Wow!! This play list is exactly what I needed! I’m a DIYer. My mom was a pro. She taught me initially so I could help her do her hair & nails. I have always done my own nails. Used acrylic for years. But my business has me so busy that builder gel actually fits my life better. Learning LOTS! Thank You
I love all your videos and I love this video with the music. But I love listening to your voice when you’re giving direction. Thank you again for another informative video. I look forward to your new videos every week. Your instruction has really help me improve application and also what is most important... nail prep!! Thank you again.
Hey Sarah God bless you I appreciate you opening up because Lord knows I needed to hear that I'm not alone in my feelings from another Christian sister. I hope 28 is everything you want it to be according to God's will 🙏🏿
Today's video is more of a "watch me work" TH-cam and chill video where you can watch everything from start-to-finish for the gel overlay tutorials. I've added music to this video so if you're not into it please feel free to mute. :) All products used are listed below the video. And don't forget to watch the "prerequisite" vids for this! Catch up from the beginning here: bit.ly/TNHNailFun
It would really help if you told or showed us what speeds you are using the efile at for each procedure! I usually just use it at the lowest most effective setting but I can always learn more! Thanks for sharing!
All these videos have been very helpful however are you able to do another backfill one with nails that have been significantly grown out? And then polish a solid color rather than a glitter. I feel glitter is an easier product to apply than a solid color. I struggle from time to time with clients who have a longer grow out and reapplying a solid color than glitter. How do you go about trying to rebalancing that?
@Caren Navarro 34.20, but this video does show nails with a solid colour albeit not a video of a significant growth but all one colour (greyish/purple) @The Nail Hub very nice work !
Loving the whole series, it has help me a lot. During Nail School the main focus was acrylic besides regular manicures. I have chosen Gel as my specialty I finished Nail School in November and I must say your videos are the continuous education I can afford at the moment. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge. I do have one question; how high are the prep bit and removal bit going? What's the appropriate speed?
Thank you so much for your tutorials, I have learnt so much. I am a DIYR and also do my friends nails. She has very weak nails and also some ski jumps. I am trialling IBX on her. Would love to see a tutorial using Japanese potted gels and how to sculpt short ski jump nails. 😊
Great video and I enjoyed the music. I'll have to watch the whole thing without skipping when I have more time. I'm in the process of moving and for the time being, I'm staying with friends and family. I can't wait to get moved.
I think this was the perfect time for you to do a watch me work video. With all you've been teaching us over the past several months it was great to see it all come to fruition. As I was watching you I could hear you explaining the different processes of prepping and finishing the nails. I have a question about luxio gel. I recently started using it and fot some reason the gel on the thumbs wrinkles. Any idea as to this is happening? Thanks for sharing your brilliance. 🙂
Hi so glad you are liking the series. Sounds like the Luxio isn't curing. What lamp do you use? Luxio needs a very high power lamp since it is 100% gel and is very pigmented.
@@TheNailHub i'm using the SUN5 48 watt lamp. It cures fine on my other nails and I actually used Flirt last night and there was no wrinkling on any nail. Maybe I had just applied it too thick? I'll give that colour another try and see if it happens again. Thanks 🙂
@@TheNailHub I understand why you chose to put music in the video and I assume it is less of a hassle for you. And it is really nice to see everything "put together" in one video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and devoting so much time to teaching us! I have to admit it is such a weird thing to not hear your voice though. I too enjoy it more when I hear you talk during a video. For me, hearing random music (or watching a muted video) is just not as immersive than hearing the sounds of filing or short comments like "remember to cap the free edge of the nail". It does not mean that you need to repeat everything that you already said in your other instructional videos. You could briefly remark on what you are going to do next and the occasional "remember to do this" and then we could watch you perform this step on all fingers in silence until your next step. You could also use the time to talk to us about something that is on your mind, maybe a topic to start a discussion about, or tell us a nail-related story, something like that could also be pretty neat :) These are just a few suggestions. In the end, what you do in your videos needs to feel right to you!
Hello from Greece Liz . Exiting to see always your videos . Thank you so much for your help. Two question please. How much more should we charge the overlay and filling ? And should we charge extra the removal of the long lasting colour gel ? Thanks in advance 😘🌹💖
I love the in depth long videos there awesome!!!! Q: on the filing/prep you did a back and forth motion on the free edge...I’ve watched in other videos by pros (like you)and they say it’s not good for the nail to go back and forth on the free edge and to file in one direction. (Actual Q) what is your take on that info. I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly. Is that a preference thing or? 🤷🏾♀️ thank you again for your great videos
Hi Liz! You are the best! Thank you for doing all these videos, I’m loving it. I just can’t seem to find the IBX video you refer to, was it removed?! Just don’t want to miss anything. Watching your 78 video Gel Fundamentals play list!
Hi Liz, LOVED your video. Quick question for you please, I noticed you didn't really do the floating technique when you applied the overlay. Is that a necessary technique? Or because you were doing a natural look you can brush down rather than float? Thanks in advance!
Hey, quick question. I ordered the Kokoist Platinum Bond Duo in a pot and am in love with the consistency but am having trouble with it yellowing the instant I stick it in my lamp. Any idea what could be causing that? Thanks so much for your videos, I’ve learned a crazy amount from you!
I’m a licensed nail tech in Arizona. Is there anywhere I can take classes to learn this method of efile manicure prior to product application? I’ve been away from nails for some years and now everything is so different. I need some catching up!
Yayyy, I've been waiting for a new video! :D The only step I don't fully get is 1) Why file after the clear overlay layer? The nails seem perfectly smooth and perfect as they are .. 2) And also - when backfilling - if I use a simple gel polish that's not as thick as the one Liz uses the second time - do I repeat the process of putting the clear overlay on before the color like the first time around or do I just go right in with the polish?
I showed this so people can see you can finish file to overlay to ensure it is smooth. With practice and a good gel you can eliminate this step but finish filing is an important skill. And yes backfill the overlay before color. You can even use your base for this purpose. Just apply it thicker so it is flush and gives you a good cushion between the color and the nail.
Hi Liz, love your videos! I’m not a professional I’m just trying to do my own nails and my daughters. I’m struggling to find products like yours in the uk. Especially the dry skin tear drop drill bit. I looked into ordering but international postage is expensive do you know of uk stockist for your products or similar? Big UK fan x
Love your videos😀 I was wondering if someone came in with chunks of an overlay still on parts of their nails, maybe with areas lifting, would you use an e file to get back to the natural nail and start over or would you try to smooth it out as best as possible and apply the base coat over it? Thanks.
I usually just remove all the lifted areas and keep what's still attached, unless it's really really worn out or is from another salon (different product was used). Watch this video and you'll see what I do on 5 week old nails. th-cam.com/video/SrjP8gzXYBw/w-d-xo.html
Thankyou🌷🌷🌷🙂. It's good to see your techniques. I'm firstly an acrylic tech and recently introduced builder gel. I can see I've been using too much product for this length nail!!! As i like to use alot of my raw glitters rather than a glitter gel i wondered if i should keep encapsulating my glitters as i have been and finish filing on the clear encapsulated layer where i created the structure(?) I noticed you did the structure 1st, then 2 layers of glitter gel over your structure, buffed lightly on the last glitter layer then topcoated? Is that correct?⚘⚘⚘💝
I have a question... perhaps you've answered this in one of your other videos that I've yet to watch. But why don't you use any sort of cuticle softener prior to pushing them back? It seems like it would be painful. Thanks!
Cuticle softener adds oils and other residues to the nail. Theres very few of them that dont cause potential lifting issues with gel. Most of them are also acid based (gentle acids like fruit based ones) which means they have to be completely rinsed off in water. Water and gel do not do well together and avoiding moisture of any kind prior to application really helps to avoid lifting. I much prefer doing dry manicures. But if you want to use cuticle remover try Blue Cross. It is great and can be removed completely (with a towel or wipes and some alcohol) without a full water soak.
Takes about 50-60;minutes for each service (application & backfill). I try to keep all my services at an hour or under. Keeps clients happy and keeps me efficient.
Can I ask, do you do an IBX, treatment before the application of acrylic, and is it an ok to do a foot/hand soak and full pedicure/manicure. Thank you in advance 💞
I personally like the music and the voice over. If people watched the videos from the start they would know what she is doing and she wouldn’t have to speak during it.
On the 2 week back fill did you apply anything to the natural nail? Prep or just base coat to the whole nail. Did you use bonder near the cuticle on the natural nail? Sorry If I’m confusing.❤️
Just prep the nail like I did the first time around, then base coat. I don't use primers or bonders. If the nail is clean and dry and properly prepared you shouldn't need a bunch of preparatory products. Watch my early videos on prep and base coat in this series if you haven't already. It will help a lot.
Did you ever have problems with the Kokoist platinum bond and builder? I was so excited to try them, but they peeled right off me despite my prep work.
No they last forever when I've used them. What cleanser do you use? Did you watch all my previous videos? Most likely it's something that you cleaned or prepped with our it could also be the lamp you use.
@@TheNailHub I do watch all your videos, they are amazing! I prepped with cuticle bits from ericas, the light elegance cleanser and a uv/led lamp from Amazon, so it might be the lamp.
