    IKEA shelf railway model:
I came up with this idea for a model railway display when browsing IKEA in Exeter. I don’t know a great deal about railways but was keen create something which could be displayed easily on the wall. Although it’s a small model, I still had to run through a lot of different processes as you would on a large layout. Some of the other videos on my channel go into more detail so please have a look if it’s of interest.
I hope my channel is of interest to anyone who enjoys making dioramas, model railways or war gaming layouts.

This is a really cool idea to store certain engines or trains that are special to you when you're not running them.

  • @JoelsRailroadStuff

This is a great idea for someone that is in the early stages of planning/building a model railroad layout, but wants to experiment with scenery or jump ahead to some of the finer detail work. You can build a small shelf diorama for displaying a favorite locomotive . Rolling stock. And then you get to work on building scenes before the big railroad is ready for it. Or you also get a sense of “finishing something” by building a little scene, knowing that the larger project will take lots of time. I considered building a little T-Trak module or something just to work on scenery, but this is a cool idea too.

The really cool thing about this idea is that you could theoretically hang a bunch of these floating shelves up all around the room and create a working model railroad that spans however many dioramas depicting whatever you want. Liked and Subbed 👍👍

But, even if I don't get anywhere near the quality of your endeavour, I can safely say the enjoyment of watching just this one video of yours has been an absolute joy. If I could make one suggestion: instead of using relatively expensive Vallejo paint for the ground, you could use a big bottle of some craft paint, like Apple Barrel or Craft Smart. Vallejo makes excellent paints for scale model and miniature painting, but there are far cheaper alternatives for rough work or big patches of scenery.

This is amazing. There is only one thing that I would add to it. You spend so much time on all the details on the landscape but the train is just placed on it without any steam and smoke and so on. If the train is not supposed to be removed again I would add more detail to it.

Thank you. This is more of a display for different models so I can't add anything permanent for steam and smoke.

This is such a cool way to do a diorama in a small set up. Space saver for sure. Well done on your project. I might follow your idea with my Queensland Rail scene idea. Thanks again
