear the converters fan come on for maybe 2 minutes then off so I assume the convertors internal fuse is good?
The generators Onan 2800 fuel filter is jammed up on the breaker due to a fuel line to short.
I suspect w/ little vibration the generators breaker is turning off bc of fuel filter I think I’ve flipped it back up to on position & it’s turning itself off.
I’d like to extend this fuel line & move it off the switch, anyone know the size of this fuel lines inside diameter? attached image of where I think the fuel filter should be located. Thanks for advice it is much appreciated.

Was heading home from Orlando yesterday with the generator on and then I noticed that the forward two ac units weren’t kicking on but the rear one was. Usually on this panel it’ll show 120v on one side and 120 on the other but it seems like it’s only getting one leg. Does this seem to be a transfer switch issue? As soon as I got home I plugged it into 50 amp and everything worked fine until today it’s showing only 120 V again. Does it seem like my transfer switch is on its way out? I’m thinking the rear AC runs on one leg and the forward two runs on the other. Any ideas?

Kenny, good vid as always....I have a totally unrelated question for you regarding a Suburban oven. Pilot lights and stays lit, but burner won't light...even when holding a lighter to the burner with the knob turned on (and held in). The gas is flowing as I can hear it, but even with the lighter the burner won't catch. There is a bit of a blue flame at the base of the burner, but it looks like it's being blown (by the gas??) and never will catch the rest of the burner. Take away the lighter and flame goes out. I've searched and find no one addressing anything like this. Any suggestions? btw, wish I could find a mobil RV repairman like yourself...someone who knows what they're doing and has the customer's best interest in mind. I try to do most of the work on my rigs, but every now and then something comes up that's above my pay grade. Any chance of you moving to South Texas?? thx again for all you do.
