I agree that it is positioned incorrectly, as it should be adjacent to the stop line and not what appears to be at least 6 metres away from it. It is also obscured by the fencing material. I would say that whoever erected the sign has not spent a lot of time reading the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The cameraman has every right to be there, but he would have been better served to be campaigning to have the signage improved for the safety of all concerned.

@@pdtech4524 , if that was the case the offence would be 'disobey stop line' and i do not believe that such a rule exists. The UK equivalent of The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices shows the correct signage for stop signs and that is an actual sign, not a line. I have worked for several Councils in England and my work involved spotting road signs that required cleaning and replacing. No-one ever said to me that a stop sign was not required if a stop line was in place. A white line on a carriageway without an associated sign is simply a white line.

He has no need or right to ask that question as it puts the potential complainant under undue stress regarding making the complaint/report (if they wish to do so). He was only well-mannered because AB said that he doesn't report to the authorities, only the public. Otherwise, the officer would have acted quite differently knowing he's going to be reported and I bet we'd have seen a retaliation of some sort (he "admitted" speeding because he thought the speed limit was 60 not 50, that's enough 'proof' for him to probe further if he was pissed off. Come on!

    Stop sign law:
Drivers must stop just before the solid stop line
Motorists must stop behind the line at a junction where a stop sign is in place with a solid white line. It is law that a driver must stop at least once before the line and wait for a safe gap before proceeding. The officer said 'ah, but I did give way'. The sign said STOP, not give way!
He committed a road traffic offence!
